recieved check for 4888.53 called the number a foreign voice answered saying hello. definate scam. im calling the bank where its written from and sending it to them

I am an employee of Nortrax, Inc. We are a construction equipment dealership owned by John Deere. Nortrax Financials is not a real company, nor are they in any way associated with our legitimate business.

This is a fraud and the individuals involved have printed fake checks designed to look like they are from our company. Please do not follow the instructions provided to. Contact the bank or local law enforcement. For your protection, please do not send these individuals any of your money.

I got the same letter and check for the same amount! These people need to be stopped! I called and talked to a Sean Peter. He claims he is in NJ but he is calling from Canada. He sounds mid-eastern! Go figure! Somebody will get to him and his crew soon!!! They need to run and hide!!!

I received the same letter and same check amount $4,888.53 drawn on JPMorgan Chase Bank, I then shredded it.

On 11/01/2008 I received an envelope with a canadian post mark and no return address. The envelope was addressed with a sticker,to myself, as if sender may have purchased some form of mailing list which appears to be professionally printed. Enclosed was a letter stating I had won a $100,000 prize and to contact sender by the 17th of Nov.and a check drawn on JPMORGAN CHASE BANK 6040 Tarbell Rd Syracuse NY 13206 in the amount of $4,888.53 which they state will cover a 3.8% Government tax on the winnings. Both documents sender information is NORTRAX FINANCIALS OR NORTRAX LLC with the JOHN DEER LOGO IMPRINTED ON CHECK. 3504 Oakwood Mall Dr. Eau Claire, WI 54701. From my investigation on the internet by way of "GOOGLE", I've come to the conclusion this is "INTERNATIONAL FRAUD" at it's best. My research also found that the phone number on the letter is a international/canadian cell number. There are typo's in the letter also. When you read my statement you'll be able to pick out a few of the inconsistencies. This group of people or person needs to be stopped, before they catch someone with there guard down and become a victim of this clever "SCAM"... P.S. This was a mailing, not a phone call.

Yes this is a scam sometime they change the name the new one is Forest Financial.  The companies may be real companies but the checks are no good.  Big scam they will drain you account.  You will be out the money.

Unexpected cheque, if cashed, has your account number on the back. Usually the one sending the cheque will contact you to arrange a money order back.  Your cheque will bounce and you are out the money.
Let your bank manager take responsibility for the cheque.

My brother received a check for the same amount today
and I was looking for scams.  the check is being drawn from
Union Pacific Railroad and is coming out of Miamisburg,OH

I received a letter indicating I won 100K and that enclosed is my check for $4,888.53.
I wonder if the check is authentic. It sure looks like it.
It is drawn on US BANK, NA. Miamisburh, OH.

Any advice?
