Am not a PC geek and haven't used the Logmein software. Am guessing the scammer managed to convince you to install Logmein but failed to access your PC because you answered no to press-ok-to-give-remote-access. Not finding logmein.exe running in memory means it's not active but logmein software may still be installed on your PC and you can find out by looking at the Add and Remove Programs window and see if it's there. If present, I would uninstall it if you don't need it. You can also use System Restore to roll your PC back to a known good state before the scammer call.

Got a call from The Alien Touch on Sat 14 July 2012 in the UK.
Told My are had been srveyed and found windows systems in the area were getting corrupted "day by day". Prompted to go to the Event viewer and told all errors and warnings were viruses dragged in from the internet and for free they would clear all problems up. Cought off guard and unwell at the time I was stupid enough to enter a pin number into the LogMeIn123 tech support box, at which point a new window opened "chat box" saying "connection established" the next promt finaly got my alarm bells ringing asking me press ok to give "remote access"... At this point I declined, closed all windows, hung up the phone, ran a virus scan on Norton 360, downloaded malwarebytes updated and ran that programme, checked with security Task Manager for hidden LogMeIn.exe all which came back as clean.... So my question is "How likely is it I have been compromised" by entering the LogMeIn code given to me by the Alien Touch Scammers, but refusing to give full remote access, any answers and advice would be greatly appreciated from one dumb a** in the UK :(

You all will enjoyed this. Someone from this number accidentally left me a voicemail on 6/2. If anyone knows how to upload the audio from my iPhone, I would love to post the gem online, but for now, I hope you will enjoy this completely unexaggerated transcription of the weirdest message I have ever received- be sure to read to the end where it gets really strange.
"(fuzz, background talking) (heavy Indian accent) Hello? ATM card! Swipe Carlo. Cash me Carlo. Swipe Carlo, cash me Carlo. Cash! (creepy laughter)(pause filled with background noise)(more laughter) swipe Carlo (laughter) cash! See cash! I got cash! (laughter) (foreign language from 0:37  to 1:21) (yelling now) wear the silk! Wear the silk! Wear the silk! (unintelligible) silk! Show your silkiness! Show your dirty! Show your dirtiness! (laughter and background noise)"
Try to say your company is legitimate again please. Because lots of legitimate companies leave voicemails like this.

Alien Touch is scam.

A man with heavy accent called me saying that a Chicago based microsoft center is receiving error signals from my laptop and I am in danger. He told me to turn on my computer to show the errors and he would call back in 5 minutes. He called again and started talking as if he had a script in front of him!

I was amazed.I reported the incident to my police station and they have assured me of swift action.May god punish the wrong doers.

Dear Alien Touch,

As an early hardworking individual, I have worked for fortune 500, fortune 100 companies, small local business, local emerging companies and have been in business for myself. With that said, in the US unless you are collecting unpaid bills you don't call clients at all hours, on the weekend and to top it all off not leave a courtesy message.

This is not business like, and please note that your clientele list shows how ineffective this tactic is to reach the masses.

Please use better business tactics. As a strategic business analyst and as a consumer, its not well accepted.

Thank you .....

Same thing.  Indian sounding guy.  Our Windows research group has monitored that your computer is downloading some potentially dangerous file.  You don't have to be logged on but we need you to turn on your computer and we will talk you through everything.  I asked what my operating system was.  That confused him for a minute but he finally came up with Windows,,,  version 7.  I told him to loose my number and never call again.  Sounds like he wants you to do something that would then give him/them access to your computer later.  SCAM

I was insulted by the customer serivce rep from Alien Touch as well.  When I told him that I do not own a Windows based computer (I have 2 macs) he was exceptionally rude.  He said, "As a lady, how can you lie like that?  Aren't you a Christian?"  Those comments were very, very unacceptable.

Unfortunately, I was so shocked I couldn't even reply.  My immediate instinct was to hang up. I should have asked for a manager.

This is a well-known scam that the IT people at your bank will recognize. Tell your bank you were scammed and that you want your money back. Your bank should be able to claw credit card money back for you. Have your bank look at this 800notes webpage and read these links:

Quote: "We acquire legitimate telemarketing lists available with data firms and then cold call to find customers that may be in need and interested in our services."

If the above is correct, and you are receiving your lists from legitimate firms, then there is no possible way that my phone number would be on those lists as it has been on the US "Do Not Call List" for YEARS.

Which leads one to think that you are 'company' of scammers since you a clear disregard for the US FTC Do Not Call List.  Oh and yes, I did report the number as a violation.

I would like to tell you that I only trusted them because I thought they were there to help me but found out as a customer how they real like when I told them I want to cancel my contract which I was told that I used there software which cost them (179) and I can't get any of my money back which was (184.69) they said the bank charged me for the oversea transaction but I still don't understand. I complained about the service that they gave me and was told we gave you a new window 7 and took out all your virus from my computer and that I'm not getting my money back you wanted every thing for free by them, in future I will never trust company like them.

Ahh, more translation needed, I see.....

"We acquire legitimate telemarketing lists available with data firms" -- we deal with the same type of scammers that we are, buying email and phone spam lists that are all "opt-in" (but, of course!). They MUST be valid lists, since they cost SO much (we actually harvested them from public domain sources like the phone book, reverse-lookup sites, etc).

"then cold call to find customers that may be in need and interested in our services" -- we violate the laws of the USA by making unsolicited robo-calls, hoping to get some poor, unsuspecting, non-technical, gullible person on the phone so we can scare them into forking over money for our bogus "Techno Alien" crapware.

"Find us one post in this entire forum where one of our registered customers have put forward a complaint." -- Are you THAT stupid? Didn't you see the post from the guy you ripped off for $99 (Michael M. 10 Jun 2012)?
And that's just on this site; there are others posted elsewhere. You are fast becoming known for what you are, a do***ebag scammer out to enrich himself at the expense of others!

"it does cost us to build a good name for ourselves" -- It would cost you FAR less to actually build a good name for yourself, instead of what you are actually doing. See, that's the thing about scammers; eventually, they are their own undoing. What goes around, comes around. Karma. Even you toads from India know about Karma, right?

"We can easily advertise big in TV and Radio and then charge our customers $500 instead of the $50 we charge now for our services" -- Well, for one thing, TV and radio are much more expensive than the meager hardware required to run a robocall operation. Plus, what do you pay your "technicians" over there in India? I doubt it's anywhere close to what an honest, talented support analyst makes in the USA. Besides, if you were to advertise on radio and tv, you would be far more visible to law enforcement. They would most likely jump on your scam so fast, it would make your turban spin.

"target audience our senior citizens who do not know much about computers" -- Finally, you're showing some signs of actually being truthful here. Then again, what kind of low-life pondscum knowingly preys on pc-illiterate senior citizens. Oh, well, at least you admit it (might be used against you when you're prosecuted, though).

"Your comments are not going to stop us from doing our work honestly" -- See, now your just being stupid again. This "work" that you are doing is NOT "honest", not even close. You scare non-technical users (senior citizens, for Christ's sake!) into allowing you to remote control their PC and do your real dirty work. Then, you EXTORT money from them so you can "clean" up their "infected" systems that YOU infected with your crapware!

You are either the DUMBEST scammer that I've ever seen, or the slickest. It even sounds like you believe all this bullsh!t you're spewing!

Since we all know you are not based in the USA, please allow me to translate for the masses:

"various marketing strategies" -- any method we can get away with to trap someone and take their money

"one of which remains tele-marketing" -- which we know is illegal in the US, but we'll continue to do it as long as we can rip people off and not get caught.

"show them errors / issues / problems if any that are existent in their computer" -- mislead a non-technical PC user and scare them with fake and/or harmless error messages to convince them to allow us to take control of their system long enough to plant our bogusware on it and then force them to pay us to clean up their "infected" computer.

Look, most of us in the computer industry have seen other scams just like this for so long that it's pretty easy to spot. How ironic that you tout your "integrity" all while you are laying down your scam. No amount of BS posted on your Facebook page or via Twitter will change the fact that you are emanating the very same stench that other racketeers before you have long since perfected. Some of them are still "working", but some of them are behind bars, which is where you belong.

Get off the internet. The b*****ds may have installed malware on your PC that will spy on you and collect bank logins and other sensitive data and steal your files. Do not use your PC to log into any accounts, if you have, treat all accounts as being compromised, change all passwords immediately and look through all your accounts for changes like your contact email, etc. The VISA account must be replaced with a new one. Do not connect to the internet until you get this problem fixed because malware can call home and download more malware and export data and files they have stolen from you. The $99 loss is insignificant compared to the damage compromised accounts can cost you. Color the $99 gone and concentrate to getting your PC fixed. If you know how, try using System Restore to reset your PC to a known good state *before* the b*****ds got into your PC. Get help from friends or pay a local shop to reformat your hard drive and reload your operating system.

"We acquire legitimate telemarketing lists available with data firms and then cold call to find customers that may be in need and interested in our services."

The vast majority of US households have registered their telephone with the Do Not Call list.  Under federal law cold calling any telephone number on that list is illegal.  Other households like mine have gotten rid of the land line and us only cell phones.  Under federal law cold calling a cell phone is also illegal.  Alien Touch is violating those two laws.  That alone is enough to make me not trust them.

Your target audience is senior citizens who don't know much about computers and are easy to scam.  You keep the cost low because a senior who only lost $50 is less likely to get tv coverage, exposing your scam.
