I got the same call... seemed suspicious... excellent computer program actually almost fooled me.
When I said, "this sounds like a computer and I don't talk to computers, so good-bye",  it responded, "What? I sound like a computer?  I'm a live person!  I'm just using computer prompts for quality control."  I  then repeated a question I had asked earlier and got an obvious computer answer.  When I asked for more information, I was directed to 800 270-0018.  Obviously, I'm not going to call!!!

Thank you for your thorough report.  Hope others read before sending donations to a sham organization.  There are many worthwhile organizations that assist veterans past and current.

Called on 06/10/2013 at 08:40 PM from Palo Alto, CA. No message was left. I got a call from this # on 5/31 also. Caller ID shows. V6102040070000. My experience has been that a Caller ID of V followed by a long series of #'s is Rachel and her friends from Card Services. I base this opinion on a few hundred calls over the last several years from Card Services. Only one poster has actually identified this caller. They say it was a telemarketer fundraising for Vietnam Veterans. Either way, one more call and I block them.

This number called me once today and once yesterday.  The phone rang twice and then they hung up.  I didn't even get a chance to answer.  86% to admin?  Give me a break!

Call on caller ID but line is a line I have connected to my printer which answers as a fax machine so when they keep getting a fax machine they may quit.  Since I've set up this way I find few call back as their number is no longer showing up on my  caller ID.

Received a call from 650-644-4123 did not answer.  My number is on the do not call list - that seems to
be a joke.  Still keep getting unwanted calls.  Will not answer the phone if I don't recognize the phone number.

Don't give them a penny, they keep most of the money for themselves. If you want to give to the Vet's contact your local VA and ask them how to support them. They are nothing but a scam.

Caller ID shows Palo Alto, Ca. Got a call from this number yesterday, also. When I answered, there was no response then they hung up. Seems like they are looking for good phone numbers to sell.

I think the problem is that a number of alleged charities are using third party services to place the calls.

If, as a previous poster reported, this is an agency doing fundraising for a charity, the Do Not Call list does not apply.  They are supposed to place you on an internal Do Not Call list if you request them to.  If they refuse or call you after a reasonable interval, say 5 business days, then they are in violation and can be reported.

Received numerous calls from this number.  No messages left.  Comes up out of area on caller id. Last call receieved June 1, 2013 at 12:00 pm.  Annoying and harassing.  Going to notify the authorities.  Am on Do Not Call Registry.

Got a call from this number tonight around 8pm.  I Said hello but no one said anything. I called the number back but no answer.

I got a call from this number 650-644-4123 on 6/1/13 at 5:17pm at my home in NYC.
My caller ID said UNKNOWN NAME.
I called back the number and heard a strange "ding" and then got a very odd, automated recording of a person which tried to act as if it was not an automated recording.  I know that sounds weird but it is the truth.  The system was listening to questions I would ask, for key words and then respond as if it was a real person.
The "caller" identified themselves as Jeff Stewart of the American Veterans Support Foundation. When I asked what that was the automated response said it was a "very special project" of the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation.  When I asked where they were located they said Eden, NJ (which is odd since the area code is in Palo Alto, CA).  When I asked how can I get back in touch with them, they gave me an 800# (1-800-270-0018) which led back to a "Fundraising Company", the woman would not give me her name or the name of the company and she said they were a company which does fundraising for many different groups.  I then researched the "American Veterans Support Foundation" and found this posting about them:


"It turns out that they are a legal organization, but although they comply with the law by reporting to the state, in fact they are in business for themselves. According to the attorney general's office, they collected $4.3 million dollars last year.  They claim 86 percent for expenses and only 14 percent goes toward helping veterans."

I received a call from phone number 650-644-4123 and it says that it is from Palo Alto CA.  I received it at 3:16 PM.  I am on the Do Not Call List and I still get calls like this. My guess is that it is a telemarketer. I know no one in California so I refuse to answer their call.

Called on 05/31/2013 at 07:32 PM from Palo Alto, CA. Caller ID also shows Palo Alto. No message was left, so at this point no one posting here has any idea who this caller is. I've gotten calls from palo alto before, but I doubt it's the same caller as this # has only been reported for the last few days.

I phoned back and I got some guy claiming to be apart of a Veterans fund campaign.  When I attempted to ask him to take me off the calling list he didn't respond and didn't hang up.  Annoying!!

Called (650) 644-4123 and got voice mail listing their office hours (9-9) with message to call back during those hours. The "company" did not identify themselves. At the end of the recording there was a prompt to leave your name and number... hmmm

they called, left no message.  I called back and a guy said "hello" and I hung up.  Don't know who it was.

ANOTHER hang up.

This # call and when I answered all I got was a dial tone.  I call back and only got a dial tone.
