I got a call from this number saying I'm in debt to some website I apparently registered to. I didn't register for anything but after he said my ID and city, I thought he was serious. When I told him I didn't sign up, he said something about the "company" searching for whoever used my Identity, and would call the authorities and arrest him, but I'd have to pay the debt of a nickel, either through credit card ( which he asked the numbers to) which I don't have, social security number (didn't know), or billing address (no). At this point I figured something was up. He then said some friend of mine told him to prank me, but when I confronted my friend, she clearly had nothing to do with it, and was also pranked with the same idea.
Who is this guy, it's obviously some way to get money.

This is a Skype number - it could be someone you know calling from their computer (perhaps from overseas).

I have been receiving these calls for the last 10 days at my office.  Most of the time, the calls come directly to me.  However, this morning they called our main office number and asked for me, but hung up before the call was transfered.  Sometimes the Caller ID shows up with the generic Skype number, but today both calls showed up as "0.  There have been several immediate hangups, but usually the caller (with a thick Indian accent) will ask for me by name.  I tried transfering a call the other day to our IT department, but he hung up before it went through.  Today, I pretended to be transfering him to myself, then said I was currently unavailable and asked if he awnted to leave a message.  He said, "I shouldn't have called, bye" and hung up.  I wish I knew how they got my work number, why I'm being targeted, and what I can do to make it stop.  Since there is no direct number associated with the call, I don't know how we can block it. I hope Skype will get on this, maybe involve law enforcement..  I've never even used Skype before!

Got a call from. 0242 ar midnight! They left a voicemail saying I need to pick up mu ups package! I am so confused. They woke me uo for that?!??!

Hi. I am doing the same thing only im farther along. I didnt send the money so i got a call from that same number with a hello hello and hang up.  definately a russian woman. I told her to go away.  it is not a real woman it is scammers.

Caller hangs up when I answer.  I bring up my keypad and just keep hitting number after number.  I have also used a sonic dog trainer that gives a high pitch sound and can be heard through the mic on the phone.  My sister-in-law used to blow a loud whistle.  Either may work.

I've been communicating with a women by email claiming to be from Russia. Last Sunday she used this number. We were conducting a psudo love affair and I receive a call on Sunday at 0415 in the morning we were supposed to meet in Ft Lauderdale Florida and She wanted me to send her money for an airline ticket. I told her I had none. She may respond to me further Because I keep playing her along. She sent me an official looking passport card with her picture claiming its Russian. She claims to live in Kinel Samarskaya Oblast. Its a real place. She has me convinced She's real. So I don't want to divulge her name just yet.

SKYPE
When someone calls you and they use SKYPE, that is the number that shows up on your caller ID.  It could be anyone calling you, using SKYPE.

661 748-0242 is a number for identifying SKYPE.  
I was testing my cell phone for the ring and called the cell phone using SKYPE.  The above number 661 748-0242 came up as the caller ID.
So, whoever may call you using SKYPE, be it a scammer, a bill collector, the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, or yourself, the caller ID  will be the same 661 748-0242.
Try calling your cell or house phone using SKYPE, if you can, and you will see.

I got a strange call from this number and hung up on them

recieved unwanted call, caller had thick foreign accent and wanted me to give him the cell phone number he had reached .  I did not give out the number and hung up stating he had reach a wrong number.
Felt call was suspicious

Woman claiming to know me and told me that my computer was one of many effected by virus and needed to give her my social number and more

This number 661-748-0242 called my Mom offering free government money.  I smelled scam and said I was not interested.  How can we report this number?

This number called me and said someone charged 300 to my cell phone and that if it wasn't me that
they would need some info so they could deny the charges. I hung up and they
kept calling and they called both my cell phones and started insulting me and my family. Low lives is what they are.

I didn't answer the call from 661-748-0242.  It ended up being a call from my mother using her Skype account.  They really need to fix that so that you can identify who is actually calling.

Received three calls now from this number.  First two listed as "blocked"  got three "tones" and it hung up.  Totally unwanted!

I was at my sisters house and was asked to set up Skype and put my info into the contacts box then called my cell phone; no answer cause I left my cell at home duh! anyway when I got home tonight the only call was this number no name. I did the reverse look up because it P%*&#^ me off when someone doesn't give info when calling . Here I am, when I saw Skype in your post it reminded me and so you get the candy cane Merry Christmas all. We all now Know who this number is, SKYPE possibly a friend calling

Got a call at 4:35 AM. They left a voicemail. It was a woman from a shoe website that I had recently NOT placed an order with. I submitted some of my information, but never clicked the "pay" button because I decided I didn't want the shoes. I imagine it was a SKYPE call.
