Unfortunately certain companies are exempt fro the "Do Not Call" list.

Not sure of the full list but it does include charities and political parties and there is nothing you can do about it.

Don't shout at the person on the line - they are just doing their job.  How would you like it, if at work and just doing your job, people started screaming at you and being abusive just because you were following company instructions?

Be polite.   Just ask them to remove you from their calling list.

You are all wrong about the free cruises.  I worked in the travel industry for years and this is probably the cheapest method of advertising that the cruise lines and hotels have.

You are normally offered a free cruise during the slack months and possibly free hotel rooms.. The shipping lines and hotels know that despite the trips or rooms being free, you will be spending money.

Although food is free on board the ship, drinks at the bars/nightspots aren't.  Hair dressers, massages, gift shops all require up-front cash.  they know that when people are in a holiday mood they tend to spend money.

It also benefits any locations that you may visit. Would you really go to Jamaica, for example, without picking up a souvenir?  For the hotels,it  helps to stop them having to lay-off staff at these times.

The thing that most people forget is that it does take money to get there.  You are responsible for getting to and from the destination of departure, any documents you may need, i.e. passport and spending money.

Despite what you may thing, these are genuine offers.  Just ensure that its a reputable hotel/shipping line.

Besides, all these companies know that if you had a good time you'll probably tell your friends.  Word of mouth is the absolute best advertising.

1.  say "take me off your list"  2. if they start talking say "you just broke the law" 3. If they continue say "may I talk to your manager.   It usually does not get to 3.  We were call free for quite a while after doing this for 2 weeks.

I got a call from this number at 3:31 PM.. Recorded message for some survey company.. I hung up as soon as it started.. but very annoying nonetheless!!

Yes, I agree with people who think it looks a scam.The west way is we never answer the phone when we don't know the number  with unavailable name.

I have received several of these scam phone calls. This is not a survey. They want to sell a cruise.
Several times answered the survey to speak to somebody and then tell them to stop harassing me.
Next hour they phone again.

I have received a call from this '647-367-9259' number a few times now.  I never answer strange long distance numbers, because, without fail, it's always one telemarketer or another.  I am tired of my phone ringing at all hours of the day and night.

I hope that the law finds a way to monitor the activities of such companies, find a way to ensure that telemarketing regulations are followed, as well as enforcing criminal charges against individals and companies who continue to abuse the process and harass those on the Do Not Call List.  In my opinion, companies or individuals who are trying to outright scam people ought to be sent to prison as well.

Nope. These numbers are rented out temporarily to people, and by the time you could finally trace this number, it would probably have been rented to some other organization. This is perfectly legal and it is an abomination. Until the government steps in and makes THIS as illegal as organizations harassing people with their own numbers (and seriously fines [i.e. millions of dollars] Bell and other companies for renting the numbers out), we are stuck.

Just don't pick up the phone if you don't recognize the number. Real people will leave a message so you can call back. Scammers won't.

Just got a call this morning at 7:22am!  Lucky I'm already up to get ready for work.  If it was the weekend, I'd be very mad.

Thanks for the link to complain to CRTC - I have just done the same. I have been getting repeated calls from this number and I hang up every time, only to get a call back an hour or two later. If lots of us complain through the DNCL/CRTC link you have provided, maybe these people will be shut down! Cheers.

I hang up because it is a pre recorded message.  I do not know the company at all.  I think they are prank calls.  I have had several over the last I don't know for sometime.

Please block this caller.  The name of the caller is Roberta.  I do not know this marketing company.

I receive automated phone calls from this number every day. It says that we were choosed to answer a survey and win a cruise to the Bahamas. It looks like a scam and I end the call as soon as I have the pitch. How can we stop these calls ?

Just received a call today from 647-347-9259 @ 1:20pm today on August 18.  Saying was chosen to answer a survey.  My phone number is unlisted & private.  How did they get my number?  And I don't answer survey requests

I answered the first couple of times this number called, but there appeared to be nobody there.  They keep calling but now I do not answer.  They apparently do not know what a Do Not Call list is for.

Picked up and it was a pre-recorded message from a woman saying she was Roberta from Constant Research Network. I have gotten this same message from two different numbers other than this one recently.

just got a call from this number this morning.  I responded.  no one said anything.  then it hung up on me.  annoying.... I am on the DNC list, and i'm quite annoyed when this is not respected...

i swear, if this number calls one more fricking time, i will do all i can to track this annoying company down and burn it down to the ground.. it's getting really annoying at least 10 calls a day, i pick up, they don't say anything and they hang up. if they think it's FUNNY to be such a disturbance, well..i will prove those idiots wrong! is there anyway we can tell them to screw the hell off?

They are stealing something...perhaps the seconds after you answer and then the phone is disconnected.

Me too, just now...2:45 pm in Ontario.  I don't answer if I don't recognize the number or the caller doesn't identify.  A legitimate caller can leave a message.  Day after day this goes on, one anonymous "fishing" call after another.  It gets tiresome.  Call display seems essential now.

Just got a call from this number (17/08/2012;12h15;Quebec City). I was suspicious about the area code so I did not answer.

Got this call just now; it is a recorded message for a survey (doesn't say what kind of survey) and that after answering a few questions you can a cruise to the Bahamas. Really? Wow. I'm not dumb enough to believe I'm getting something that expensive for just answering a few questions. The options are press 1 to take the survey and 9 to be removed from the calling list, I pressed 9. They cannot be a reputable company because I'm on the do-not-call list, always have been, so obviously they are not part of a legitimate marketing firm. I called the number back and it is a recorded message again saying I was called because I've been 'carefully selected' to participate in the survey, press 1 to participate and 9 to be removed from the calling list, I pressed one and it said the survey time has expired. What a bunch of BS. I'm submitting my complaint here:

I don't answer the calls I get when there is no name or ID of any kind on my phone screen.  If there is a phone no. I google it and find out what I need to know...always a nuisance/scam call of some kind.
