I called the number just now and "Milton" answered the call.  He sounded like I just woke him up.  He said that I have to deposit the check and then call them back and they will give us the information to talk to the tax agent assigned to me so that they can dispurse the remaining funds totalling $150,000.

I called HSBC bank and they claim that the account number is valid under the business name Montpelier, Inc.  They cannot tell me if there is enough funds to cover the $5,000.00 check they sent me.

This looks tooooooooo good to be true.

My guess is that they are using this gimmick to get your banking information...

A friend also recieved the letter.  Was some BS lotto scam with some BS claim number from a company in Canada.  The check looks very real, from MONTPELIER INC in Scottsdale, AZ, with HSBC as the overwriter.  The letter indicates you can call 1-647-219-7131 and speak with David Milton.

They send you a check for $4,985.79 out of the $150,000.00 winnings and want you to send them back a check for $3,998.00 to cover *taxes*.  Putting it bluntly --- their check is fake --- yours is real --- you will get screwed doing this.

My friend was estatic about winning $150,000.00 in a lottery they never entered.  WTF !!! -- wake up -- people just don't give away money.  Took forever to convince her it was a scam.

Don't fall for this crap please --- THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE MONEY !!!!

I did not receive a phone call but received a letter listing this number to call to claim my winings.  The letter stated that I had won the National Lotto Co-Operation Sweepstakes Lottery.  It was a shopping award in conjunction with the Samsung promotions held on March 14.  A letter and check were mailed.
