First they called and said they need to update credit card info then they said there is one time payment and I cannot cancel as they have preordered so I didn't want any issues I gave the credit card  now they are charging every month $58.90 and when I stopped the card they are calling and threatening to send for recovery and they are saying they have recording they are calling from different numbers and have sent me a bill of $1500 and when my husband called they said if he pays $750 they will close the account. This is a scam all they want is money and they are threatening they said one time payment and recorded something different. They are using different numbers to call.

Called their 800 number and they picked up right away. I was told that they would call us back in a couple days.  I mentioned that this is ridiculous and asked for a manager.  To the receptionist's credit she transferred us to the manager immediately.  We told the manager the problems and that we wanted to have this transaction cancelled.  The manager (Kim) was very nice and said it would be cancelled and that a notice would go out immediately.  The manager also was very willing to listen to our complaint and said that it would be addressed.   Feeling better now. :)

I was called yesterday evening and was drugged on prescription headache medicine.  I was informed that I already had agreed to a subscription and that they were just calling to save me money (very pushy).  They warned that - If I did not go with this better deal they would charge me the full amount.  I asked questions and they resorted to playing dumb and that is what the computer says.   I asked what magazines I requested - and they were not able to provide this.  Worried that I was in trouble if I did not provide them with my credit card information I agreed (and like I said half-drugged).  I don't want this deal - and don't remember a prior phone call and ever agreeing to this.   I feel lied to and taken advantage of - and want to cancel this transaction - because frankly we don't have he money.  This company should be ashamed of itself.

I don't know how you can lie to people but whatever makes you happy, I was directly lied by one of your representatives that you were my original magazine company I had dealt with and he (i cannot remember the name) promised I would not be charged twice the $49.95 I willingly pay and the $24.99 the company wanted to reduce me down to. Long story short, there were two charges for those amounts and I reported those charges to my bank and I will not give my information to you when you call back

The statute of limitations probably hasnt run out yet for the crimes this person committed while "working" there, so can you blame them?

By the way, sounds like you're still "working" there, no?

Shena, you need to stop, and tell the truth about your company. Trying to MAKE people renew a subscription they never even wanted in the first place?!?!?!  And not even really "renew" since they never had a subscription with Reader's Club in the first place. These companies get a calling list with partial information on it. They call pretending to be the original company that has your subscription and offer you a "payment credit" to your account. Be aware and DO NOT give out your credit card info. They pretend to already have it, want to re-enter it into their system to discount your current subscription, but then renew you for a whole new one. They record the last part of your conversation saying what you will pay them and for how many payments starting that day. Pay attention to what these people are saying to you! If you received this so called "discount" or "credit to your account" call the 1-866-374-7895 within 3 days or they will try to lock you into a verbal contract. Trust me, I used to work there and know how these people scam you out of money... even people on disability get scammed into this. It's sooo sick!

Just received a call from a Caller Id stating it was Reader's Club. I answered, a female voice asked if this was Sam, I replied yes and she hung up. A while back I bought something online, and somehow got all kinds of charges for magazines I didn't order, some kind of travel plan and several things. Bunch of charges to my Debit card. Thankfully Chase Bank immediately reversed the charges, shut that card down and issued me a new one. So if that happens to you, just contact your bank and let them know and they will help you if the charges were not authorized by you.

I've begun getting calls from 651-788-9375 on my cell phone. There is never anyone on the line.
Then I also began getting them from 800-555-1212 and the caller is from "Readers Services". I figured it was a scam once they started talking about the 5 mazines I'm getting, but they couldn't tell me what magazines they were. They were "kept confidential for security purposes". They said I was half way through the subscription period and that some would expire soon. I think they wanted me to "renew" but I laughed and told them it was a scam and just hassled them til they humg up. I did not connect 651-788-9375 and 800-555-1212 and "Readers Services" until I googled 615-788-9375 and found this blog.

Someone should shut them down.

This company has been giving me calls for the better part of 3 months at least every other day, always asking about magazine subscriptions (I did have some, but I cancelled them and discontinued all the services/payments). They simply will not give up and it's getting to the point of definite harassment.

I get calls all the time from this and other numbers about magazine subscriptions. Last year I got fast talked into ordering a bunch of magazines. I was able to cancel the next day (after 3 hours on the phone and catching them in their lies). A few months back I began getting calls about my subscriptions to which I replied that I had cancelled and didn't want to get any magazines. I am supposed to be on a do not call list from the original company, but these guys must be a different organization. One time a lady called just to make sure I wasn't going to order any more magazines from somebody else, lol.  I told her forcefully that I had no plans to ever get mixed up in scams again and she hung up on me. Now they just call and hang up, lol. Irritating.

I have been getting calls from this number for weeks now.  They call 1-2 times a day.  When I call the number back I get the message "The mailbox belonging to Readers Club is full, please hang up."  These people are totally harrassing.  After reading the posts, I now know what they are after and I will not give them information.

this isn't the only number that they use.  others are 800-555-1212, 763-225-8288, 818-533-8990.  it would be a good idea to report these numbers, as well.

Someone from this number just called me, again, and asked for "Debbie." (Not my name.) I said it was the wrong number and then started to let the person know that my number is on the national DNC list but he hung up on me. When I tried to call back, it said the mailbox was full. It said it was Readers Club.
