Hahahahahahahah!  Someone said that some health insurance companies care about their members and want to help them.  That is the funniest thing I have ever heard.  Insurance companies only care about getting richer.  I have been harassed by Healthways too and instead of contracting with a company to harass me it would be much better for me if they covered my wellness visit 100% like they use to.  Now they use health care reform as an excuse to not cover certain wellness tests that they covered last year such as vitamin D test, urinalisis test, and creatin tests.  I got a surprise bill for $60.00 because blue cross blue shield decided these tests do not help me stay well. Yeah, their concern for my health is underwhelming!

I work for an insurance company. this phone number is to a company called Healthways They are not fake. Basicly, your insurance company has hired them to help you. If you have certain conditions or have been treated for certain things, they have information to help you, but it is completely voluntary. You should have recieved something in the mail from your insurance company that explains this in further detail and states if you do not want to take part then they give you a number to call and let them know. Your insurance company is not directly tired in to them, as they are not able to stop them from calling, that is something you need to ask them to do. "Ripping them a new one" is not Nessicary as they are only trying to help you. If you don't want their help, a simple "no thank you" will suffice.

These guys are protecting the interests of the INSURANCE COMPANY. Any benefit to individual policyholders is unintentional and coincidental. Your insurance company's financial interests are the only interests being served by this so-called "service". Your information will be collected, shared with your current insurance company, as well as other insurance companies to which you may apply for coverage in the future.

DISCLOSE NOTHING -- unless, of course, your health is less important to you then your insurance company's financial well-being.

Myemployer hired them to keep track of their employees health. If I don't agree to work with healthways, my employer will raise my insurance rates. They take biometrical measurements, and blood to evaluate my overall health. This was suppose to be kept confidential from my employer. The only thing my employer should know is that I am cooperating with the program. At one point however, I found out that they released all of my medical information to my employer, and now my employer has raised my insurance. I never consented to this, and am considering legal action.

I have started receiving calls from this number periodically and they leave incomplete voice mail messages.  I visited their website and completed their "contact us" form stating I did not want further calls.  I went on to say that I would file a complaint with the FCC and the Better Business Bureau if the calls continued.  And I added that we were on the national do not call list and their sells calls were in violation of that.  I hate companies like this, if they were in fact legit they wouldn't use dialers to make these calls, nor would it be so difficult to get them to stop calling.  Sounds to me that our insurance companies sold our information and it is being used for sells purposes.

Like another person here, I work for a health insurance company (not blue cross either) and these calls are comming from American Healthways. Typically, your insurance company contracts with this outside company to assist and provide information on specific conditions that can end up causing us the members a lot of money in the end. I used to have them call me all the time when I got an inhailer from my doctor. They sent me a package about asthma and then called out to me. Now they are calling due to my cronic back pain. JUST AS AN FYI. I have found that is their computer automatically dials you before you get the package in the mail from them(typically unusual) they won't talk to you or tell you to wait untill the package comes. I don't know why, but seems that it has something to do with a term called hipaa. Anyways, they are not a BAD company, they just have a lowend automatic dialer that sometimes jumps the gun. Its worth having a 5 min conversation with them to get them from stop calling. Also!! The information you give them is 100% private, it is illegal for them to provide your information to anyone else without your WRITTEN permission, even your employer. The only party they can share info with is your health insurance company, and it's not for the purpose of denying future coverage either. Whether you believe it or not, some health insurance companies care about their members and want to help them save some money in copays and er visits by using a program like this. Do what you wish, the company is just there to help

I've spoken with them, they "knew" I have had back troubles and sent some brochures about back exercises. They call way too many times. They said they would call about every month..it's more like once a day..  a "lil" pushy..
I pay money for my insurance.. I'll talk with my DR.. not some nurse on the phone, who hasn't seen my MRI.. they weren't much help with my bad back..

I called it back and they knew who I was before I even identified myself which was creepy - they then were aksing me persnoal questions and before I amswered any of them I asked for them to please identify themselves!  She said it was for a "health benefit" through my health insurance company.  Then she put me on hold to find the person who was trying to reach me, and while I was waiting THEY hung up on ME!  I wish there was a way to remove my number from them...weird. (BTW, I do have type 1 diabetes and like the other post perhps they are trying to help, but they do not make themselves approachable when they dont identify themselves and are evasive on the phone and immediately ask personal questions - people are smart enough by now to know that doesnt fly)

I just use call intercept and block their calls. No problem.

I certainly wouldn't recommend discussing "interesting side effects" with these folks either real or imagined. They work both with companies (i.e. your employer) and health insurance companies and you could find any information that you give them being used at a later time as reason to deny health insurance coverage or in the case of your employer they can use the information you provide to decide that your potential cost as an employee outweighs your benefit.

Don't say you weren't warned.

I'll give them this, they are persistent!  Every single day for the last 2 months they have called.  The time of day varies from 9am - 9pm and the call is disengaged by the answering machine but points to their automatic dialer!  

After two months they deserve something.  When they call tomorrow I'm going to develop some interesting side effects.

Dear Doug... We are not misinformed nor idiots.  I do not have any medical affliction nor am I covered by any of the Health Care providers this company represents.  I have called and asked to be removed from their list a number of times.  First they told me they could not find me in their system even when searching by phone number.  Now how can that be when they called me on that number?  The second time they said they found me and told me I would be removed.  This did not happen and the phone calls still continue.  They are back to their claim that they can not find me in their system.

Dear Harrassed....You're either misinformed or you're an idiot.  I dont think these people can help you with either of those afflictions.  My problem is Type-2 diabetes and I agreed to the service like everyone else did.  I get upset because they send me letters telling me they cannot talk to me.  Yet, when I pick up the phone, they hang up.  Oh well, it doesn't cost me and it has been of some benefit in the past.

I've received things in the mail from Healthways, it's a "Disease Management" (DM) company that has nurses give you advice about chronic conditions, like diabetes, asthma, etc.
I guess the idea is that, if you follow their advice, it's cheaper than a lot of Dr. visits or hospital bills.
Hence the "registered nurse" line - they want you to know you're talking to someone who knows something about medical matters.
Not sure I need it, but I have great (and expensive) doctors for my conditions, and for those without easy access (due to dollars or distance) to the best specialists, I think a service like this makes sense.

It's true that Healthways is a legitimate company and YOU may have agreed to their calls.  My story is that I am a recent Type-2 diabetic and they call me to see how I'm doing and to give me suggestions.  The problem is that they block their name and I never answer the phone.  Bottom line is:  be nice to these folks trying to help you.  If you want off their list, call them and let them know.  These really are the good guys.

I went to their website and filled out the web survey to ask them to stop calling and to tell them I have reported/complained about them to the FTC.  We'll see...

I too have had this same problem they actually called me 5 times in a row today after I picked up and hung up after being harrassed by these Health? People for the past month they call everyday even on weekends and at night, but always when I seem to be at work or busy so I can't just answer and rip them a new one! I've contacted Blue Cross and they have no records of calls being made. This is so annoying I'm debating changing my phone number.

I see you post this friendly message about Healthways on all the complaint sites about this number (651-855-3900).  The poor angels just want to help us, right?  Let me guess you work for Healthways?  If they want to help, they can stop annoying people for starters.

Thanks for the informational posting.  They have called several times during the oddest times on my personal cell phone, and no messages ever left either even to identify themselves. Not recognizing the phone number, i just let it ring and just figure if it's important perhaps they'd leave a voice mail.  If it wasn't for this website, I still wouldn't know who's trying to call.

This number is connected to Healthways - http://www.healthways.com/ - a company contracting with a couple of HealthPlans, such as Blue Cros/Blue Shield, Principal etc.

If you call them during the day, someone actually picks up the phone and will help removing the number.  They claim they had "problems" with their dialer systems ... BS

They call until you speak to them. It's your health insurance doing phone check up on you. I guess if you ask them to stop this service they will stop calling. I will do it next time they call. It's not a major annoyance but I prefer to call myself.
