i gotta call from this number 661-524-6417, a lady w/an accent, stating that i should call her back for it is a legal matter, that if i do not call back there is chance i go to jail. i knew that this is a scam.
Same lady and also a man both with an accent calls me @work probably twice a wk, sometimes everyday. at first i was embarrassed, tho my coworkers now know this is a scam.

i have spoke w/my lawyer, but nothing he can do. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I get calls like this too. Just got one this morning.
One time when I answered I pressed buttons on the phone and somehow got through to a service rep. I told her to stop calling me and that I didn't own a credit card. She hung up on me, and the calls stopped for a month. First one I got in a while was today.

Yep, I just got a call, no message. I have received similar calls from other  weird numbers, but I never answers to unknown numbers as a cardinal rule.

Apparently they've waited a few days and they're at it again.

This number called me and when I attempted to return their call I received a message stating that the subscribers mailbox is full.

Just talked to them, it's a credit deal...  Something about rolling all my debt together.  (how could I go wrong?!?!)  :-)    I'm on the do not call list, but apparently that doesn't make much difference anymore.  I just asked that they put me on their do not call list and the gentleman on the other line was very polite.

I called the number back...it was busy...weird.

Got a call from this number 9/02/10 at 3:30pm. Didn't answer b/c I don't know anyone with that area code. They didn't leave a message. Been getting a slew of nonlegit calls on my AT&T cell lately, will get  a bunch at a time then none for a while. Weird and annoying.

I received a call from this number as well... As a policy, if I don't recognize a number, I don't pick up.
If it was really important, the caller would have left a message. If I get repeat offenders, I report them to to my carrier and let them deal with it- or block the number.

another call just now

that's what they called me about... trying to get a lower credit card rate. when i told him to take my number off their list, the guy said no and hung up. What got me is: 1, you don't act like that if you work for a reputable company, and 2, when he hung up, it wasn't a clean disconnect like with a cell phone or a business phone network. I could hear the phone rattling until it hung up properly. I think the interest rate thing is a ploy to get to some more valuable information.

Grace, do NOT return calls to this number and do not answer calls from this number. If you have the ability to selectively block callers (which seems to be the next best thing to impossible with a cell phone), this is what I recommend you do. This person is, I think, engaging in illegal activity by making unsolicited calls to cell phones ~ any expense to you that is caused by this caller is a form of petty theft. Please report as an Annoyance caller to your telephone service provider.

This twit has called my cell phone more than once. The other day, I dismissed this bit of detritus and the alleged male from Bakersfield, CA tried calling right back. I do believe a recorded message will play if one answers. A Google search identified this number as a land line in Bakersfield.. anyone living nearby might want to stop by and say 'Hello' in person. : )
