Just received the call, picked up and no answer. Then they hung up.

Luckily I can block phone numbers from calls and text messages. So this is just another one that will be added to the black list :)

647 is the secondry area code for the 416 area - not to "unregistered cell phones" only. I have friends who have landline numbers starting with 647.

Thats something i never thought about. They spoof the number to appear to be a legit company, and use call forwarding to that number to cover themseves, setting up a future call. Thanks for identifying that.

Actually the majority of 647 numbers are legitimate numbers held by individuals with either Land Lines or Cell Phones. I got one from 647-700-7000, just picked it up and hung it up.

For the price these phone companies are charging for services it's time they started policing all the annoying calls and listen to their customers when they complain. Remove the offending numbers from the system, cutoff the scammers!!

That happened to me too they have just tried to call me about 3 times in the last 10 minutes. I think once in plenty and they never say anything on the other end. This needs to stop.

LISTEN, I get calls from this phone number more than once on a daily basis. If you answer the call in 2014 and an actual person talks to you, the beginning of the conversation goes like this: representative claims he/she is from Wind Mobile and then asks you to confirm some personal information like your address and date of birth. When this happens and if you answer the questions, then you are NAIVE. Even if you agree when the representative negotiates that he/she will disclose some details like your street name or month of birth but you'll have to complete the missing details, then you are still NAIVE.

RULE#1: Don't disclose personal information to STRANGERS WHO CALL YOU because they can claim that they work for a certain company but in reality they don't. Watch the movie Identity Thief.

The best way to handle such incoming calls that ask for your personal info is to ask the caller a callback number and YOU WILL CALL THEM.

My experience with the call from 647-700-2435, the "representative" asked me to confirm my address. I refused and I asked her what the call is about. She irritably refused to give me the reason for her call, instead she told me to call *611 (Wind on my mobile). I didn't call 611, but I called the 6477002435, and I 'confirmed' it's associated with Wind because the standard Wind Menu voice machine came on. I spoke to a Wind representative and I told him someone from their office called me. He told me there are no notes or documentations on my account, no records that Wind has even attempted to call me, no reason why they would even contact me. I was surprised. Then who the heck called me? He asked what phone number called me. I told him, and in fact it's the number I called to reach him. He put me on hold for 2 mins to investigate.

GET THIS: The Wind representative told me that 647-700-2435 is not in any way associated with Wind Mobile. I asked him, "But that's the # I called to reach you!?" Then he came up with the conclusion that the "scam artist" used CALL FORWARDING. My call to 6477002435 was forwarded to the Wind Customer Hotline to make me believe that the # is really from Wind, with the hopes that next time they call me, I would be convinced that they really are from Wind and I would be more cooperative in disclosing my personal information to these scam artists.

I hope someone learns from my experience.

This number is not from a scammer or a debt collector. It is from Wind's customer support line. I know this because, when getting my number ported, they called me from this number. They also call back regarding surveys.

Called twice in a row, 7:55pm Sept 25/2013. If I don't know the number, I don't pick it up. Why should I incur airtime charges for some automated caller, that either is completely self-serving, or the equivalent of phone spam? Given nobody is retarded enough to actually follow through on whatever too-good-to-be-true-spam-offer these mafiosos are offerring, I firmly believe that the cellphone companies are behind this, and quietly condone it, since, it ticks away airtime, ultimately providing them an increase in revenue. Nice little scheme, innit? Between them, Bell Canada, and the Fed's DNC list, we're all pawns to a much bigger game, ultimately just providing employment to all 3 groups I just mentioned, since the truth is, none of them give a rat's @ss about their customers or constituents.
