I received a call from an automated service, sound like some kind of group survey/discussion about the provincial budget, but it wasn't clear whether it was supposed to be from a political group or an actual government agency, which leads me to believe it's not any kind of legitimate call, since both political groups and civil servants have strict rules about clearly identifying themselves.

Political call, to ask for your participation in a townhall meeting over the phone about the upcoming provincial budget meeting. They left a message after calling twice back to back, and the message states that they will call back on March 6th.

More Nigerian scammers in a country that is sympathetic to criminals. Shame on you, Canada.

I've received repeated unwanted calls from this number and have been unsuccessful in blocking these calls through my phone service.

I receive frequent calls from this number (North Vancouver, BC). I have call screen on my phone (Telus) but still receive calls after attempts to block them.  Irritating - yep!

Got a call from the 647 area code number at 10:18 pm, are most normal people not in bed since how they work, these calls are getting really annoying!! And this is not the first time I have seen this number on my phone.

There not only scammer, they are worse.
I was told about one lady whos appartment was robbed three times after she did not picked up receiving call from 647-247-1746, and left the house 10 min after.
Simple logic - no answer - nobody home.

This number keeps calling my land line. I don't answer and no message is left. I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Geting a call from this number and another very similar number ( few final digits apart). I never answer such calls but boy I am getting peeved from the daily calls.

I got this message at 8:12pm and earlier today at 12:17pm I have been getting other phone calls from Washington, USA, and Oregon, USA. I dont answear any of them...but its still so annoying...tomorrow I am sure there will be a new number that calls and then the next day a new number! I am just tired of hearing the phone ring for annoying reasons

Caller: FAKE SURVEY, SELLING BOAT CRUISES....

They called at 10:30PM ! Of course, it woke me up..... poitical survey about Canadian debt crisis...
It also instructed me to press 9 if i wanted to be permanently removed from their list....
I think i hit 9 about 5,000 times....

Well, if it's just dead air then it's a good thing I didn't answer when they called me in BC this afternoon.

This company spoofs fake 'calling from' new fake numbers every week (which is why you can't call back).  For dialing, they use an computer-based auto-dialer.  Pressing 9 just confirms your number is valid and adds it to their telemarketing database; pressing 1 does the same but puts you through to the fake survey (trying to get your address & credit card info) and ....

Did a reverse lookup on 1-800Notes last week - one user has posted valid weblink information identifying the culprits behind IND SURVEY GROUP and the 'fake cruise/fake survey'; a known to-be-fraudulent timeshare company.  The relevant parts of the posting are quoted below.  Of particular interest is both the 'Ripoff Report' which outlines all the fraudulent timeshare companies/names run & owned by this The Berkley Group (not the consulting company in Canada; but the Florida timeshare selling corporation); and the U.S./Florida Class Action Lawsuit:

Bell tone twice then hang up before I pick up the phone.
I guess they just want you to call them back if you have their number displayed if you have a call ID service.

Everyday I check my call display when I get home and this number (647 247 1746) is listed. I also get the following numbers listed on my call display everyday:
514 225 7625
902 442 7646
778 383 3383

No message is left with any of those numbers.

It's at the point where if I don't recognize the number I just don't bother answering the phone!
