Unfortunately for Les.net (and like pretty much every other VOIP phone company), they have one or more customers that are scammers. Les.net is small compared to the big Baby Bell companies, but they still have tens of thousands of numbers that can be abused.  They have little to no control over how their customers use their numbers once they're paid for.

That said, I've been a customer of Les.net for many years for my own home and business phone, and they're a trustworthy, law-abiding organization.  Even if they've blocked an individual from receiving calls on one of their DIDs (that's Direct In-Dial, fyi) numbers, that customer can still provide that number as part of their outgoing caller ID - so as Les Bester said, there's nothing they can do to stop a scammer from impersonating one of their numbers - even after they've shut it off.

I just got one from 407-218-6002. In Chicago now, but from Orlando, and that's why I answered. No one said anything at all so I hung up and googled Les.Net 1996 and the phone number. Also on the "Do Not Call" list, but I get these calls all the time. Creepy.

Today a call from 407-218-6002  using Les.Net 1996 as an ID.  "This is doctor Saqueel O'Neil..."  at that point I hung up on the robo call.  Putting this message here as it appears Leslie Bester is trying to deal with this problem?

I just received a call from  I D:  Les.net 1996  but the phone number was 407-218-6002.  So they are obviously still at it but using other phone numbers.  I mentioned this in regards to the above number but decided to post here also so that Leslie Bester is aware it is still going on and with other phone numbers.  This one was a robo call "This is doctor Shaqueel O'Neil...." at that point I hung up.

they keep calling me. and just say they are looking for me. i had my child answer and all they said is that were looking for me and thats it no name on who it is or anything like that.

I got the same thing, medicationsonline.com. I asked where she got my number.  She answered that that was a good question, but did not answer it.  So I told her that 1) she called my cell phone which is illegal for telemarketers.  2) My number was also registered with the do-not-call list.  I told her that any telemarketers that called my number would be reported to the FTC and prosecuted.  I then hung up mid-sentence in her apology.

caller said they were from medicationsonline.com.  wanted to know what medications I was on - wouldn't tell them.  I asked about her medications and if she had any sexual diseases or medications for sexually transmitted diseases.  Asked about her medical condition and the conversation ended very quickly...don't think I'll hear back from her.

The caller ID shows les.net(1996), when checking missed calls the phone number shows 646-626-6102, which is a NY,NY number. Answered the call when this person called again. He gave the name of Sam Cooper & told me he was calling about a payday advance of $220.00 that I needed to clear up because I had failed to pay. I have never had a payday advance. I told him to remove my number from his calling list & to never call again or I would report him. Tried to look up any info on the internet about Sam Cooper or this les.net(1996) didn't have much luck. Watch out its a scam to try & get money or info. Warn anybody you know that may not understand what this may be all about!!!

I'm not knowledgeable enough about your type of business to completely understand your reply - I don't know what a "DID" is - digital identification?). But I do understand that you have blocked what those people were doing with regard to their receiving return calls via your network.
I just went to http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-646-843-2302 again & I think you should know that the latest post, dated 5 days after your last one, says:
"Upset - 11 Feb 2008 - I just recieved a phone call from this number. I did not pick up the phone and they did not leave a message. I am on the no-call list and will be making a complaint. Caller ID: LES.NET (1996)"
How long does it take for your block on their return calls to work?
Is there anything else you can possibly do to stop these people?

Further more, LES.NET has blocked that particular DID on our system.
The people making these calls (through someone elses network) are no longer able to receive calls on this DID.

We've received a few complaints about FDA Drug calls, as well as subpoenas for call detail records.

These calls do not pass through our network.  The person making these calls is using an unknown provider, and using one of our DIDs to accept return calls.  Thus, the caller name shows as our company.

There is nothing Les.Net can do to track or stop these calls, as they do not pass through our network.

One more update: I notified Leslie Bester, the president and founder of LES.NET (1996)" INC. (headquartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) of these incidents of illegal use of their company's product, and gave them as much information as I have. Yes, I'm angry & I mean to go after them! Action is better than just griping about this kind of thing. I hope the feds catch them & throw them in the pokey!

More info on this caller I just found. "LES.NET (1996)" INC. (as mentioned in previous entries) is a VOIP provider. Their web site is www.les.net. Area code 646 is a New York City area code. However, It's possible the calls coming from this number are from elsewhere & just being routed via the number that shows on the caller ID. Nevertheless, I reported this number/these calls to donotcall.gov, FDA investicgations (attempted sale of illegal Rx drugs), & Les.net (1996), Inc. (illegal use of their VOIP product). I hope that gets some action!

Called my cell last pm - male caller with accent (Jamacan?) refused to ID himself or company & said something like "Did you know you can buy medications over the phone-any kind of medication at all..." - difficult to understand & no name showing on caller ID. I told him phone# is on do not call list & hung up. Grrrrr!

I have also had a call from this unknown company but did not answer. We are on the do not call list.
