I have received this call a few times.. they seem to change their names at times.  Says I owe a debt that they cannot give details about but if it is not paid within a certain time I will be arrested?  Who does business like that anyway?  I do not owe anything to anyone like this.  They are trying to scare people and have gotten their names and #'s from people who have legitimately borrowed money and PAID it back,  So, I hang up on them.  I get these calls a few times a year.

I am now getting calls from this number and getting calls from at least 4 different collection agencies looking for someone named Laurie G, a person I don't know.  Every month it is a new "collection agency".  I did a reverse look up of my phone number and it is listed under this Laurie person during the same time period I have had the number.  I wonder if Laurie gave someone a fake number that turned out to be mine.  I guess the next step is to change the phone number but who knows who might have had the number previously.  It would be nice if you could tell the caller they have the wrong number and they'd leave you alone but it seems if you get on a "list" your number gets passed around to different agencies with 100's of different telephone numbers and how in the world would you ever get off all the call lists?

Please don't respond to Sharon Jackson, she's a bonifide scammer. She called me saying she was going to file charges on me for check fraud over a debt I owed a payday loan company. Granted I did owe the debt but, when i called the company the debt had been taken over by a collection agency. That collection agency had another company to pursue me for the debt and they knew nothing of a Sharon Jackson from Weinstein & associates or wherever she claimed to represent. I paid off my debt with that company and I traced my debt from them all the way back to the original lender. So called Investigator Jackson is a FRAUD! Don't pay them anything, trust me on this. You can even tell by the unproffesionalism in thier conversations that it's not a legit company. I have also filed a complaint with the FTC on Sharon Jackson and her rag tag band of crooks.

I also got a message stating that the caller was "Investigator" Sharon Jackson.  She mentioned the name of a person I did not know but stated that felony charges were pending and I needed to call her to get my name cleared.  She gave me a case number and stressed that I Do Not disregard the call.

You CANNOT be arrested for debt, debt is a CIVIL matter, not a CRIMINAL matter.
Ignore the calls.

This is a scam!  They bought old debts that had been paid or written off and are trying to collect on them.  They just called my sister about a payday loan that I allegedly took out in 2006 saying I owe $3000 and am going to be arrested for fraud.  I really don't recall taking out a loan and I'm sure I would remember not paying it back - I pay my bills.  They must be desperate going after debt that old!!

I have called Investigator Sharon Jackson's number repeatedly all day.  Leaving VM and talking to her and her "supervisor: Mr. Fox when he answers.  I'm letting them know how it feels to be harrassed.  They aren't liking it much. But hey!  they asked me to call them back and that's what I'm doing.  They tried to tell me I'm a "person of interest" in a fraud case involving my daughter regarding a pay day loan.  There was never a pay day loan. They don't like it when  you turn the tables.

They call and try to represent themselves as officers of the law and try to harrass people into paying questionable or fictious debts.

This has all the markings of a scam.

Folks - this person is a scam artist plain and simple, if you receive a call from this number report the call to your state attorney general and also the FTC.
By law any debt collector must identify the company they work for and also who they are, also do not give out information of any type to these people. Any legitimate debt collector knows this and even if a legit debt collector calls you and is rude and demanding you can report them as well.

Now the idiot who is making these calls from this number made the mistake of calling my mom this morning and I just happened to answer the phone. Said idiot started off by saying my brother was facing a court case in less than an hour and that she needed to talk to my mom. I called her out as a scam artist and of courses she hung up but I called the number right back and identified myself and she threatened to call my county.

Listen folks if you get a call like this please know its a scam and also to combat these idiots if you just happen to have a whistle or a small air horn near the phone by all means blast them with it, also please let family members especially the elderly know about these people so they dont get ripped off.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

This lady by the name of Sharon Jackson called my cell, my mother, my church saying she needed to talk to my son to keep charges from being filed against him.  My son called  She was rude and demanded that he pay $1000 to her and then pay the rest later. She is probably a scam artist trying to get money from innocent naive people.  Others have reported on her on another website indicating being harassed by her for charges they don't know anything about.
