I got today a phone call from Peter or Patric ? phone number 647 258 6338. He told me that my computer is infected by a virus and he wanted some private information from me as for example password, email address etc. Since I got suspicious I did not give this information at all and hung up.
It looks like that this gentleman tries to get confidential information for any reason.
If you really need support from Microsoft, then call one of the official as 800 but never give any information to those scammers and cheaters as Peter, Patric etc.

I got a call from this group this evening.  They were very aggressive. Sounds like the same group mentioned above.  Fortunately, I know enough to not let them near my computer.

I have just received a call from 647-258-6338, Quick Resolve, the man that I spoke with could not speak English very well and it sounded like a Australian, Indian accent.  In any case, he asked for me by last name.  He told me that he was with the maintence department of Microsoft or affliate of MS, He told me to go to my start button, them to my computer, then right click on my computer and go to manage, there he asked me to click on event viewer - applications and tell him approximetly how many warning and error messages I had, then he said that he would transfer me to his supervisor, to help me with the rest of the process.  When the other man got on the phone I asked him to give me the name of the company, his name and the other man's name and he did.  Frank Willams, and Richey Parker.
I told him I did not feel comfortable with this and asked for the phone # and if I wanted to I would call him back.  Then I checked here and I am glad I did.  Our local radio station warned us about this scam earlier this week.   Be careful people.

I received the same type of call as 'karina280' and 'BonChristen' from 647-258-6338.

The caller gave said his name is Harry Anderson and that the company he represented, Quick Resolve, is contracted to provide technical support to users of MS XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.  He advised me that my computer has been infected by malware that is making it respond sluggishly and wanted me to make changes as per his directions.

When I asked him if he was calling from Bangalore and if he had another name besides Harry Anderson, he said that he was calling from Toronto.

I don't expect the RCMP can do anything to prevent these types of scams.

Just got called by this company and they are bogus. Legit looking website, but when they called me, they called a computer geek, so they didn't get very far. Could hardly understand the fellow and had to get him to spell the name of the company. "Quick Resolve" has a professional looking site, but my research indicates they are a phone scam operating out of India that has been active for a few years. I'd not heard of this scam in my area of Canada, so have called RCMP to report. It seems they just go through phone directories and cold call.
Microsoft releases updates, they do not cold call people.

My wife and I have received several calls from the 647 258 6338   number. I have very little patience for these crank calls, so I just hang up on them. My wife how ever asked some questions and was told by the person on the phone that he represented Microsoft Tech center for Windows. He even gave his name as  Cyrus. They want you to go to your computer and do who knows what?  We never let it get that far.  Be careful, they are scammers!

Two numbers were given during the call: 647-258-6338, and 647-258-6738. This is one of the 'Windows tech' callers who wants to sell 2 - 5 year security plans. Further research reveals it is a scam - Windows (Microsoft) does not cold call people.
