This is 100% NOT true.  One debt was sold four different times to four different collectors.  Out of the four only one of them mailed me something and it was only once.

Debt Collector
My husband said a lady called him from this number at work to ask him if he had a full-time job, and then just hung up.  Huh?? Who does that??? Sounds like a bottom feeder. Legitimate creditors don't call you at work to ask you if you have a job.  They use databases like LexisNexis, etc.  Don't answer when they call.

I hate to tell you this dumbass, but if it is past the Statute of Limitations they can not legally sue you or take you to court. It is then considered a "time barred debt" and they most they can do is call and harass people. A family member went through this crap with a collection company and they were also advised by an Attorney and the States Attorney Generals office that they can not collect if taken to court because it is past the time allowed for filing a Lawsuit. People pull your credit record and check to see if there is any negative information and work to settle with the company. Sometimes they will work to reduce your debt and help you get any negative info off your credit record. No I am not a "bottom feeder" debt collector, just someone who had a family member go through this and saw how to legally resolve the issue.

Maximo....I hate to correct you, but I have never received anything from a collection agency, have never had more than one credit card and it is paid in full every month.  Since you seem to work for this agency you best get your facts straight.  Oh yeah, we have had the same phone number for over 25 years, so why do they call everyday and never leave a message?????

don't pay it at all, especially an old one. don't ever send money to a collector, it just starts your debt clock over. tell them to stop calling you. they are paid to bother you. ignore them.

Mike you must have nothing better to do than reply to people who you have no clue about.  I'm going out on a limb and saying you are a collector.  I used to be one, but wasn't as assinine as you are sounding.  Things happen in life that people can't control and yes, they fall behind but most are willing to do what they can, just the companies aren't willing to work with them.

Obviously Mike has nothing better to do than reply and slam people he has no idea who they are or what their situation is.  I keep getting calls from this number as well, no message left but numerous calls daily. They are only allowed one call per day by law, but keep calling regardless.  I have no idea who they are, can't get through to anyone when I call back and have not received any correspondence from them.  There's nothing on my credit report from them, or any other delinquent accounts that are in collections so no idea what they want.  If this is an old debt has to be from more than four years ago!

This is a scavenger collection agency; tries to collect old debts any way they can.  Offer to record their phone calls, tell them this and all future calls are being recorded (and then do it) and they'll hang up.

I got calls from this # (Judy) and sometimes it was twice a day... she called my ex husband's family, apparently, and my former employer whom I haven't worked for in 2 years. They actually CAN call relatives, friends, neighbors, etc. as long as they don't disclose anything about you owing money, and they can not call them more than once!

I just sent in a $5 money order and that stopped the phone calls. I plan to send in $5 every month until the $17k is paid or until I'm dead, whichever comes first. I'm not going to starve my family over an old debt, especially since it was my ex husband who racked up 80% of those charges under my name!!!

Calls two or three times a day?  Try getting 13 calls from these people a day some days, starting at 8:01am and ending at 8:57 pm.  They know they can only call from 8am to 9 pm and trust me they use every minute up to the end.  They called me at work even after I asked them not to, telling them that I cannot receive personal calls at work. This is a debt that I legally owe but they are not willing to work with me on a payment plan so I will probably get sued.  But when the economy goes to hell and your work hours are cut back and you can barely survive what can you do?? The one calling me, Laney, is rude and hateful and won't work with you.  I have complained about her to the company but I am sure that it does not good.  These companies like their collections people to behave that way, they think it gets the job done. Most collection agents are spawns of satan and behave like it but if the truth was really known they are dodging calls from creditors themselves.  I bet they don't even pay their own bills.  God will surely punish them in their next life for their behavior in this one.

whoever these people are have no clue who they are calling. are they randomly picking numbers? they do not speak clearly on the phone and when I told them to remove my number because they were calling the wrong person they were very rude about it. Like it was my fault. Hire someone who is professional enough to do this job. I wouldn't pay an old debt if I had an a**hole like this calling all the time.

I always find it funny, how over 50% of "debtors" screen their own calls.  Perhaps there should be stronger legislation in-favor of banks and lendors to recover the monies from the people who have defaulted on their loans.

Regardless of the state of the economy, the reasons for falling behind, are the same reasons they have always been, yet debtors feel like they are the exception to the rule.

There are very few people who actually default on their debts and while it is certainly a minority, they feel they should have the rights.  Then, they curse the very banks that had to get bailed out. Alot of the mismanagement of banks finances were a direct result of consumer defaults, so perhaps, rather than scold the banks, look in the mirror and ask yourselves what you did to help change this revolving cycle of debt.  Ultimately, people rely on Credit as a means to provide things you want.  You people would be surprised at what you actually "Need" vs. "Want."  Live within your means, and STFU.  And if you don't, own up to your mistakes and take responsibility to act.

With few exceptions, you put yourselves in this position, deal with it.

I totally agree with your statements, and have noticed that most of the complaints are from people that are screening their calls from debt collectors, but in all fairness, I actually answer the calls from these people, and they always have a recording asking for an unknown individual. Then it says if this is a wrong number, press 7, when I press seven, it tells me to hold. After a few minutes, it gives me another recording saying to enter my party's extension now. I enter 0, thinking operator, right? I immediately get disconnected. I return the call, and get a machine to pick up, then just goes dead. They've only been calling for a coupole days, but numerous times each day, with the same results. That is why I am here, trying to find an address, or another number to call them to have them stop harassing me. I work nights, and calls all day long is interfering with my sleep, and have family almost 2000 miles away, and cannot afford to turn off the phone in case of emergency.

Actually it is beneficial if you record the calls.  Personally, it doesn't affect the conversation at all in any way shape or form.

The best part of this entire topic is the fact that the obvious resolution is very simple.

Live within your means and pay your bills.  You are in total control of this situation and believe it or not, you can prevent collection calls, by simply paying your legal obligations.

enjoy!

I had great credit but went bad in two weeks from the get go. I paid everyone that didn't call and now the rest won't get a dime since they "used" to call- these guys just started. Good luck! This has happened twice before and I waited for the 7 years statue of limitations to pass twice! I don't even hear the phone ring from these people on cell or home. Have a great Holiday loser collectors! Can't get a job besides dialing a phone or is that done for you morons too! HaHaHa b**tfU^*+rs!

Are you some kind of tool for debt collector industry?  Loser.  Debt collectors are losers.  It is as simple as that. If they were losers they would have real jobs and they would not be debt collectors.  No one becomes a debt collector unless they have no other choices in life.  They really are the lowest form of human life, if you can call them that.

I personally just find an internet based telephone management service and I block their phone numbers.  I don't have time for losers like them and I usually tell tools like you the truth.  If you don't like it, screw you.

That is not true.  I received a couple of calls from this number on my cell phone, which no one has the number other that family.  Then when I did not answer they called my place of employment.  When told that personal calls can not be accepted they called my mother which lives in a completely different city within 15 minutes my mother was calling to find out what was going on, because the person who called revealed personal information about what they assume is a debt that I owe.  I have never heard of this company before until the phone calls this week.  I am still waiting for something to come in the mail, because it is kind of hard to say you owe a debt when you do not even know what company they purchased this from, and also I believe that it maybe from an old bankruptcy filing which has happened before.

I have to say, that my credit is already shot so I'm not worried about my damn credit score. And frankly i'm tired of people making such a big deal about "credit scores" who cares? This collection agency calls me non stop. (they have more than one number apparently) and I have ALL of them blocked. Keep calling boys, I dont care. Generally if you owe less than $500 (wich is what I owe) they wont take you to court for obvious reasons (it would cost them more than the debt is owed.) Its thier gimmick to say "were going to sue you, see you in court!" dont buy it. there just trying to scare you, Also if your phone has a blocking feature on it by all means use it!
