the caller ID says Reliance but when I google it, it is not Reliance Home Comfort.  I do not answer these calls and now they are calling me from another number

Called at 8:00 am this morning.  Tired of this.

The CRTC directs us to the anti-fraud centre, but the anti-fraud centre is only interested if you have actually been defrauded. I have also sent two emails to Minister Paradis, with no acknowledgement. I also emailed my useless NDP MP, with no acknowledgement.

Why not make a phone that blocks specific numbers?

We keep getting  a call from these people constantly and it is becoming annoying. These people have to be stopped and I think the law should be called upon to arrest and put them out of business permanently

Whenever a tm calls, and u pic up. The robodialer makes note when you re home. And then a human tm calls thee next day

This number phones at least once a day, bought a Panasonic phone with call block, best investment for this kind of call.

Got call at 5:56 pm, thurs Sept 6, 2012. Phone rang but nothing on the line. Unpleasant!!!

continue to get calls from 647-725-2914,   647-247-1759. Sent email to Prime Minister and local MP etc.
They sent it on to  the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, so that he may also be made aware of my concerns. And they gave this useless reply, bc calling the police wont help, why would they work this stupid nonviolent crime????

"Violations of the DNCL rules are taken very seriously.  The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the agency responsible for administering the Telecommunications Act and the DNCL rules, encourages compliance with the DNCL rules through a variety of measures.  As of June 30, 2012, the CRTC had issued 131 citations, 55 notices of violation for more serious contraventions, and 43 administrative monetary penalties, totalling more than $2 million, to telemarketers that had violated the rules.

The legislation that created the National DNCL sought to strike a balance between the interests of telemarketers and the privacy of consumers.  Accordingly, certain entities, such as registered charities, political parties, companies conducting surveys, and companies with whom a consumer has an existing business relationship, have been granted certain exemptions from the rules.  However, these organizations, aside from companies conducting surveys, are required to maintain their own do not call lists and are otherwise subject to the DNCL rules.

The telemarketing rules require, among other things, that telemarketers display the telephone number that they are calling from or that one can dial to reach them.  The rules also prohibit telemarketers from using automated calling devices and pre-recorded messages without first obtaining the express consent of the customer to receive such a call.

To date, Canadians have registered more than 10 million telephone numbers on the National DNCL.  Independent surveys conducted annually during the past four years have consistently found that the majority of Canadians registered on the National DNCL now receive fewer telemarketing calls.

Not all calls may be from legitimate telemarketers.  If you suspect that the call may be part of a fraud scheme, you can also contact your local police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), a national anti-fraud service jointly operated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Competition Bureau.  You can contact the CAFC, toll-free, at 1-888-495-8501, or by visiting www.phonebusters.com.

Called twice today, no response when I answer - they just hang up.

I too am on the DNC list (seems the pattern here).. and keep getting these numbers on my phone.. called phone company and beyond changing my number there is nothing i can do.. how is this possible?
these are the numbers i have been contacted by numerous times, all just hang ups but always when im sleeping for my graveyard shift. according to my tele comp, i can only block 12 numbers.. im already at 11. ive had this number since i was born im not getting rid of it because of some effing idiots.. there has to be something more i/we can do!

I have been getting calls for weeks from this number. As others stated there is no one there and it just disconnects. I am also on the DNC list but obviously they have found a way around this.

Ok they called here again.....this is 20 calls in the last 3 weeks..... At first I just hung up...now I don't answer I am also on the dnc list.......

It's an automated call from Toronto or somewhere in the USA??? (Nation's recession sounds more USA to me than Canadian).   The recording starts by stating that it's conducting opinion research on "our nation's debt crisis" and, in return for completing a short survey, you will receive a cruise to the Bahamas (air fare and a small port charge will, apparently, be extra).

Pressing '1' continues to the survey, pressing '9' will supposedly permanently delete your number from their database.

Not sure I'd want to press either the 1 or the 9 for them...  Could they be gaining access to my telephone line?
