Loser Como keeps calling my house, during the day, leaving message but never says for who. Called the number back, and told them they keep calling my house, but never leave name of who they are looking for. SO, loser 'John Waters', asks my name. Told him, YOU are calling my house, who you looking for?  Loser puts me on hold. I wait awhile, hang up and call back. We repeat the same conversation, and he said, 'you won't tell me your name, and hangs up on me. I, nor my husband owe ANY debt!!!  Will be sending a nastygram to this loser outfit, letter to Fair Debt, letter to Better Business, and anyone else I can think of. Oh, and to the State's Attorney General Office, in my state, and in MN. Pissed me off! If I didn't have things to do this afternoon, I would spend the rest of the day calling them back.

Well that's funny. The entire statement is false is a false statement.  This company is trying to collect on an old debt from over 10 years ago that MY Brother in law owes.  He lived with us for a grand total of three months and this "law firm" did a websearch and his name is associated with my address and phone number.  BLOCK the idiots.

I think it's hilarious that all the comments on here saying "pay your bill, they will get you" are really just como law office employees. :-)

But yall is whole different story:

I stumbled upon this site. I typically don't post anything on forums but after reading some of posts I now know why our country is in the condition it is.

Nobody wants to take responsibility for their actions. Pretty sad.

Here's a clue, if you owe money to someone call them and work something.

These people are parasites. I have a dispute with a former landlord of my son (I'm a co signer on the lease). I also have a law degree. The "attorney" Ryan Anderson is too chicken to talk to me and would rather harass  my son who is tied up in school and has little knowledge of his rights. They're a perfect match for the slimy landlord (Park III if anyone is interested - stay away from their awful apartments!). If they want to go to court and fight this in the open, that's fine. But somehow I don't think that is going to be their style.

I had some scruffy guy come to my door last night too and hand me a summons. He didn't have me sign anything or state who he was.

I was thinking it was fishy because a sheriff or someone of the court usually will deliver something of that nature. The letter is marked Mar 5th but I didn't get it until last night at 9:15 on the 13th.

I am wondering how to proceed with this. I really can't afford a lawyer nor do I want to ignore this if it is legit. Any idea?

I had a man come to my door last night and serve me papers from Como Law Firm. He was not in a uniform (sheriffs uniform)_and had me sign nothing stating I received the papers. The papers are saying I am being sued for a medical bill and I have 20 days to respond. It seems fishy to me so I want to cover my bases before I call them back.

Is this normal to be served by an individual and not a police officer or someone of the court?

It is important for anyone dealing with this "lawfirm" or any debt collector to know
YOU HAVE RIGHTS
They can not call your work or harass you there are laws against that look it up.

look at their website. they admit on their site that they only deal in collections. and they have NO clients beyond the ones that need a "debt" collected.
they just sent my husband a "summons". that is supposed to be answered in 20 days after the date on it. well, lady.
it was sent at least 16 days to our house here AFTER the date.
they legally have to have it in your hands 24 hours afterwards. as well as it has to have a seal on it. it does NOT.
it has to be served by the sheriff or at least a deputy. it was not. it was served by some scruffy bearded guy who looked like he needed a serious bath.
they demanded information on the summons about bank accounts and other things they have no legal right to have.
my husband had finished paying off months before that the debt that CLF is claiming is still unpaid.

Talked with Tom at Como...incredibly rude.,,he said I owed a medical debt of 130.00, initially he would not tell me who it was I owed..after telling me what Dr. I owed I wanted to pay but wanted a receipt..He said they don't have accounting software so he couldn't give a receipt...so I asked if he would hand write a receipt and fax it to me...He became very belligerent, stating he would  get out his crayons and write me one...he said he wouldn't send me one, so my husband offered to come to there place of business to pay and get a receipt...his response was" tell the hard a** we don't accept walk ins and hung up....I then called the collection agency that hired him to find out they had pulled this account from them several months ago...hmmmm wonder why Como Law didn't want to give a receipt...Can we say CROOKS!

Got a new cell phone about a month ago, and the person before me must have owed some money to these people. I called them back just now, told them that I wasn't the person, (a guy, and I'm a girl!) and they took my number off their list. Very professional. Thank you!

I received a phone call from someone named Scott representing some law firm (don't remember which exactly) in St Paul.  He said they represented a collection agency (since when collection agency is represented by a law firm??) and that I owed $600+ to some company.  Since I first time heard about such company and the debt I asked why teh company did not contact me first.  He asked whether 4 last digits of my SSN were such and such and the numbers were very close to mine but not quite, so I said "Absolutely not".  He said they must have dialed my cell phone number by mistake.  The name of the person he was looking for was different from mine but once again, only by one letter.   Scott was polite though and apologized.  Hopefully no more calls.
The whole deal is very suspicious and sounds like phishing.

You say "As for social problems like Al Zack, I'd set up calls to him every day just to get his his goat (and I don't mean his wife, because obviously he hasn't had a steady woman his entire life). And then there's disgruntled person..he calls you after 8am because the same federal government that sends you your welfare checks says he can. Wake up before noon and you might be able to find a job and become a productive citizen in this country along with paying your bills. Put down the bong first." - You do realize that this kind of attitude is exactly what everyone here is talking about?

I am well known for being easy to get along with and being level headed. I pay my bills. I'm honest. I have a good job. Despite all this, I have also had to deal with these animals on an issue I did not instigate. The issue was related to a fraud case. I have never been so insulted in all my life. After repeated attempts at being pleasant with them, all I got was aggression, and attempts at twisting my conversations into something entirely convoluted.

Perhaps a few of you have seen the soft fuzzy belly of the beast, but believe me when I tell you that this monster has a set of teeth and claws poised to dig in at any moment, and they don't care about the facts whatsoever!

"...Using obscene or profane language, or HARASSING consumers with repeated phone calls...."
