Got a call from the #, tried to answer and it hung up right away (this has been happening for me with various scam #s recently, hooray!) and when I called the # it said my call could not be completed as dialed. Nice to be able to verify it is a scam!!!

I received a call from 661-600-0632, Her accent so strong; I had difficulty understanding which company she was calling from. I replayed recorded message about 5 times, something about they didn't receive some kind of check, (check? who uses checks anymore?) She requested for me to send check by 8pm tomorrow ONLY or my order would be canceled. She wanted me to call them back at 1-877-280-2279.
First off, I hadn't ordered anything. Besides, I only use a PayPal Account if I order anything online and I rarely order things from the internet. Scammers are rampid these days and have become very good. It's difficult to determine alot of the times whether or not you are being scammed. Plus, I received an e-mail from some friends warning about calling particular numbers back, due to costs being incurred by calling them. They gave examples of the type of messages you would receive in some form of urgency to get you to call back. This particular phone call message fit the discription. So I didn't, instead posting here in hopes of helping others to avoid being scammed.
Most of the things I need have brick and mortar facilities and I go personally to review what I am interested in. I'm a kick the tire, turn the knobs, and flip the pages, type of shopper. ((laughing)) Things just aren't made as well as they use to be. I know from experience, not to count on anything you don't have proof of purchase in hand and I can't use all of my senses God gave me.

Bought an HP Laptop last fall with Vista on it. Windows 7 upgrade free. Used debit card number to order it for $12.00 shipping. Later got email saying debit card not allowed, only credit card and that the order was canceled. Never followed up, just kept Vista.
What's weird is the offer for Windows 7 for HP Vista users expired around Feb 15th, 2010. Here it is March 24, 2010 and I get a call from this number. She said her name was Lorene and that she would handle my order for Windows 7 if I gave her my debit card number. Didden do it. Sounded like a phishing scam.
