Definitely a scammer. Good thing I decided to Google the number first and came across this. Responded to a Kijiji ad I posted not 5 minutes later. I was asking $100, they offered $270 and wanted my PayPal info. Not bloody likely.

Got the same message from alleybarry2011@gmail.com asking for my paypal details. They were willing to pay £100 extra which aroused my suspicions

listed vehicle on 2 sites, both in Canada...this dude signed name as Sharon Morgan and present condition of the vehicle...read the listing dummy...listing also said I would not respond to texts or e-mails, telephone calls only...suggest others do this also as it really cuts down on the junk callers and idiots like "Sharon Morgan".....jerk!

on Autotrader.com, craiglist, ebay etc- they all WARN about these scams - but most never bother to read...

Autotrader is not responsible for who contacts an advertiser. It is up to the advertiser to be vigilant and sort out the possible scammers. People have a lot of expectations for something they are getting for free!!! I handle these calls daily and my take on this matter is that people want to abdicate their responsibility and take no action to prevent being scammed. These scammers cost everyone!!!!

I put my car on sale on craigslist.. got the same message as you guys... didn't bother answering... this is the type of fraud when they ask you to transfer money, then you ship them the car and as soon as your car is in a container shipped, they cancel the transaction and you lost both your car and the money

This piece of crap texted me late last night about my Grand Cherokee for sale. Wanted me to write him back @ that same email. Owing to the fact it's a New York number and I am on the other side of North America I found it hard to believe someone would want be interested in my vehicle so I didn't write back. Like with 10 million people in New York you can't find another Cherokee? Can someone who lives closer go beat this guys a**?

Also got a text from this person asking to describe my car's condition and what I am willing to sell for and to reply to this email address : clover.regina@yahoo.com  Obviosuly a BIG!!! SCAM.

I just had the same response to a car ad.  I am also a IT security officer.  I would guess the would-be thief would ask a unsuspecting seller for their sign-on to Paypal.  Then they would empty whatever funds are available from the account.

An older generation, unaware of the fact, would need to be told, when you give your account sign-on, it is tantamount to giving them the combination to your safe.  Or akin to giving them authorization to your bank account.

This lame a** guy keeps asking to buy my 4x4 truck for his mother in law. right....thats the perfect vehicle for an older lady, just what she needs! Just another person who is too dumb too work!  all he wants is me too set up a Pay Pal account and give him the info. Well i will get right on that sir dumb a**! please take all my money while your at it, that way you dont need to get a real job!

Glad my husband suggested googling the email address before responding to the bizarre text.

Tempted to text back and ask this person to quit wasting people's time, but not worth engaging I guess.

Got text messages from this number in response to my post on Craigslist to sell my 2 iPhones and my car. Claimed to be buying for fiance and wanted to use eBay and Paypal. I figured it for a scam when he/she offered more than my asking price. Not pushy but just seemed odd. So I just stopped responding after one message. Asked me to send information about my car to clover.regina@yahoo.com similar to some other people in this thread.
