Carpet Cleaning in Mountain View, CA.  Recorded message, asks you to press 1 to schedule an appointment...if you don't, it hangs up on you.  Calling back, the number registers as "disconnected or out of service".  Pisses me off, I am on Do Not Call list. HATE THESE ANNOYING CALLS.

I get the call every now and then, including a similar number 650-230-1963.

Here is what I did to kind of protect from picking up the phone (mine is a pre-paid phone):
I save the number with an ID as Scam #. When the same person calls again, it would show "Scam" and I will never pick it up. Any better idea?

This # has called 9 times in the  past week.  I have joined the do-not call line for several calls; also made a special request to my phone co to block any number of phone numbers and yet they kept coming.  Can we be smarter then these scam artists--in this age of technology.  There has got to be a way--if they can get in, we should be able to get them out.

Relentless calls from this number non-stop so i finally amswered, Debt collector looking for the person that had my phone number 8 years ago. I received many calls for the previous owner of the phone number when we first moved in, which is how I know this person's name. Told them they moved, and then they asked for the person's wife, and a name of someone I've never heard of. Then they asked for my name at which point I told them to stop calling and blocked. Reported to FCC as well. Oh and I'm in the area code that they called from and it showed up as "Out of Area" on my caller Id. Very suspect company.

I have been getting this call to, many times. I know it takes  them a long time to get, those war crimminals but why can't they get these A/HOLES, with all the HI tech stuff we have now. They just don't want to.
They are already ease dropping on our cel phnes, but they can't get these A/Holes.
Some of the ones that get this messageor any message with a long distance call, just type it into your browser ) the phone #, and it will tell you who it is or click on the # and call it back but say nothing.

Most phone companies have phone number blocking features already available to you.  I have Time-Warner for cable, internet and phone.  I can block phone numbers like this directly from my phone (which I did, because they keep calling me, too.

My caller ID shows the phone number as belonging to TATA Communications.  Funny thing, TATA Comms. is an Indian (the country) comm. services provider (phone, internet, etc).  Strange...

I've missed or ignored calls because of faked caller ID for "Out of Area" or "TATA COMMUNICAT". Today, I answered a call and got this contact information from Melvin, a supervisor:

The caller uses 605-230-1968 for caller ID (which is in Mountain View, CA), however the caller didn't give a California address or telephone number. I haven't verified that NCO Financial Systems places calls from 605-230-1968. I have only the word of the person who answered, and Melvin, the supervisor. And yes, there was keyboard noise and muffled conversation in background while I waited for him.

Often, these debt collection callers insist that I identify myself before they say who they are. They want to know if my number is a good contact for <some random name>, and if I know where to contact <some random name>, etc. They falsely claim my number is listed as a contact for <some random name>. The callers want me to believe they called a "wrong number." Stating the obvious, it's clear these debt collectors are fishing for contacts by calling numbers at random. I give no information to anonymous callers.

Judging by the two people I spoke to, 605-230-1968, "NCO Financial Systems," may be a call center operating out of India.

They are calling to get info on someone who listed you as a reference.  We got the call they were asking about my husbands nephew who we haven't seen in 15 years.

Pretty sure it's a collection agency, I've never answered, just let go to mail You can hear keyboards clicking in the back ground & people talking, sometimes shouting. They are relentless. I've been not answering this # for 6+ mos. 3x a day +. Gonna pay Verizon $5 a month to get it blocked.

JUST GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER WITH THE + IN FRONT OF IT. THE PHONE COMPANY TOLD ME IN THE PAST THAT THIS INDICATES AN INTERNATIONAL CALL. NO MESSAGE LEFT BY THEM. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO IT IS AND I WILL BLOCK THE NUMBER.

it looks like calls from this # have been going on for a long time. after picking up and listening I heard no one on the line, but I did hear voices in the background, then he responded to what sounded like a womans voice so it sounds like they are calling from their home. maybe some mentally disturbed person with a dialing problem? after several minutes they hit redial ! I just used my call block feature for that number.

Just answer the phone "Dominos pizza.  May I take your order." Or use some buisness name. They will leave you alone.. LOL

This company is NCO.  The are a debt collection company.  They have many phone #'s. They will call and keep calling until they have the debt they are trying to collect.  If you call them back you can listen the the answering machine. It will connect you with a person at some point so don't wait too long unless you actually want to talk to someone..

This number has been calling my cell phone twice a day for about 2 weeks now. But, because of the info in this forum, I just don't answer. I don't owe any outstanding debts, and if my relatives do, then I don't want to help track them down.

I have to sleep with the phone's ringer off, though. Some of the calls come in as early as 5 am.

I called then back. Asked for someone I did not know. Told them to stop calling or I would place a complaint with the FCC. We'll see...

They get you information by online resumes, be careful what information you put on your resume

all Debt Collector Harassment needs to be stopped by a ear drum shattering sound that can be activated from any phone that receives these types of calls...

I hung up the phone guessing it was a debt collection agency & a google search proved me tho be right.  There was a second call placed within five minutes from 650-230-1968

Got a call on my TextNow message, annoying callers from Collection Agencies who kept calling my Text number.  I am thinking of paying for my text messages instead of getting these random callers.  I guess Free does have a price...[sigh]

1st let your sister know "NEVER" give out any personal information.  What the company can be doing is what is known as "PHISHING".  They are compiling and gathering information.  Previously I worked in a collection company.  They used systems that had important information about a customer.  If they are in use of those types of systems, with just your address they can see what automobiles are registered (make, model, year, colors), people showing at the residence, dl registrd. ect.  What I would do for starters is go to "free credit report.com" and request a copy of your credit report.  You are intitled to 1 free credit report a year.  Also, you may want register w/one of the credit protection agencies such as debix.com or lifelock.com.  I have seen too many people where there credit was ruined and they were not aware of it until they attempted to make a purchase or apply for a new credit card.  They only time you should ever give out any personal information is when you contact a company directly never from a call made to you.  Just recently there was a gentleman that applied to disibility benefits in New York however, he was denied!  He was told that he made too much as a flight attendent.  This man had not worked in years!  They NY police contacted the police dept in Miami, Fla.  They arrested the flight attendant after a flight that he was working on retuned back to Miami.  This man not only was working w/stolen id but, was able to obtain a job of all things "THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY"  So much for airport security............ Good Luck!!!!!
