There is way to slow these guys down; however, it takes some work and patience.  The first thing you need to do is contact your telephone service provider and get the code for tracking calls (Comast is #57) before you receive another call.  Comcast suggested that you wait until you get three calls and then you can a complaint with the federal government at www.ic3.gov     The process takes a while and it is better than nothing.

Answered then hung up immediately.  That's what I do with all unfamiliar caller ID calls just to stop the ringing.

They do, it only keeps the honest ones honest. It doesn't protect you from the scammers, frauds,extortionist and illegal telemarketers. Those kind don't obey any laws period. And they spoof the phone numbers and caller ID's.  People tend to really misunderstand how it works and generally do not understand that the DNC does not protect you from the scams,frauds,extortionists and the unscrupulous nasty's that refuse to obey laws. Charity's and political, along with some survey's are exempt from this.  Most of those will place you on the their internal DNC if asked though and there is a political DNC (it works very well too I might add) list you can sign up with.  

Complaints filed with the DNC and other agency's are used to establish a pattern, then they can take action. They do make busts, they do fine them, and they do make arrests. You also need to realize that some of these bad actors are located in foreign country's and then their government has to work with ours. Slow it may be, but it does happen!

My history with sales offers have put me over the edge and I have had to contact the Federal Trade Commission regarding harassing calls. The worse call came from someone who actually claimed to be the US government offering me a grant. When after the 20th call I informed them that what they were doing was illegal and that the area code they were using does not exist the person on the other end cussed me out calling me a Mother#####, A####, and other choice derogatory terms, I knew the person on the other end was not afraid of losing his job so no matter how good the grant may have been I sure did not want to talk to such a foul mouthed person who did not speak even halfway decent English. I blocked that number but he called every day, several times a day just to say one of his favorite terms of endearment for me before he hung up. I had to block several numbers but I still get several robo calls a day from everywhere and about everything. What can I do to REALLY get my name on the "do not call list"?

Plan A: block # if your phone has that capability.
Plan B: don't answer if caller ID reads out "unavailable, "out of area," or a business you do not recognize.
Plan C: if you do answer and are given the option to press a # to opt out, DO NOT do that.  Scammers pay no attention to that and all that does is verify yours is a working # and will guarantee many more calls.

Protect yourself; it's obvious that the scammers stay several steps ahead of the National Do Not Call Registry.

Got a call from this number. like most of you have an answering machine. Did  not recognize the number there fore did not answer even while it is ringing. This is the time for open enrollment and scammers are looking for and easy scam.

Will the government ever enforce the "Do not call list"? Didn't think so.

Just got a call from this number, I'm in NC and I didn't answer and the lest no message. Caller if said it was a cell phone??? Glad I didn't answer!

Call came in Saturday morning at 9:15 am.  Caller ID showed "alert".  I called the number back and their recorded message stated, "Thank you for calling back.  If you wish to be removed from our list for future promotions, please press 1 now."   I did and it said it would take up to seventy two  hours to go into effect.  I put them on my block list anyway.  The problem is that only holds 10 numbers and that doesn't come close to the number of unwanted calls I want to block.

Advertises a Senior Assistance Program....Guess what, the acronym is SAP!

just got call says it's for Senior Citzens, been getting this call more than once, i waited on line to listen to it all says at the end push 5 to get taken off list did and it just hung up on me, will report to do not call

I just had phone call from this number, 19:00pm. 8th Nov.  Did not answer and no message left.

got a call from 650-277-2352 on Nov. 2--same message as reported by GE Oct. 31--did not hold on for full call.  Hung up after "If you are a senior citizen 60 or older,..." Will not answer again.  Wish all these scam callers could be stopped.  Haven't gotten one purportedly from the IRS yet.

Left message stating TO AVOID LEGAL ACTION that either I or my attorney should call 425-484-8569 and that they were from the I R S

Got a call from this # this A  M w/ no msg on caller ID. If they don't leave a freakin' msg, how the heck do they expect to sell me anything thet are pushing??  Maybe it's the NSA spying on your phone records???

Caller ID said Cell Phone CA. If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up. IF it's that important, they'll leave a message on the machine, which this one did not.

Call hang up at 650 pm PDT.  Looks like these scammers changed their phone number again.

Listed as "Unknown" - very helpful. No message. This call came in after six yesterday evening. Jerks
