Debt Collector
THESE ARE VERY NASTY PEOPLE WHO PAY PENNIES FOR VERY OLD BAD DEBTS AND THEN TRIED TO COLLECT.  MY SON SIGNED UP FOR A HSBC CREDIT CARD WHEN HE WAS 18 YO.  THERE WAS A $59.95 FEE TO OPEN THE ACCOUNT, BUT IT WAS TO BE CHARGED AFTER 30 DAY USE.  WE PAID THE BILL IN FULL AND CLOSED THE ACCOUNT WITHIN THE 30 DAYS, BUT THEY TRIED TO COLLECT THE $59.95.  THAT WAS ALMOST 5 YEARS AGO AND THE AMOUNT IS AT $300.00.  ACCORDING TO THE CREDIT REPORT IT WAS WROTE OFF, BUT THESE NASTY INDIVIDUALS WILL KEEP CALLING UNTIL YOU GIVE IN! JUST HANG UP AND MAKE A REPORT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Debt Collector
I am the HR Manager for a company and I received a call from these sheisters informing me that one of our employees was being served with legal papers this Friday, and that I needed to call the employee to let them know they had until Friday to let them know if she preferred to have the papers served at her home instead.  In addition, another received a call one day prior to that, and a Brandon Hansford left the manager a message asking for information about the employee's "work processes and procedures."  The manager shared this information with me.  I telephoned this number - they used the name "Legal Support Services - and I told the guy off.  This is an illegal practice.  Number one, if they were a legal firm, they would know that any employee information is confidential (including schedules).  Number two is that in all of my over 20 years working in HR, I've never been contacted by anyone requesting private personnel information or calling me as "a courtesy" - the guy actually said that - to inform me that WE needed to contact the employee with information that they were being served.  I have taken the liberty to let the employee know that these sleazeballs are breaking the law.  In this state at least, she will get action and she wll also be going to the feds and make a complaint.  I will provide a written statement outlining what they did.  And don't these jokers realize there are phone records?  The poster above who said these people helped her restore her credit is obviously an employee or owner of this disreputable company.  Don't call them back.  Call consumer protection agencies or an attorney.  I am going to make a complaint on behalf of my company, which by the way is a faith non-profit with an impeccable reputation, so start to squirm a bit "Brandon" or whatever your real name is.

A man by the name of Jason (last name is Bowan, I believe) called the office I work at (a law firm), stating he needed to speak with an employee about a personal matter.  I explained to him that, unless it was an emergency, employees do not accept personal calls.  He then rudely insisted that I was said employee and repeated over and over again, "Give me the last four digits of your social security number."  As soon as I heard him say that, I knew that his call was not an emergency.  Moreover, the mere inquiry of a social security number put no doubt in my mind that he was calling either to collect a debt or was running a scam to fish for personal information.   I again told him that employees do not accept personal calls.  Apparently, he was convince that I was the person he was trying to reach, and HE told ME the last four digits of the employee's social security number!  Not only is this completely unethical, but thankfully, he was calling a law firm.  His rude, insistent probing and his blurting of an employees social security information is prohibited by law pursuant to The Federal Trade Commission's Fair Debt and Collections Act.   By the way, when a debt collector is specifically told NOT TO CALL THE WORKPLACE, there are no loopholes around it.  Their calls to the workplace must cease effective immediately!   Felt the need to post this because, quite frankly, not only do I think his actions are reprehendable, but I just don't like him.
