I have been receiving calls from "Roberta, Constant Research Network" from the following numbers (call display) for more than a week:
514-447-3086  Aug.27 at 6:58pm & Aug.28 at 6:56am;
647-725-2910 Aug.29 at 7:54am & Aug.30 at 6:46am;
514-447-3084 Aug.31 at 9:00 am;
514-447-3086 Sept.1 at 9:00 am & Sept.3 at 9:00 am;
647-724-8581 Sept.4 at 9:06am;

Caller is a recording, identifies herself as Roberta of Constant Research Network; each time advising that my home was selected for a survey.  Previously I didn't answer or answered and immediately hung up.  Today I listened for more info and advised to press "1" to participate and win a cruise to the Bahamas and "9" to remove number from their call list - I pressed "9" and received recorded msg confirming removal - hopefully this works - I have already filed a complaint with the CRTC - Do Not Call Registry as calls are made outside the hours permitted for a survey.  This is not a legitimate survey, it is a nuissance, likely involves auto-dialling and smells like a scam.

Caller: Constant Research Network

This is a scam number.  Don't answer long distance calls from a number you do not know. If it's someone you know, he/she will leave a message. Scammers don't - they just keep trying until you finally pick up. Don't give in. And if you do answer, don't ever get sucked in by their message.

Purchase an A.T. & T. phone from Future Shop.  Less than $50.00.  Keep the message that is already on the phone.  It is a recording of an old man who says, 'Hello, please leave a message after the tone'.  You can then turn your "ringer" off.  You will never be bothered by them again.  Whenever you happen to notice the number in the window, delete it.  No point in complaining to the CRTC.  You'll get them calling you too!

We've been getting these automated survey calls for months. They do give an option to press 9 to be removed from the call list which has never seemed to work.

I wanted to give a Heads up!*****I've pressed 9 before when prompted to be removed MANY times and it's like the automessage doesn't accept it. Today I pressed 9, then I waited...and then I pressed 9 again and go figure an automated voice came on and said something like "Your request has been received you will be removed from our call list." So it seems this stupid auto-message accepts it if you press 9 more than once, but if you only press 9 one time it won't accept it.*****

Other #'s they call from with the same message:
1-778-785-6188-
1-647-367-8846
1-778-785-6230
1-514-447-8035
1-514-447-3086
1-647-247-1758
1-647-725-2910

I'm going to see if they stop calling since it seems to have accepted my request to be removed. *praying for a miracle here*
P.S. I've been posting this on all of the boards for the #'s listed above as I hope it is a solution!

For the past 3 days, this number has been calling me.  Not once have they left a message.
Nor can you call them back, it appears to be a one-way number, typical of these a****oles.

Best solution so far: get a new phone with a call block feature build in, they're supposedly pretty common now - Panasonic.  I'm going to consider getting one myself, so at least the phone won't ring when the offending number calls.

I think many times, these jerks are acquiring numbers from internet companies, numbers that can be called out, but not back.  A royal pain in the a**.

Companys call you to find out what time you are home, or not.

By answering your phone you are giving them information as to what time you are home.
At the same time by not answering  the phone you saying I am not home at the moment, try again later! :(

This information over time provides marketers a profile of the best time to catch you at home, and yes to sell you a much needed wedget! Oh, joy!

This information can be sold, ($$$$) and it can also get into the wronge hands (again, $$$$$)  :(

So what do you do????

Get an answering machine, if its important.......... they will leave a message. Simple.
Best of luck.

The criminals might think they are getting around the do-not-call rules by running a bogus survey. It is still illegal -- assuming that the intent isn't simply to trick one out of their credit card information.

In Canada, these are the contact numbers you need to call:

Canadian Anti?Fraud Call Centre
Toll-free: 1-888-495-8501
Overseas and local: 1-705-495-8501
Toll-free fax: 1-888-654-9426
E-mail: info@antifraudcentre.ca

Call your local phone company and inquire what they're doing about criminals fraudulently utilizing their telecommunications system.

Contact your local MP and inquire whether they are aware of this criminal activity, and what, if anything, is being done to prevent it and apprehend the guilty parties.

Give the police a list of numbers with pages printed off from 800 Notes or other sites that host complaints about phone fraud. Record personal phone messages or whatever else you think might provide evidence that someone is harassing you with the intent to commit fraud.

Remember that your hard-earned tax dollars are going towards paying public servants to act on your behalf. If they're not in the business to "serve and protect" citizens from gangs of criminals attempting to extort confidential information and money from the law-abiding, who are they actually serving?

According to the law, telemarketers that are affiliated with political survey can still call you even if you are on the National DNC List.  So, they use this to be legal.  Blame the CRTC for that.
