Who is this calling and where from

This number called my unlisted number so they are probably dialing sequentially which is illegal.  When I picked it up, there was a recording offering me a loan or credit card and then it said to press 2 if I don't want any more calls from them so I did but I don't know if it will work.   I haven't requested a loan or credit card from anyone.  I called them back and got a message saying that the Magic Jack customer was unavailable and to leave a message but then it said the mailbox was full.  I didn't know what magic Jack was, so I googled it.  It's a device that can be plugged into a computer and you can plug a phone into it in order to use VOIP.  This company must be a rinky-dink, fly-by-night firm.  They are probably scammers.

I refuse to answer calls from unknown sources. They will not leave a message or identify themselves. Number in place of name.

A legitimate caller will also have a legitimate call display name and leave a message on an answering machine.  These bogus callers use spoof numbers to cover their tracks. They are either scam artists  or collection agencies who also sometimes use this method to match people to their supposed phone number. In either case these are not people anyone should likely talk to. If your phone has the ability block the bogus number, or if the number on the call display isn't one you recognize, just don't answer it.  

I blocked this number immediately. Call today but did not leave a message. Could be telemarketers.

Received a phone call picked up and said Hello and dead air on the other end. When called the number back it was saying the magic jack customer is unavailable to take your message as it is full. Jan/7/2014.

Well written. Too many people feel they must respond to every call they receive. If they leave a message, then you can decide if you want to reply but if there is no message and you don't recognize the number just consider it a scam call. They will quit calling if no one answers.

Probable fraud attempt.  "Credit Services" will offer me a 0% rate credit card.

Guys, just do not be bothered with unknown caller numbers or private caller or no numbers.  Just installed a cheap answering machine or some phones comes with it and let it does the job to eliminate this low life annoying people job or what ever you call this type of activities.  I do not see this as a business offers as I do not like and I do not feel comfortable to make a deal over the phone because you do not know who is speaking on the other ends.  It could be some foxes wearing a sheep skin costumes if you know what I mean. Those nasty foxes are trained just to scam you once you talk to them.  So here is what I do:  I never pickup the phone unless I know for sure that caller number which appear on my phone screen otherwise I just let my answering machine does the job for me to answer the phone.  Then I will check and screen the messages.  If there is no message, it means there is no calls or that call never exist.  If there is a message, then it will be my decision whether I want to return the call or not.  Simple as that.

A***oles just keep calling.  We have an unpublished number and on the DNC list.  I have a Panasonic phone system so I will just block the number, it will ring once then show "BLOCKED CALLER"  Problem solved!

Why are these people calling me ? It is 2:05 pm Nov 12, 2013

There is no reason for this number to be calling me, or if you do at least leave a message.  I work nights and AGAIN I have been woken up by these annoying calls.  If I am unable to get back to sleep I am up for over 24 hours until my shift is done and I get home.

Got a call this noon hour from the number.  It is the second spam call I've had this AM...is there something about today!??

No one said anything & hung up. This is the 3rd time they have called in a week. When I look at ALL the "unknown numbers" called, I have to ask - Why report it if NOTHING is being done. I have been getting unknown numbers for years and nothing has ever stopped them. Again, I ask, WHY DO WE BOTHER TO REPORT IT IS NO ONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT???????????

NO  NAME  or  identification on  call display   (  name  calling  was  same  as  phone number.....so  that's a  immediate  tip  off  to  fraud  scammers  )  !!!

It is not a telemarketer. It is a fraud attempt to get credit card info. I answered and got an automated voice saying they were from the credit agency and I may qualify for interest rates as low as 0% on all my credit cards. I hung up immediately. Then I googled the number and it is someones majic jack number which no longer exists. If you get this call, do not give any info and report it immediately.

I'm so glad I can check here and figure out if it's a 'real' creep or just one I can block and move on from. Telemarketers should have a strict ban unless the number dailed has agreed it's fine with them. They should HAVE to display who they are.

That said, there are many laws that 'should' punish disturbing privacy/violating privacy, too bad justice is what it is today.

To paraphrase your own note, No one does business with a Company which makes nuisance calls to find out if people WANT or NEED their services.     Do you realize how many people you offend and how much of their time you waste?    It's easier to move over to calling someone who has ASKED for your services rather than be nuisance callers.

Janet, no one calls a business with an attitude demanding information about the company.  We are telemarketers.  Do you realize how much time we would waste going through the name and address and phone number and supervisors name with every angry person just so they could say go screw yourself and I'm reporting you?  So before you make accusations put yourself in the shoes of a telemarketer.

We offer a financial advisory service to people who WANT and NEED it.  We do not force our services down your throat, so if you are irate from the time you answer the call, it's easier to move on to someone a little more amiable who wants our service.  You could easily press two to be removed from the calling list.

What's suspicious about it?  Does the 6 look like it's planning a crime with the 8?

My caller I.D. said ONTARIO. When I picked it up there was a message in a very official sounding British accent saying that this was Credit Services and due to new legislation I might be eligible for reduced credit card rates. Press 1 for more info, press 2 to be removed from their list.
I pressed 1 and when the guy came on, I said I'd like to have the full name of the company and their street address. He said "Sure! Hang on! Then he hung up on me.

No real business would do this.

This company called me about my credit cards.  I thought it was sketchy, so I was nervous about providing any information, but they were able to provide me with a financial advisory service that helped me to combine my 7 cards into one low rate card.  My monthly payments are significantly reduced and more of my payments are going to principal.  I would recommend this to anyone with a high amount of credit card debt.

Found this number on my phone list, but since I don't have an answering machine, and I don't pick up if I don't recognize the number, then they will only call once or twice - then give up. Considering I also have an unlisted number, I have to wonder how they got mine.
