First off, just because someone calls you from an attorney's office doesn't automatically make them an attorney. I never identified myself as such, nor would I ever try to impersonate one. I would lose my job. Also, that would infringe upon breaking the privacy acts strictly enforced by the FDCPA.
However, My Darlin, I'm actually up to par with all those dang ole' rules... Ya see, all that tharr stuff starts to make some good sense 'fore too long..sugar.
Now, because of the years that have passed since you so adoringly posted and re posted the same, stupid blog about yours truly, on like 10 different sites, who knows if this here response will ever be read by anyone. I just wanted to say "sorry". Guess what? People make mistakes and sometimes the phone numbers you're given to work with, aren't always accurate.
Usually, I'm told I'm somewhat sweet, polite and a respectful individual. You may have just caught  me in between being cussed out by some one's, mother's, cousin's, step-father that I probably "meant to" call and harass "on purpose".
By the way, you're an idiot, and you can take that all the way to the bank of Who-the-hell-cares and shut-the-f***-up, located right here in beautiful Georgia.  Love, Your Favorite Retired Bottom Dweller

Save that information and report them. It is against the law for them to contact you before 8am. That is harassment.

First caller was girl who talked very fast and left message to call back.  I call back and a guy answers, says he's a lawyer with some firm. Again the person is very stern, talks fast and wants me to answer questions.  Finally I tell him they called me, left message, and I want to clarify the reason for their call.  He keeps asking who I am, finally I tell him my last name and ask who they want to talk to.  He gives a name, I tell him you have the wrong person, he again asks for my phone#, I tell him and he starts going on again. Finally I tell him I have his number and if he calls me again I will report his number.  He wants to keep ranting and I finally hang up!

These people are relentless and rude.  They actually called my office.  They are attorneys and perhaps there is a class action law suit for harassment that needs to be file.d

I received a called from 678-205-1597 but i didn't call back during their regular buisness hours, but because on their voice mail they identified themselves a a debt collecting agency I went home and printed a credit report, thinking someone way have opened a deliquent account under my name. Of course I had nothing on my report out of the ordinary and my credit is fine, so it made me think it was a scam. I called again today (not from the phone number they had), just to see what they had to say and I spoke with a person. As soon as I said I thought this was a scam they told me they would consider the matter over. I didn't give them any information about myself and they didn't know who they were talking to, so if they really needed the money I'm thinking they would have tried a little harder. So I say be advised if you get a call from them again, cause they're a scam! I just want to know how they got my number!!!

I have been dealing with people like these for a few years now. People please keep a watch on your credit report for these type of people. They reage your accounts on your credit report. If you find that they have done this report it to your credit agency. Let them know that you never had an account with this company. These people are rude and try and use every tatic in the book to scare you. DON'T LET THEM. Go to Gellisepi versues Equifax and see what the law says about these people. Report them to the Attorny General in their area, and send the stop letters via registered letter. Take it from someone who knows! This will work!

NJ collection agency/law firm.  Attempting to collect on old debt that they purchased from other creditors/collection agencies.  When they offer you a pay off deal, like say 50% of what you owe, that is because they most likely paid less than 50% of what you owed for it, and they are trying to recoup their investment plus extra for their profit.

FYI - the clock starts ticking on their collection attempts as soon as they make contact with you and it retarts every time they make contact with you, so if you talk to these guys, they can keep the clock ticking on your account for some time, even if you just pick up the phone when they call and tell them to go to hell, if you don't properly infrom them that you are exercising your rights under the FDCPA and tell them to stop calling you.  You can ask them for their address and send them a formal letter, but just telling them over the phone to stop calling should be sufficient.

Under the FDCPA you can dispute it.  Make them prove that you owe the debt in question, which forces them to provide you with information from the original account.

These idiots called me looking for a guy who had my phone number four years ago. When I asked where they got their calling list, they got a bad attitude. Hmmm. What did I do? I filed a complaint against them with the State Bar of Georgia, which is pending. My attorney thinks we should sue these bottom dwellers. You may or may not want to do the same.  Here is a copy of my letter:

Re: Complaint against Riexinger & Assoc.
Gentlemen:
At 6:11 p.m. yesterday evening I received a collection call from an attorney licensed in your state.  The call was actually directed for a Mr. David Lopez, who had my phone number years ago.  I have had my phone number, through Verizon, for almost four years now. Anyway, the caller identified herself as “Rachael” and left me a message to return her call, which I did this morning.
When I called the law firm this morning, I was transferred to Rachael.  She said she would remove my number from their calling list. When I asked where she got the list from, she became rude.  At that point, I asked her why I shouldn’t file a complaint against her law firm, she replied “You do whatever you want to do.”
I thought lawyers were held to a higher standard than this.  If a lawyer from Georgia wants to harass us sun-loving hillbillies down here in Florida, shouldn’t they at least spend the extra dime to get an updated calling list?  One must wonder if every peanut picking pettifogger in the great state of Georgia has nothing better to do these days.
If I need to do anything further to prosecute these horrible misdeeds, please contact the undersigned.

Thanks for sharing.  The State Bar of Georgia is nothing but a cover up, which will try to whitewash your complaint.  Also, you need to file a complaint against a specific attorney, not just the whole firm.  These collectors are not typically attorneys, so it becomes problematic.  Here's a better idea:  Complain to the Office of Financial Regulation in Florida.  Riexinger and Associates does NOT currently show a license to operate in Florida.  If they do happen to have one, it's under another name, which might appear deceptive.  For more info, look up debtorsfriend on the web.

I usually have fun with them when they call.  Pretend you are asleep.  Let them begin talking and start "snoring" in the middle of their little speech.  Each time you "wake up" ask them again what they area calling for and fall asleep again. Make sure you snore audibly, this REALLY irritates them.  Eventually, they get the point that you aren't interested in what they are talking about and it becomes a nuisance for THEM to call you.  Sometimes I like to call and talk in such a low voice that they have to keep asking, "Can you speak up please!".  I don't.  This irritates them to no end.  If they call prretend that you are watching a game and during their  questioning start cheering as loud as you can.  Then say, "I am sorry, my boys just scored AGAIN!!!  Whart is it that you want now?"  Don't get stressed out over these nuts because that is exactly what they want.
