They called me after I sent a scathing letter to HP CEO Meg Whitman telling her that HP printers are by far the worst printers EVER! I have had the HP C310 e-All-In-One printer for less than 3 years, and all that time have had nothing but issues, and spend hours on the phone with support only to never had the issues resolved.

HP Support lies, their answers are scripted, and by no means are their printers getting any better, quite the contrary, they are getting worse!

Take my advice, google hpprinterssuck, and go to YouTube and see how many individuals are destroying their HP printers for good reason.

DO NOT PURCHASE HP PRINTERS!

Don't hang up over and over hoping to get someone in the USA.   Instead ask to be transferred to an agent here, and they supposed to do that... it's the law.  If I get someone with to heavy an accent I ask to be transfer to someone else first and if I encounter the same problem again, then ask for a USA tech.
Suggest you write down the day the time and name and country they're answering from.
Had purchased a plan with "GEEK SQUAD" from Best Buy, somehow they said the plan only cover hardware not software and somehow they gave me the HP #.  I bought the "HP TOTAL CARE, last year after my computer was infected, the tech cleared all PC running as new so bought for $139.00 included "hardware and software" coverage. May 15 was my last day of coverage and got an Indian woman "Rosemarie" (fake) to tell me no coverage for software,  Called again got someone else "Vinay", Oh both tell me I'm out off warranty.  The reason in India they are a day ahead  so make sure you tell them in your location you have coverage till midnight of day of coverage.
He "supposedly" took control of my PC remotely and said all was clear and PC running smoothly.  At ll:30 pm  remembered something had forgotten to ask "Vinay".  So called and got "Kevin" (fake) to help me.  Again he remotely took control of PC and showed me I had a lot of MALWARE useless files duplicated downloads etc.  and installed a software to help convert my old WORKS files to WORD.
So I think I got my moneys worth. What helped was me printing out the warranty agreement with all necessary information.  My HP Pavillion Slim line has had no hardware issue in over 2 yrs.

Voicemail message received 31 Mar 2014 at 1126 from this Georgia, US, phone number. Caller is, as reported by many above this message, English-challenged, to put it mildly. The only part of the voicemail message I understood was, "HP". Since I had just insisted my one-week old HP computers be returned due to HP's non-English speaking, no-tech, non-support, not located in the US personnel, for which I have already received full credit to my credit card purchase, it appears HP is attempting to follow up by having ANOTHER of HP's non-English speaking, no-tech, non-support, not located in the US personnel attempt to talk to me via telephone by routing their offshore-originated phone call through a Georgia, US, phone number. Read my lips, HP: I am not as dumb as you apparently believe I am and there is no way I will EVER, EVER, EVER purchase another HP product.

I was busy and did not answer in time. It probably was HP because we received a repaired computer from them this morning. I wish they would have left a message.
I am so thankful for this website , since I have had quite a few unknown phone calls lately. Thanks for all the information,  it has been a big help.

Thank you for your message online.  I got a call from this number, not knowing who it is from, I did not answer.  Now I know it is HP, THANK YOU (I was in touch with them by email).  I am skeptical to answer calls from numbers unknown.  Specially in light of the Target credit breach (I was one of those shopper in that time period).  I also have been getting calls (2) from area code 473, which I found out they are from the South Africa country Grenada, major scam calls.  I have a feeling they got my number from the Target credit breach.  DON'T ANSWER CALLS from area code 473!!!!!

I haven't picked up this call yet but I did just have my laptop serviced through HP so it makes sense that this is HP calling me. Thanks for the info I've been getting scam calls from another number which is claiming to be Verizon. I looked it up and found this site which helped me figure out that number was a scam. It's good to have these resources to figure these things out.

I was puzzled that the Caller ID said Buford, GA.  Buford GA???  Really?  Come to find out, it was the HP Executive Customer Service team in Palo Alto, CA.  A very welcome call.  That said.. I'm sickened by most of the comments here.  What a bunch of whiners and bullies for the most part.  Just grow up.  If you hate HP so much, buy another product.  Pretty simple fix, right?  Grow up.  The Internet has made people lazy, inconsiderate, impatient bullies.

Sent in one of my HP computers in for warranty work. This call was to confirm that I received the PC in working condition. They also said they would call me back in another week to check again.

Sorry folks but, you are being conned. The 678 number is a clone that is not part of the HP Customer Service Department. If you Google HP Support there are a number of phone numbers listed but they are not HP. The correct and only number to call for HP Support is 1-800-474-6836 and the techs there are very knowledgeable and still "keep kicking dead printers upstairs" for replacement. Granted some of the techs are in India but, there are also techs in Toronto Canada and if you have trouble understanding the India tech just ask him/her to transfer you to Toronto. The REAL HP TECHS at the 1-800 number do as they promise nd if necessary can sell you a refurbished HP product with a full warranty and free shipping for much less than you can buy it at any store. No I'm not an HP employee and never have been but, I am a heavy computer/internet user and have always been happy with my HP products and the HP Customer Service Techs.

I purchased a HP laptop that would not run on the battery straight out of the box. After being disconnected three times, I finally got to speak to tech support. I was on the phone with him for nearly 2-3/4 hours. After unsuccessfully trying to fix my laptop, I was connected with another person that gave me the option of sending the laptop back at my expense or receiving a replacement battery. Both options would require my giving them a credit card number. No thanks! I returned the laptop to the store for a full refund. Tech support said they would call back within 24 hours. It was a full week before HP support left a message on my machine.
Caller ID said: Buford GA 678-288-0226
It was HP support.

HP If you are monitoring this, I returned a printer HP sent me on 1-9-13 and I returned 1-6-13 with HP Federal Express Return Label and still have not received my credit on my credit card.

The HP service guy who called from this number 678-288-0226 many times said it would happen in 2 business weeks; then he called back a week later (still in January) and I had to remind him I returned the printer with the label they provided.

I tried to call it today but the guy did not give me his id # so the phone hangs up.

I am a loyal HP customer, can you help me, please?

Now I see "HP" in the message on this page. I did call HP a few weeks ago. It would be nice if they showed that in the call iD

Yes, this is a call-back from HP.

Last week, I called them to exercise the warranty on my HP Netbook, because the disk-drive failed the HP Diagnostics.

So, they called me today (1/1/2013 at 11:15 Pacific), even though they earlier had E-mailed me to say that the disk-drive should be received by me TWO days from now, to ask if I had received the shipment.
(Not likely -- I called late Friday, just before a weekend, and today is New Year's Day, when many
shipping companies are closed, or just minimally "open".)

HP has been great -- no problems when telephoning-them to report my problem,
and no problems getting them to ship a replacement disk-drive.

They say that they are also sending a set of DVDs to allow me to reinstall Windows 7.

Show me as a "satisfied customer" of HP, even though I probably have been talking to
some "outsourced" company that provides a call-center in Mumbai (India).

Event Reminder
I just got a call from this number (11:15 Pacific on 01/01/2013 -- talk about having a "24/7" support centre -- to get called on New Year's Day).

The caller is from HP, and HP is sending me a replacement disk-drive for my HP Netbook, and the caller asked for me by name, and referenced the waranty-replacement.

It's my good fortune that I had just *TWELVE* days left on my warranty!

HP said that the disk-drive would be delivered two days from now, so it's unusual that they are calling me today, instead of 2 days from now.

But, this is a completely-legitimate call from a reputable company.

They called me to make sure I got the HP printer today. This is my second printer, a replacement, since the first one broke down one week after it was not covered anymore. The reason why it does not work anymore is that I had to replace the ink cartridges. So I went to Staples, bought new cartridges for about $100.00 and replaced the set up ones by the new ones. Then all the problems started. So I called and went through all the trouble shooting procedures with a HP representative. Nothing helped. Conclusion: you need a new printer.  They send you a refurbished printer and ask a lot of money for it. I mean, it is ridiculous that the original printer ( Officejet pro 8600) breaks down after one year and 1 week. Anyway, I bought the second one, since I had these expensive cartridges already. Hopefully this one will last a bit longer. The guy at the phone said, he will call back on Monday to see if I have any problem installing the refurbished printer....

This number called today (8/8/12)  at 1415 ET. Caller ID says 'Buford, GA'. Call went to voice mail. Message was 'left' that was marked urgent, yet there was no (vocal)message, just dead air.

I note that many comments say this is HP. I have had some recent dealings with them, most recent being a warranty replacement for a monitor, but all previous phone calls from them left an audible message and a return phone number.  I will believe this is a call from HP when they leave a real message that ID's them as such and provides contact info.

An 'urgent' message with no message doesn't strike me as urgent, so I deleted it...
