THIS IS A SCAM! I work for a law firm and I looked up the people on the letter. They aren't even in the U.S. Sorry you didn't win a lot of money. But Do not put the check in the bank. It will come back a refer to sender.

To Billy Bob...
did you call the number on the front of the check or actually look the number up online? Scammers are notorious for even putting a number on the check and pretending to be the bank when you call, as well. Ask yourself this: Did you actually enter any lottery?

I work for a credit union that just got one of these checks back labeled "REFER TO MAKER"...luckily the member was smart enough to see if the check cleared before she sent any money out.

We received the same letter for $3800.  We called the Zion bank listed on the check to see if it was real.  They looked up the account # and check #.  We were on hold for quite a bit and the lady said that the check is indeed good.  Confusing and very tempting??   Has anyone taken action on this and had any results at all?

I received a letter from Pacific Security Services and a check in the amt. of 3,850.00, which was deducted from my total winnings in the amt. of 65,000.00, to pay the taxes on my winnings. Their phone number on the letter head is 647-219-6009. The letter instructs me to call Fred Logan to claim my prize in the amt. of 65,000.00. I almost fell for it! Glad I checked this site.

It is a scam.

The scammers are probably working from a foreign country that does not take this crime seriously and does not cooperate with law enforcement. Your local police or the FBI might take a report but the scammers will not be caught.

I received a letter today regarding winning $65,000 U.S. dollars in the "2010 Customer's Compenstion Lottery Draw".  The letter included a check for $3700 from "Star Fisheries Inc. P.O. Box 1150 San Pedro, CA, from JPMORGAN CHASE BANK N.A., Columbus OH.  The Address at the top of the letter is to "PACIFIC SECURITY SERVICES" 100 Park Ave, New York, NY 12006, with the telephone number of 647-830-5551.  All I had to do was pay $2700 in taxes, up front.  I was informd to call Mr. Fred Logan (claims/dispersements agent) before I cashed the check.
