Caught just in time.  Thanks for all the info.  Deposited check on Monday, been stalling.  He really started pushing for me to send the moneygram.  His check bounced today.  We're out $10 bank charge, but his UPS probably cost more than that.  He's also out his time (I'm retired, so my time isn't worth anything)  Thanks for all the info.

This guy has got to be stopped. In the past 2 months he has contact us from 3 differant phone numbers. The messages all say the same thing as you have seen in previous complaints "Hello, My name is Ed Burkhart ext..." He sent us a sketchy looking check for an item we had posted on craigslist. The bank was even leery about taking it. I am glad that we did not arrange for his "shipping agent" to come pick up the item. I think that he is using one of those free text sights on the web.

I also received a text from Ed Burkhart about a purchase on craigslist.  He used 972-605-0889.  I agreed to a transaction.  His check is sitting in my bank right now and I texted him that I put at least a 15 day hold on the check and I will not allow pick up until we speak.  He does not seem happy about this.  I sat and spoke with someone at my bank about my concern with this check and I felt it was a scam.  She said after 15 days it would be very difficult for someone to dispute the funds, and if they tried red flags would definitely go up.  So, we'll see how this plays out.

This guy or who ever he is want to buy somthing from me well he said I would have the money the next day well that has been a week ago he keep text my phone but he will not call me so I knew somthing was wrong and yes he gose by ed burkhart somthing needs to be did to this guy

Thanks for sites like this as I too just had him contact me about an item on craigslist. Who would buy a car unseen not even a picture. So that's when I decided to google his name and check it out.  He texted me from 415 2940751.

Good chance he is NOT in Dallas.  Phone numbers can be spoofed (faked).

Same story. My boyfriend and I are trying to sell Broncos tix on Craigslist. Felt kinda weird bc our price is high so we can negotiate. He didn't want to negotiate the price and immediately began asking questions about delivery. I searched him on Facebook to no avail. I google searched his name and found this site. Wow! I'm terrified! He's now using a Dallas area code....972-333-1683.

Received text message after posting item on craigslist. He wanted to send certified check fedex overnight and when the check cleared a mover agent would pick up the item. Looked his name & number up on google and found this forum. I don't understand how this scam works but glad I didn't give out any personal info.

I just got a message from this guy that said exactly the same thing. It also came from 415) 494-9315. I thought it was funny someone would jump to buy a dishwasher so fast sight unseen! Im so glad I decided to google him!

Got the same message after listing my item on Craigslist.  He said his name is Ed Burkhart.  I googled his name and number and it turns out he is a scammer. The number for him came up (415) 494-9315.  Glad I found out before I got scammed.

The same guy text me wanting to buy a product and when I tried to call it has some weird voice mail and the number was diffrent

Ed burkhart is now using 956 529 1371 contacted me last night about item on Craigslist same as the above comments I gave him no info when I asked a few questions the texts stopped

This Raymond Nye texted me after I posted something for sale on craigslist. As I always do , checked the number on google and came across this site warning me of this scammer. I immediately blocked this number.

I also recently got a text from 415-475-9733.  He jumped on the opportunity to buy my item.  Only an idiot would buy something sight unseen.  He was going to send a bank check via FedEx and arrange for pick-up of the item.  Scammers use phony bank checks that may not be identified as fraudulent for several weeks.  The recipient will get a charge-back several weeks later to their checking account.  Although he requested my name and address, I did not submit that information or respond to his text.  I am now apprehensive about using Craig's List to market my items.  Maybe he should get a legitimate job, but I doubt that he is intelligent enough to even clean toilets!

We text Ed Burkhart back and asked him to call us at: 877-382-4357 to arrange for payment transaction.
This phone number just happens to be the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hotline to report scammers.
I can't help but be curious if he actually called the scammer hotline :)  Loser!

I sent a text back saying spouse wants cash not a check and got no response ever... also when I checked the number is says its California. so I think he is some kind of deal just what I dont know!!!

Same guy ed burkhart is a phoney don't trust him! Something felt wrong and fishy about it. He texts and will avoid calls.
