Same as above, it was a woman stating to call her back in light of the rate increases in my Visa and Mastercard. What made this call sound weird was that it was from my own area code and second, she left a totally different number than what came up on the caller ID. I looked here and it supported my suspicions.

Caller ID shows "California".  Woman asks to speak with me.  She said she is calling from credit card merchant services (pretending to be the one we use) and does not know whether I saw that April 1 notice that rates are going up, and she wants to make sure we are not being overcharged.  She says it will take about 10 minutes to review.  I just need to fax her a copy of our account statement, or she could have Mr. Cox come to our office and conduct the review in person.  I told her I am not stupid and will not give her our information, and hung up.   She immediately called back.  I immediately hung up.

received call from the number this morning. Answered with my name. The person asked if Greg was available. I replied, that I had just said my name so yes I am available. He hung up. Calling the number back leads to a one ring automated pickup of silence, then after a minute and a half it rings once again then goes silent again.

Same thing as others report. I receive a phone call, answer and there is background noise for about 2 or 3 seconds, then they hang up

Says something about a over due merchant account in 2011, I said I know nothing about it, he hangs up.

Calls and hangs up.  Heard some background noise so I know someone was there.  My answering machine has caller ID and stated "California" as the name.  I'm in Newhall which is part of the 661 area code.
