They call from one number and then either a few months or the next year, they call from another number. Sick and tired of hearing from all these charities that want money. And they don't want to hear that you are disabled and need help yourself. To have a phone anymore is just an absolute joke.

Well, we blocked the Breast Cancer America number... for 2 days, we had peace.  I mean, these other BC folks only called us 12 times in less than 2 days.  Now this #.  We won't waste time & will block this one as well, but they are like the Hydra - cut off a head & 3 more take its place.  Sadly, our phone will only block 10 calls.

I've gotten several calls in this past year from Breast Cancer organization. Some of their calls begin with 855. I received one last night that started with the 660 and I have HAD IT with them! I only answered because the first three numbers were similar to a friend's number. Some woman asked for my husband by his first name. When I said he wasn't home could I take a message she began talking rapidly saying she was from Breast Cancer and these women needed assistance because now they had such financial difficulty and if she sent me an envelope could I put "a little something" in it. I finally had a chance to break in and tell her that I had been very sick and unable to work for months (I know my voice is very weak and I sound terrible on the phone) and that my husband and I were having financial difficulties of our own and couldn't afford to send anyone ANYTHING. I am not a rude person so I said this very nicely but she started chattering rapidly again and saying how  these people needed help and surely we could afford a few dollars.....I hung up.

First of all... the gall! In my weak voice I told her I had been very ill and instead of saying what a NORMAL person would say like "Oh I'm so sorry to hear that."  For all she knew I have cancer too! She got an irritated tone in her voice as she kept going on and on about "these poor women and their husbands and financial difficulties" it was as if she were saying "well too bad I don't care... send money anyway" After I hung up FIVE minutes later I received a call from an 855 number and from experience know that one of their numbers begins with this prefix. I know because about 8 months ago I answered that one and it was breast cancer. That time I tried to tell them I could not send anything and finally just to get rid of her I said I would send $10.... MAYBE. She wanted my bank acct  number or credit card number I said OH NO not on the phone...give me an address. I remember her asking more than once "Are you SURE you can't give me a number? You don't have a debit card?" That is just not RIGHT for them to keep asking such things after you've said NO! So when they sent the envelope I was so irritated by the attitude I didn't send anything. OH MY GOSH! I started getting numerous calls all day and evening for two months... all from them! You would have thought I promised a million dollars or something! I answered only one time and it was the same lady "reminding" me that I had "promised" some money and when could they count on it. That is how I can recognize all their different numbers. Some of the numbers are different but start with 855 now this one with the 660 and it said Missouri Call just like my friend's phone does, so now I can't answer ANY calls. That is OK because if it is family or friend I tell them to leave a message...all other calls will be unanswered. It is really annoying that you have to listen to your phone ring all day and they NEVER leave a message. SCUMBAGS! These are horrible people and they need to be stopped!

Received call from them just a few minutes ago.  When I informed them the person they were calling for died over twelve years ago, they continued to say they had the wrong name but the right number.  I've reported them to the BBB as well as filed the complaints associated with the no call list.

This is Breast Cancer.  I answered because I thought they would stop calling if I did.  What god is this "No Call" List.  This is not what I thought it was for.  Today I got, 6 calls from people wanting something.  I don't answer the phone if I don't know this number.  I just got a letter in the mail yesterday on Breast Cancer Research wanting $20.

Another stupid call, we get so many but we never answer them.  I was curious so Googled the telephone # and of course got the results from above.

I too, think the "No Call" list is a waste of paper and does nothing to protect the average citizen.  But didn't really think it would.

Guess just getting rid of the land line would work.  Wonder where in the world they get their list of calls to make, someone must have sold our number to them.

They said they were from the Breast Cancer Society. I told the lady that I already donate to them through a different means and she then got rude and nasty saying "We have no record of you donating to us. This is a different organization" I then told her what does it matter which organization I donate to as long as it's going to the same cause? She continues with a rude rant so I just hung up and found later that this is a for profit organization. Only a small portion of your donation goes to the fund.

Got a call from 1-660-530-4159. Caller ID said "Breast Cancer S." Just had finished watching the game and it gets dark early. Since I was relaxing in my bedroom watching TV I didn't feel an urgent need to turn the light on. As it was 6:15 PM on a Sunday evening who else could be calling except family or friends? WRONG! I answered the phone blindly and had to say  "Hello" twice, so even though I couldn't see the caller ID I figured it wasn't a legit call --but waited for a response just in case. The broad asked for me by my first and last name! She said she was calling from The Breast Cancer Society. I immediately told her I don't make donations over the phone. She hesitated and said, "Okay" and then hung up. I think I caught HER off guard, LOL!" Hope she'll pass the info along so they'll stop calling! Everyone should respond to these people and others with that answer to let them know we're not open to possible scams. Unfortunately, these so called "charities" are immune to the Do Not Call list just because they are supposedly "Non-Profit." (In name only! WHAT A JOKE!) I listed them below as telemarketer and not a "Non-Profit" because they keep more than 80% of the money for themselves -- not for breast cancer.

Interesting Missouri Mom. I am a patient in the Mercy Health Care System. How unscrupulous -- so much for privacy through the HIPPA Law! Someone is selling our info to scam (scum) artists. They wanted a contribution to breast cancer.  I told them I would think about it.  They said they would send me something to mail money in.  I said o.k., and they then (I knew it was coming)  asked if they could count on me for $20.  I repeated that I would think about it.  I'll bet nothing ever comes in the mail.

This company is owned by Patients First in Washington MO, and don't be fooled by their pretending to be non-profit.  This is a FULLY FOR-PROFIT tax shelter for a bunch of already rich doctors who can afford to pay off the politicians so they don't have to follow normal laws.  Patients First is a big scam -- I'll be anyone who has been called by them has been their patient, or part of the Mercy Health System, which they also own.  Doctors Without Scruples is more like it.

Just got the call with no message left.  We always screen our land line calls and never answer.  I always figured if it is someone I want to talk to they will leave a message and I will get back to them.  Hardly ever do these kinds of calls say a word!  What a bunch of jerks!!! Esp. calls to the elderly who answer every call.  I am sure that is who they are targeting.  And I agree the No Call List is a joke!

My mother has had two mastectomies in the past, and is now 91. These people called her, apparently when she wasn't even fully awake, and because of their name, they talked her into giving $10. The worst part is that they must have gotten her to give them her bank account number, as it was taken directly from the account. Now I'll have to watch that they don't try to take more, or else we'll have to change her account number - again.

Thanks for your post Physics1. I didn't answer but wanted to check it out.

Also, I don't think the  "Do Not Call List" is worth the paper it's written on, at least not in Missouri. I've been on it since inception and I'm flooded with spammers.

I got a call from The Breast Cancer Society hucksters a moment ago, a quick search of the organization turned up this:
"The Connecticut Better Business Bureau is warning state residents not to fall prey to scams taking advantage of the fact that this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Obviously, many non-profits, businesses and other organizations are raising money during the month, but the Better Business Bureau said consumers must be selective about how they donate to the cause, to ensure their money or a significant percentage of a purchase ends up in the hands of a legitimate charity.

For instance, BBB is warning donors to be wary of making contributions to The Breast Cancer Society, an Arizona-based charity that uses most of its donations to pay professional fundraisers? fees, employee salaries and other administrative costs. The charity?s BBB Wise Giving Report may be accessed at: http://www.bbb.org/charity-reviews/national/b ... n-mesa-az-16255.

The Breast Cancer Society has declined to be evaluated by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance?s Standards for Charity Accountability.  Better Business Bureau reports more than 85 cents of every dollar collected by this charity in 2010 went to pay fundraising costs.

I decided to investigate "AC Services" after one too many telemarketing calls. They've pitched several charities to me. This week, it's The Breast Cancer Society. Are these guys scammers, or what?

Technically, they're legal... barely. AC Services, the company that does the telemarketing for The Breast Cancer Society, is a commercial company contracted by various different registered nonprofits to do fundraising for them. The Breast Cancer Society is a legally registered nonprofit. However, AC Services takes a hefty chunk of donations for operating expenses, on top of which, most of the charities it fundraises for pay their administrators big salaries. Result? Only a few pennies from every dollar of your donation will go to the people these charities claim to support.

Below are links to the reports and government-collected statistics which led me to these conclusions.

Even though my mother is on the Do Not Call list, these people call asking for money.  At first they asked for $20.   She has Altzheimer's and they nearly talked her into sending a huge check. Lucky for her, I was visiting at the time and intercepted the call. I insited they remove her name from their call list. We'll see how long it lasts.

I also filed a complaint for this number to the Missouri Do Not Call list.
