Got a call yesterday and didn't answer b/c didn't recognize caller ID (said "verification fr"). Called again today and answered - wasn't sure if it might be work-related or not. I answered and someone just said, "Hellooo?" And I hunt up. :)

Had 5 calls in 2 days from this number. The one time I picked up, it disconnected. As a rule, I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. If it is important, they'll leave voice mail.

After multiple missed calls, disconnects, etc. I finally picked up and a guy told me he was calling from the San Francisco Chronicle, asking about my recent subscription. I haven't subscribed and told him so. He had my name and address and asked if they were correct, then asked me if anyone else could have ordered the newspaper. I told him no. When I call the number, it says 'Thank you for calling customer service. If you would like to be removed from our list, please enter your phone number.' The whole thing is odd.

I just received a call from this number as well.  No message left.  Seems like these types of calls are getting more frequent and we are listed with the donotcall.gov as well.

Where do you all live?  I live in Ontario, Canada and I just had a call from this number.  Tried calling back and it's busy.

Its a collection agency and they are extremely annoying. They won't stop calling you even if you ask to be removed from there list and aren't even the person they are looking for...

I tried to pick up this number that has called numerous times this week. I called it back and was removed from their call list. I still have no idea what company called me.

I was receiving calls from this number multiple times a day for a person who never lived at my address. After asking to be taken off their call list many times and not getting results I had to escalate the procedure.

I finally managed to get them to take me off their list. I had to sort of trick them into telling me more info though. They asked for a person that i didn't know and asked them to call a phone number. So i called them and they asked for my name and I said it would be under xxx-xxx-xxxx phone number. Then they told me the name and I said i guess that is who it is registered under. Then they asked for my address. I said which one and they told me his old address (which wasn't mine). So then i was informed how much money the person owed and who he owed it to. Turned out to be an electricity provider. So i asked for the address of the collection agency and then asked to speak to the operators supervisor. Once transfered i informed then that I was not the person they were looking for and was sending them a formal letter to be removed from their call list... Then i hung up and called the power company and gave them all the information and told them i didn't want to be called again. They said they would take care of it. I didn't stop there though i also filed a complaint with the better business bureau and i finally got a response from the company saying it was their mistake and i would not be called again.... FINALLY!!! Its been almost a year of constant calls.

I keep getting calls from this number as well. They started a few days ago and it is now 11 April 2008. It's a pain! Same thing, one in the morning and one in the evening, no message left. I tried to call it back this afternoon and it went straight to the customer service message, which I let play. That played twice, and then it just disconnected.

I have been getting calls from this number for months. They keep asking for someone who has never lived at this address (I live in a new home). When I tell them this and ask to be taken off their call list they just say they can;t do that. I wish someone would just put their number on an autodialer and keep it from calling out :)

I get these calls too, turns out it is a collection agency trying to locate dead beats... They use false info to try and find out if you are who they are looking for.

Just received a call from this number at 6:48pm in Boston MA. They claimed that they were calling from the publishers of Verizon Yellow Pages Directory Service.

They asked if I was in receipt of my current Yellow Page directory for my town. When I answered that I was in receipt and was not in need of anything additional, they ceased with any questions.

I did find that the individual did not disconnect from the line however when I went to call their number back a minute later. I assume they are using an automated dialer for this reason.

Just got one no one answered when i picked up the phone.
i hope they stop

This number has been calling but no one answers when I pick up.

I get repeated calls from this number in the morning and later in the evening. Whenever I respond to the call, the call is disconnected. After a few times I tried to call back this number, it says 'Thank you for calling customer service. If you would like to be removed from our list, please enter your phone number.'

Also, the similarity with Julie is that I subscribed to San Francisco Chronicle through a high-school student who was selling subscriptions to get  points to get money to go to college. He did mention that the newspaper office would call to confirm is the name, address is a valid one. I do not know if the San Francisco Chronicle  has an automated system to keep checking on the phone number!!!!

Got a call at 10:00am from this number and left no message.

Missed calls throughout the call. Called at 9pm and it went immediately to a voicemail box prompting me to leave my number so that customer service will not call me anymore. Went to a California number - strange.
