We receive calls from this number as well. The caller ID shows "(165)07771212 in our RingCental log. This makes it difficult to "block". I have also reported several times to RingCentral (who has the worst frontline support EVER!) Takes forever to get to the real support....they tell me they are working on it and never get back to me.

Received a call on our do not call cell phone at 3AM in the morning

All you Ring Central guys need to relax. This isn't a Ring Central problem. I have two VOIP lines, one with Vonage and the other with Nextiva. 650-777-1212 calls both my VOIP numbers simultaneously and at the same obnoxious hours of the morning. This is some malicious hacker who might be looking for numbers for god knows what or nothing, just making trouble. In my case these calls have been coming for months and at odd hours. I've just wasted a couple hours of my day trying to get Vonage to do a "trace" but they say they can't and can't "block" the number either. My guess is this is a law enforcement issue that should be taken up with the Federal Trade Commission. But it would help to have a decent technical explanation for what's actually going on. Obviously, 650-777-1212 is merely the caller ID you're seeing. Who or what is making the calls is another matter. How they do it would be important to know.

I received 11 calls in a row from this number! What a pain!
Dee 2011-10-24 00:06:26 Unknown
I also have a Ring Central fax line and have been getting multiple calls from (650)777-1212 and yet the calls do not show up in my call log, but they do make it to my email. I called RC and complained. They say it is a spoofing number, but can't explain why the number is not in my call log. I blocked the number.

I agree completely ... same thing to my Ring Central 800 number at 4:00am this morning, rerouted through my mobile. I have an immediate family member in ICU and you can imagine the alarm that occurred from a call coming in at 4am. I have called RC and complained and also let them know that if the cloaked and fraudulent calls do not stop, we all may band together with a class action law suit!

Same issue - receiving multiple calls from this number thru Ring Central. Have a 888 number for both phone and fax. When I look at my Ring Central account the numbers don't show up on the call log! Interesting, blocked the number. Will see if it happens again.

We receive a daily call from this number, between 3 and 5 in the morning, to our toll-free business number. Since we pay per minute for this service, it is not only annoying but it also drains resources.
Trish 2011-10-22 09:55:00 Unknown
Also receiving calls on several of my Ring Central toll-free numbers tonight from 650-777-1212. Blocked the number, so hopefully this will help.

I got 3 calls in the night starting at about 1:30 am from 1-650-777-1212 to my Ring Central #. From the previous posts I see here, you would think they would have found a way to block these calls for everyone by now.
Kat-in-TX 2011-10-21 13:30:44 Unknown
I received 4 calls, very early this morning, from 650-777-1212, to my Ring Central FAX number: 2 @ 3:20 AM; 1 @ 3:38 AM & 1 @ 3:39 AM. Bad thing is, I have RC alerts going to my phone.

Received a call on my ring central 800 number at 1:00 a.m. - blocked the number in ring central.
scorpinga 2011-10-19 14:27:24 Unknown
the call did not appear in my log either. I generally block calls from the log, however could not this time. Anyway, follow the instructions for ring central that are listed above.
scorpinga 2011-10-19 14:25:10 Unknown
Thank you so much for the step by step ring central process. I also have ring central and just blocked this number. It seems that it may be a Google voice number as that is the only number that I know that the user can apply different options - such as "this number is out of service".
Rob 2011-10-19 12:30:05 Unknown
Same story.
Had calls from this number since Oct 12- today (Oct 19) so far.
RingCentralUser 2011-10-19 10:29:37 Unknown
First call from this number to our RCline yesterday at 3:32pm. RingCentral needs to be more transparent if this is their doing. If not, then get to the bottom of it.
Got me too 2011-10-19 09:47:08 Unknown
This sounds like something fishy with ring central. Sounds to me like they're doing this to run up our account balance and profit from the costs that may occur.
Brian 2011-10-19 06:44:31 Unknown
Same story. Calls at all hours of the day and night from this number. Tonight was the latest yet, 2:20am. Oh, yes I also use RC.

Received a couple more calls even tho I was told last week that testing was done.
I just got off the phone with Ring Central. The person on the phone tole me that they are "testing".. but he didn't know what they were testing. And he didn't know when they'd be done.
IF you get charged for any of these calls, be sure to call Ring Central and tell them you were annoyed by the calls and that you were charged for calls to your fax# or your regular 800/866 number and they should give you extra minutes on your service for the hassle.
Nothing more than that to report. So it doesn't matter if you put it under DO NOT CALL or BLOCK list, it won't help, it's the tech people from Ring central who are doing the calling so you will still get the text message saying you received a call.
It would be nice if they left a message saying "THIS IS A TEST, ONLY A TEST.. PLEASE IGNORE OUR CALLS".. but of course, THAT would be the right thing to do!
Good luck all!

I reported this here on October 12, and blocked 650-777-1212 from RingCentral that day. I also submitted a report to RingCentral, including a link to this thread They acted like they had not heard about it, and said they would look into after having read all these posts from its customers.
I have since continued to receive 2 calls a day, right after each other, despite having added the number to my RingCentral Blocked list. I have confirmed that the number is still on my blacklist, but somehow it can still ring through.
It does not show up on my call logs, just in the notification emails.
If this doesn't stop, I'm going to cancel my RingCentral account and upgrade my Ooma to a premier account so I can add a second line to that. It's far cheaper than Ring Central anyway.
RingCentral, are you listening??!

Multiple daily calls from (650) 777-1212 to ring central 800 number.
Kelly 2011-10-17 15:11:26 Unknown
We also have a ring central 800 number, and for a good number of days keep getting missed calls from this number (650-777-1212). We get a large number of calls from overseas, and we just assumed it was someone overseas trying to call the 800#. It doesn't show up in call controller, but it does show up in my email as a missed call. Occasionally it will ring however. Usually not though.
TechnologyResellers 2011-10-16 09:39:28 Unknown
From the company settings page, click on "Edit" on any extension. In the laft side menu there will be a ling to "Block/Allow Number". I got 2 calls on Friday to my Ring Central 855 number. Worth noting that I got the emails alerting me to the missed calls but the calls do not shop in my call log online. Hmmm?
Kit 2011-10-15 21:19:56 Unknown
"Because our 800 number is Voip technology with Ring Central I can block the (650) 777-1212 number. "
"I got the "two in a row" calls this morning like Shelia did (poster above)."
Same EXACT thing here.
Exact thing!
2 calls, and I have a RING CENTRAL 800 # also!
Regardless of why RingCentral is doing this, it unnerves me extremely that they are committing fraud by cloaking their behavior behind a number that belongs to someone else.
Also with Ring Central 2011-10-15 18:55:48 Unknown
Got a call from 650-777-1212 left a no voice for 30 seconds, blank tape call, did someone get our numbers from Ring Centrals Files... Seems to be Ring Central Customers getting called here? Why is time wasted on Ring Central Customers only? I like Ring Central very much, perhaps they should look into this.
MaureenA 2011-10-14 22:56:03 Unknown
I just called Ring Central.. They put me on hold for about 7 minutes..when the man came back, he said he spoke to LEVEL 2 Tech support and was told that these are TEST CALLS and should stop. They call your Ring Central numbers to verify (something) and once they are verified they will stop. or something like that.
I'm not sure I believe what they are saying.. but we'll see if they will stop.
someone else with Ring Central should call and ask the same question and see what their answer is.
Anyways.. i do hope they stop!!!!
K&K 2011-10-14 21:40:37 Unknown
Same thing... just received on our Ring Central account. Since we chose a vanity number unaffiliated with RC, it seems logical to surmise that someone has gotten a hold of RC's numbers and is doing some kind of campaign. Has anyone reported to RC yet?
We added them to our blocked list. All good now.
Diana 2011-10-14 19:59:40 Unknown
I have received five calls in the last 20 minutes through Ring Central. I get charged for these calls. Contacted Ring Central and said they blocked the number. Five minutes later I received four more calls. Ring Central thought it might be a scam and is attempting to found out how they are getting thru. Will update when I can.
MaureenA 2011-10-14 18:14:48 Unknown
Received more messages again just now to my RingCentral FAX #... which BTW.. I believe charges per fax received at some point.
Is this a ploy from RC to get you to pay more? Hope not!
Anyways.. I have blocked this number and it still rings thru viz a text message.
A total PITA!!!
Strange how it's only to RINGCENTRAL numbers!!!!
Steve 2011-10-14 17:21:54 Unknown
Yep, I received calls two in a row on my ring central 800 #. No message or fax just hung up. Somebody probing ring central numbers for something and they should be reported. I am going in a blocking them as well... Weird as all of these strange numbers always come from California for some reason. Wonder why that is?
