I got a call on Friday, May 16th about noon CDST. When I opened my phone I heard a woman talking for about 2 seconds then it went dead.
On May 1st I had responded on-line for a job listed on CareerBuilder.com (Customer Service Rep. in Minnetonka, MN). I had to set up an account to apply.
On Wednesday May 14th I got a call from a person named Ti who said he was in Florida and worked for Employment Select. He said he was calling because I had applied for a job on May 1st and he needed information but could not tell me who the company was that was looking to hire. He asked if I was over 18, legal resident and the phone number to reach me at and best time to call. He said that in 2 days someone else would call to further interview me and he would send a confirmation message to my email. Later that day I got an email from "verifications@veriresme.com
I called the number that Ti called from to investigate. The woman that answered did not have much information. I asked if the web site that sent me this message was connected with "Employment Select". She was not much help. I decided to log and it asked me to fill in resume type information. Part of that was an email address for any employer, reference or school. With out the email you could not proceed. I used mine for one and another personal reference told me he got an email. He was contacted while I was still on their website filling in information. When he tried to respond back it said it could not connect or send, error message.
After I had filled in the information for what I thought was a job I was given the opportunity to get a $100 PizzaHut gift card for filling out a survey. Being out of a job and low on cash I tried it. It was a link to multiple offers for products and services. Many were big name companies. In order to get t he gift card you had to respond to 3 offers. Most wanted to set you up with a service or item that you only paid a small amount for or the cost of shipping and handling and wanted your credit card information. THIS HAS TO BE A SCAM! This phone number is in Canada.
Now I feel the need to contact my personal references and warn them. I am going to send this information to my local TV consumer investigations, CareerBuilder and anyone else I can find to put pressure on this fraud.

SOLUTION:
I called the number (1-647-476-2136) BUT, put (*67) in first. It rang through to a recording for a company called Home Based Businesses Center and gave you an option to remove your number from their computer or call list if you enter your phone number then the #. Post if it works for you so I can feel like I discovered something useful and of service to others from my greedy venture to get a free gift card. What is free anyway but faith, kindness and grief and who needs grief.
I tried it and I hope it works. Their message says it may take up to 24 hours to take effect. Good Luck. Post if it works for you. You do have to enter *67 first.

I don't answer the number if I don't know it.  They have been calling me at odd hours at night.  They don't leave a message.  I'm getting tired of this.

I also have received a phone call from this Canada phone number. Coincidentally I also was online and fell for the $500.00 Target gift card offer. I needed to take the surveys but evenually was informed I must take one of the offers, of which I didn't and now the Canada call. There is definitely a connection. Nothin's free and no one is giving anything away especially in this economy. Work hard and stay honest and we will always be a step above them....me.

I just recieved a call from 647-476-2136. I did not answer and they did not leave a message. When I called the number back the phone rang at least 25 times untill a machine picked up. It said that I requested information online about opening a home business and to be put on their no call list I should enter my phone number, area code first and press #. I did this twice and they said "I'm sorry, but you have entered a non working phone number." So I hung up.

I keep getting all these weird phone numbers on my cell phone. If I don't know the number I never answer it because it take away my minutes. But it's good to know that I'm not the only one who got this number. Hopefully there will be some kind of solution to this problem that we all seem to have!

heh its because in the US they can't get away with harassing phone calls as the law applies, but if your calling from: canukville, china, EU or Mexico they can't be reasoned with, weather they are collectors, sales calls, snarfers, or just surveying your info. there is no way to stop this but block your phone or don't answer. no law (except in the US) can stop unwanted calls to your cell phones and they know it that's why they moved their business to the great white north. so you cant catch them.

I dialed *67 and then the 647 number.  got a recording saying I had requested the same information.  NOT TRUE. The recorded message then allowed me to be added to its "do not call list".  I hope I did not shoot myself in the foot

Just got two calls from this #647-476-2136. Didn't leave any messages only called my new cell phone #.

They keep calling.. They let it ring a few times and then hang up.  It is very annoying!!

No idea who this is or why they are calling. My # is unlisted and I am also on the do not call list. Left no message

I got a call tonight out of nowhere from this number. I have just recently been looking for grants and scholarships for single mothers, I foolishly filled out information to receive more information than I got this call from some stranger asking me if I filled out forms to work from home. WHat?! Yeah,obviously the website I was on was tricking me into filling out a form for something totally different than what I was looking into.

She called this morning.  There was a lot of noise in the background.  She asked to speak to Leslie, I said "Speaking" and she hung up.  She had a bit of an accent.  Strange as my first name is not listed in the phone directory.

Got a call on my office line which isn't listed.  The caller id said Toronto Canada however the called was decidely not canadian.  Home based business survey - told her I didn't fill it out and she hung up.  Same scam as the credit card people saying they are going to lower your rates

IT'S AN ON-LINE SURVEY COMPANY....THEY ARE HARRASING ME AS WELL. I JUST BLOCKED THEIR NUMBER FROM MY PHONE AND I THREATENED TO SUE THEM. IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!

Yeah...I just received a call from this number 647-476-2136.  I heard the phone ring, so I picked up and said hello.  I then said hello again.  After I said hello twice, a woman replied "Hello!?  I said hello again, 10 seconds goes by, a woman says "Is this Marc?"  I can hear chatter in the background, which annoys me because automatically I assume I'm being F@%#ed with, so I hang up.  I don't know who it is?  I don't have any kin or friends from any such area ccode.  I see there are many victims of this number...what is everyone doing to combat these annoying phone calls?

who complaines ,, this has to stop all the harassment of calls i just got one too , its getiing to the point i look at the number and know not to answer any more ,,

some one has to stop this harassment of calls ,, which seems to call every one else too ,,,
