I rec'd a phone call from them regarding a credit card back from the 1990's that "slipped thru the cracks and must be paid".  They said they were going to put a lean on my house until the card was paid.  How can this happen?

I received a call from Mr. Tom Williams about check fraud and later in the message about a civil suit and if I don't respond it will go to court in a threatening manner.  I called the number he left several times to get info and to let him know I don't know what he is talking about and send some information to me.  No response.  He is always in a meeting on his message.  No letters were ever sent by mail or certified.  What should I do?

I have recv'd numerous calls from this company. I have just started to hang up on them!!. They will not send any proof to you by the way of mail. They just want you to pay them over the phone.They continue to call you to try to strong arm you and scare you to pay this off,as a courtesy to you, to save you from embarrassment!!. I have been told several times that they have already turned this over to the court system, or then they call and say,they will give me till the end of the day to call and clear this up. Or they will turn it over to the court system, that their attorney's are getting antsy. So either it is turned over or it isn't right? They can't take it out of the court system once it is there. They are even calling old phone numbers and references trying to scare them to pay it off for me, or get me to call them to pay it off. They are rude, is this not illegal debt collecting? Who can I turn this in to? People are being threatened with court presidings on numerous calls..
Now he is trying to say I am listed on 2 cases. 1 is a civil suit, and the other is check fraud. he has always claimed the check fraud but now claims a civil suit, and in the beginning it was I was being investigated by the irs.. so which one is it.?

I received a phone call from this # monday.  Told me I would be arrested if I did not pay.  I told him that I did not know what he was talking about and he needed to send me information in the mail.  He said I have received and I have not.  I had the call blocked and he now uses a number with a + in front of it.  He called my business at 6:01 and left a message.  I am keeping the recording.  He threated me on the phone and said he would have me arrested at work.  I would like to have this person arrested for his language on the recording to me.

Well a month later and the phone calls start up again. I noticed there is kind of a pattern with these people.They are also harrassing people that was put down as a reference threatening them, that they will be dragged down with me. How is this legal?

I just read a job posting for this company, and they want people with military background etc.It is a law firm and they make about 25% of the debt they collect. you should read it.. very interresting.

You might actually own someone but do not give this company any of your info, nor admit to owing anything. They will try bullying you into giving them your bank info. I have told them to send me something on paper. I was told I had all the paper sent to me previously.

I posted one message and then looked further on this page, and it seems like they have a card they read from. I was also told I am being investigated with the IRS.. I am on social security. I don't make enough to file.!!!. I was even asked if I had a big dog,because the server needed to know this..
I had alarm bells ringing in my head.They are just trying to strong arm broke people.

Shouldn't you get certified mail or something like that?
