Cell phone never even rang - then later I saw a missed call from that number, no message left.  I did not call back, I'm in Canada and no free long distance to US.  Thought it was weird.

This # shows up when my friend calls me using Skype.
However, anyone can use Skype and any number can be spoofed.

Hi,I got a call from that # last night,It originated from Bakersfield calif.About my house that I have up for sale,(for Christ sake I live on cape Breton island in nova scotia) She asked about the rooms,the outside yards,sq.footage then said she would talk it over with her husband and get back to me,It came through as Marion.Lamey.co.Does that sound familier!

Police in LA use this number to harass adult workers. Another waste of tax payer funds..

Over the last 2-1/2 years we have received 300 vulgar obscene crank calls showing caller as Unknown, Name Unknown number.  The police tried to trace the calls but had no luck.Today we received one of these obscene calls from T. Swinson, at 661-748-0241, not the first time from T, Swinson.     When checking on the internet the city was shown as Bakersfield, Ca and it showed a landline from Neutral Tandem.    We live in Canada.  What is going on????

Caller claims to be Alex Kitnich with Transfer Goods Globally, offering work to mail packages to people who order things from American companies that do not ship internationally.  Started with email and I made the mistake of looking into it thank goodness I didn't actually do any work as apparently he ships packages and then never pays people.  Has a website in which you receive your tickets telling you were to ship the packages, has a contract that you sign.  It is a scam.  Do Not give out any information.

I got two calls from this number. East Indian Accent. A man that says he wants to buy my house, he wanted my email address so I communcate with his wide who is new to this country, for 6 months only ( I am in Canada) and her English is no so good, but she has something bad with her computer now, so she does not have access to anything like that, and when I started to question his story, how cold he be only 6 months here and have money or established credit for a house worth 400K?
He started to yelled at me and I hung up.
10 mintues later another male voice with the same accent and trying again to "buy my house" but he is not in my city, but he wants the house for his wife but he wants my email address.( He said "but" too many times)  I plainly said I do not give my email address to people I don't know. Then he said :" but I want to buy your house", I said that's what you say, I don't know that, you have not even seen it. Call me when you want to see the house, come with  a reputable bank letter that says that you can buy a house of this price, with a phone number of the person that issued that letter to confirm, show me a legal i.d. and then I might show you my house. But I will still not give you my email address with all of that, because to sell my house all I need is a buyer with money and a lawyer." He said he will call on Sunday. I know these people are the same group from that skype calling from Califormia.

If this number calls you, do not pick up. It is a scam/prank/hoax. I received a call on my cell from this number and a woman's voice answered and fabricated a story about she and I meeting at a party.

THIS IS A GENERIC SKYPE OUTGOING PHONE NUMBER.

This number is a generic number that could show up for ANY SKYPER USER placing a call to a phone number. This number will be on a huge number of peoples call display if they know anyone who uses skype to make phone calls. So when you see this number it could be an important phone call from a relative, friend, etc or it could be a sleazy call center trying to sell you a vacuum, which means you may want to answer this number if you can think of any reason someone would need to contact you from skype instead of a regular phone.

DON'T BOTHER POSTING ABOUT EACH DIFFERENT COMPANY OR STRANGER THAT CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER.


There should be a feature to disable comments for numbers like this and just have a brief explanation of the number's owner when it is known like this one is.

I received a phone call from this number asking for my daughter I said that I was her & the guy said he was calling from London & that I ordered something in the amt. of $50.00 & he asked if I wanted him to confirm my order & he said something very very nasty & disgusting.  The National do not call list is a bunch of BS.

Incorrect.  This number is calling every extension almost every single day at my business office.  He has identified himself as 3 different names and will not leave messages.  It is a SKYPE caller as the below comment mentioned but if you read the other comments this guy is questionable.  Just be careful.

Had a call from this # last night @ 9:37 regarding a purchase. Company, Dream prom.com, did not fulfill their obligation. Wanted me to give them more money for expedited delivery. The prom was Friday! He kept apologizing, but still insisted. Once I mentioned the complaints I filed with Fair Trade Commission and Attorney General's office his tone changed. Thought he was talking to my daughter. Boy, was he wrong! Will see if I get my full refund.

Works just fine thank you. Criminals don't obey laws.  I always have to wonder when people make these comments like this, three things come to mind. Is the person a scammer involved with the fraud discouraging folks,  just a illiterati ranting on the subject expecting the feds to be automatic call blockers, or just someone that has never read whats it really about and doesn't know how it actually works.

No.  It is a good service.   However it is not effective against criminals.  Especially Indian scammer extortionists.  Just because something isn't perfect, doesn't mean it's worthless.

The 'national do not call list' is a pathetic joke!

Got a call, hard to hear, called business line so it was answered.  My wife hung up on them stating we do not want any of their services.  They were pretending to be a travel service.

Guy called and said I could get a loan for 2000 if I got a greenpak card just to show I had money to pay them back his name was john Parker

I also received call from this number from Indian guy on Skype! What do they want? I've gotten many calls from them. Anyway they can access anymore of my information I'm unaware of?

A friend called from this Skype number and left a msg. I had ignored it a couple of times until he left a msg. As Skype-out number, the caller really could be anybody. No need to give it a generalized bad name or otherwise. Let the caller leave a msg was my first choice.

Caller called to say they couldn't hear me and would try again. I don't want this to continue.

I received a call  from this number at 11:30 at night central time and they spoke in Spanish. I could not understand a word they said. so I just hung up. Don't know what it was about.

Caller ID said "Palmdale Area."  They left a voicemail on my cell.  Said it was Wainright International (a company I bought a personal coaching program from in the past) with a special offer for me.  Left her name and number.  She had a strong foreign accent.  This must be a generic number used by many companies and individuals who use Skype to make calls to cell phones and landline numbers.

We have caller ID and do not answer calls if we don't recognize the number.  And IF you answer and they start harassing you on the phone, HANG UP !!  Don't let people treat you that way.   Then get a horn or whistle and if they continue to call, blow out their ears.  The Do Not Call list is generated by the government which is there for businesses to use so they don't call anyone on the list.  Unfortunately too many are not honorable like they once were which is evident by the bad attitudes of those who disturb us in our homes with their foul mouths, knowing we have no way to trace the call back to them, thanks to the phone companies who sells banks of numbers to be used at random.  

Beyond making your report with the DNC, you have to handle things at the local level and make police reports to show harassment.  Insist they take a report since it is a criminal act (many will try to talk you out of it rather than be bothered with the paperwork).  That means you have to keep a log with date, time, and what was said (or that they hung up if you have caller ID and don't answer unknown calls but you can still log the call to the list.)  You also need to contact the phone company so they can send you out paperwork that you fill out and return to them with a COPY of the log you have kept (always keep copies of everything for your files, too).    If your log meets the criteria for harassment, the phone company will turn the information over to the prosecutor's office who will in turn notify both parties to show up for a meeting to work out the problem with the harasser being told to stop making calls to you.   Used to take police reports over the phone for these kind of calls and that's how it was handled in Franklin Co, OH.    What angers me is we pay for our land lines but have no control over these calls coming in with some being so few, the law won't touch them.
