Just received a message from this man very HEAVY NIGERIAN ACCENT....HE SAID HE WOULD SEND ME MONEY IF I LOST MONEY...........I HAD CALLS FROM THE SAME NIGERIAN PONZI SCHEME CROOK.....DON'T CALL BACK AND REPORT TO FBI RIGHT AWAY

Thanks so much for all of your replies, I feel much better about the situation now.  I'll assume they have me on a list of some sort and the only information they have for me is my telephone number.  I'll block them now as well.  Thanks again everyone.

I received a call from this number a few days ago and out of habit, I didn't pick up since I didn't recognize it. I searched for the number and came across this. Thanks JD for posting the gist of your conversation because after I read that I didn't pick up when this number called me again. But it seems like this is repetitive and hopefully they'll stop calling.

Just received a call from this number.  I was there so picked up the phone and then remained silent to see what would happen.  Sounded like dead air.  I have added this number to my call blocker.  

I went to this site and it looks like a criminal venture to me...possibly off-shore. On their web site, they post  the "Provinces" where they can make these loans and proceed to list all 10 plus three territories. Why don't they just say we can do business everywhere in Canada (likely because they have no idea about Canada).  They don't make loans themselves...they just broker them (with organized crime????) or more likely not at all after they have got you to provide info they need to really hurt you.

They have some feeble "testimonials" from very waspish sounding people despite the multi-cultural nature of the country. Oddly enough, the "testimonials" are from people with names that are rather like the names given by the south Asian criminals calling about your (fake) 'Windows' problems.

This absolutely reeks of a criminal scam.

BTW what legitimate company would have employees who swear at customers (a behavior we are often exposed when the crimals are accused ofcarrying out a scam).

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.  I did contact the RCMP and they referred me to the anti-fraud center, I submitted a complaint there and also at the BBB.  I'm not sure how they got my information but my guess is that if someone had all of my details and new how to use them they wouldn't be messing around with a payday loan, they'd be applying for bigger items.  I'll keep monitoring my credit through Equifax to make sure all is OK.

That website was created only a few months ago, and has the minimal (1-yr) registration.
That means the company has not been in business for very long!

I'm sorry, I do not know the Canadian laws for payday loans, but if you did not apply ... if they have no legitimate proof you applied ... there is no legal way they can force you to comply with their demands.  Consider contacting the RCMP.

This company (northandloans.ca) called me saying "I was approved for the online pay day loan application I submitted".  A loan I never applied for.  I told them if an application was submitted it was done fraudulently, they hung up.  I called back and spoke to a person who said there was no way to identify the person who submitted but they provided all of my personal details including SIN (which he did not divulge to me).  When I told him someone was committing fraud and I would report it to the police, he used said "you are wasting my time", and followed with profanities "FU B#$%^".  I checked my credit profile, no issues and I've been trying to research this company without much luck.
