don't like getting unsolicited calls   we have a do not call membership and a law in NY for robo calls.....

Thanks for taking the time to reseach that it is an unknown "non-profit." I look at it from this viewpoint, if they are a real, legal, HONORABLE foundation, why use the convoluted spelling for a callerID name. If they are honorable, then use a CNAM saying what they are.

Alternative thought is that there could actually be a non-profit, tax exempt foundation supporting American veterans that made the tragic and likely fatal mistake of hiring a ROBOcalling marketing outfit. That has happened before. Sadly, will happen again in the future. And because the way the laws are currently written, as long as "non-profit" and "foundation" are used, FTC won't go after these scamsters.

Only reason I answered was I have relatives in Cali...don't answer.

Called at 8:46pm... asking me to donate to veterans support charity or something. Said call recorded for quality assurance. Sounds like a cop or official somebody, or someone using a voice-generating computer algorithm...due to halting speech, and strange delays (or was being told what to say). Refused to provide website information when asked 2 times. Said wanted to mail out kit with usual guilt inducing, 'can we count on you to..." Told hem I had no money and asked what their website was, they persisted, with 'goodwill $20 or $15 donation". Said no money again. I asked for website again...they said thanks, hung up. Like talking to a human robot.

I get the same thing, and it's up to twice a day most of the week.

These people have been calling me everyday under the number 650-870-9952 leaving no messages. I blocked that number and they called 1-650-870-9952. I called them to ask who they are and why they keep calling me. They gave me the name of the organization and asked for a minimum of $15 donation.

Got a hang up from this number, 650-870-9954, but CID read "SNFRNCSCO".  Looks like San Francisco to me, not South San Francisco.  As CaliBarbi pointed out, area code 650 is San Mateo County.  San Francisco, as CID on my phone suggested, has area code 415.  They can't even plug in their phony information right...

650-870-9954  Received call from this number. I live in a different area code; "OUT OF AREA" comes up on my Call ID. SSNFRNCSCO, "South San Francisco", is a city in northern San Mateo County, CA.  However, my research shows this is a VoIP line; the caller can be anywhere if the number has been ported.

I have a phone announces callers with caller ID.  I never answer if I don't know who they are.  They will eventually give up.  My only solution.

The California Registry of Charitable Trusts is great!!  All the scammers seem to be listed there.

Lawyers Copilevitz & Canter speciallize in representing all kind of
telemarketers, commercial and for "non-profits".  This people must
need legal help in cirvumenting the "do not call" list. And they must
get sued very often.

These sleaze balls only contribute 12% of their collections to veterans and keep the other 88% for themselves.
They skirt the DNC list because they claim to be a charity. The DNC list should only allow charities that contribute at least 85% or more to the claimed cause. Of course our government won't do this because it would be the right thing to do.

Related to veterans.  I filed a surviving spouse claim.  Declined.  Now I get daily/weekly phone calls.

Even if the organization uses the words veterans or military families in its name, that doesn?t necessarily mean veterans or families of active-duty personnel will benefit from your donation. The same is true with the words police or firefighter: it doesn?t mean that any member of the local force is involved. Also, the BBB says many veterans? charities include virtually the same words in different order or slightly different form.

Some phony charities use names, seals, and logos that look or sound like those of legitimate organizations. Before donating, check out an organization online by visiting any of the following: National Association of State Charity Officials, Guidestar, Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, CharityNavigator, or American Institute of Philanthropy. You can also check out charities with your state government?s charity registration agency, usually through the attorney general?s office.

Another complaint submitter here indicated the caller was American Veterans Support Foundation.  Unfortunately, there is no such organization registered with this name.  People need to be aware that scammers will use names similar to that of legitimate charities.  It's truly a shame they are willing to do this.  But of course, they know the best way to get your money is to use names of organizations we would feel compassion for.

These Butt%$@#s called 10 times in the last 6 weeks.  I blocked 650-870-9954 and they started using 650-870-9952.  Be sure to block both from the start.

Phishing.

I have received four calls from this phone no. I recognize it as a telemarketer since I don't know anyone from South San Francisco, CA.

It does ABSOLUTELY NO GOOD to report these calls. They DO NOT FUND this Do not call placebo piece of crap....   I swear... if I ever find the a***ole who wakes me up all day every day...

Unwanted wake up calls all day every day.  God help these people if I ever find out who is causing my sleep deprivation...

Called 6/19/13 5:33 pm.  I answered.  No answer.  I hung up.  Said San Francisco on caller-id.

tired of these A_ _ holes bothering me when NO ONE is on the line.. this is beyond a nuisance... so I am now reporting all calls to the FTC...
