yrucllng 2014-05-05 18:18:44 Unknown
So tired of these types of phone calls. All day long until late evening. My telephone bill is quite expensive.
Perhaps 678-679-3123 would like to share a part of my bill for the amount of time used. I could certainly use the help.

} folks running a variety of scams via the telephone
What appears consistently lost on you is that nuisance calls from domestic debt collectors are *not the same* as those from illegal sales shops and commercial fundraisers. Our federal and state laws don't lump them all together for the same treatment, which is why it's counterproductive if you do.
A debt collection agency like this has one more critical difference from the majority of illegal sales callers. VFC has a functional mailing address and it's not kept secret. Much as you seem to want to give it away, you have control over its calls to you. One short notice to "cease communication" via Certified Mail is all you need as a "not me" case to show you're serious and to set a legal pit trap which VFC would be foolish to step into.
} I don't believe that anyone is going to stop the phone calls from criminals
Few to none of us as individuals can win the war alone, but we can settle our own scores. I've already been to federal court and spanked a different collection agency hard for, among other violations, ignoring my orders regarding convenient contact. I did this alone, without "an endless amount of hours and money". The labor was a burden for sure, but all my expenses were paid by the loser, as the FDCPA provides. If I'd found a lawyer I liked, s/he would have had no trouble running my case on contingency.
I've no illusion that my one lawsuit created more than a minor itch in the company's hide. I do think if more people straightened their backs and raised proper disputes, lawbreaking agencies would be scratching themselves raw until finally changing their behavior.
} Apparently, you are the only one in the universe, who realizes how things really work... hope that is working out for you.
My opponent took a judgment and I got my rent and groceries paid for a year. I think it worked out pretty well. Nothing I promote as countermeasures is not echoed by the CFPB and the FTC and consumer litigants nationwide. The debt collection industry wants us all to surrender to apathy, just shrug and try to ignore its noise. Apparently, it's done a great job beating you down.

Certainly we don't need the annoyance of someone like AB, whose ignorant attitude ruins better judgment, adding to the misinformation which extends the needless suffering wrought by rogue debt collectors.

Got call and left no message. I called it and asked what was the purpose of the call. They were looking for someone who used to have my number. I asked them to remove me from their list.

These people call my home alot. I called the number back today from my cell and a guy answered. He said that he had not called the cell number I used and asked for the number he had called. I acted like an old man who couldn't understand what the hell he was saying. He finally got annoyed with me and hung up. I love messing with telemarketers who call outsourced or from idiots who have been sold my number by my phone company. Aaahh only in America. One time I kept some Indian guy on the phone for 30 minutes acting like an old lady who had oldtimers and kept repeating the same story over and over again not letting HIM HANG UP. Ha ha it was great. We might as well have some fun at their expense since we hate these stupid calls.
Steff 2013-09-13 18:19:43 Unknown
Yay Sharpshooter! Is annoying enough to get the repeat nuisance calls, and then have the need to look up what the heck the deal is with them. We don't need the "dude with a tude", adding to the annoyance level. Your reply was dead on.

I've gotten probably well over a 1000 unwanted calls from folks running a variety of scams via the telephone. These folks are criminals, doing what criminals do. It doesn't really matter what the rules and laws are .... criminals ignore them (THAT is what criminals do). There are fake charities, fake collection agencies, fake carpet cleaners, pretend political calls (the real ones are bad enough), and of course, who doesn't just love Rachael connected with the credit card scam. Seems like most number ID's are spoofed, and that most callers, use call out only, phone lines. I have had the same phone number for over 30 years and don't have ANY debt (and certainly no past bad debts). Debt collection scams are all the rage right now .. and have gotten at least 25 calls from this number thus far (most have been blocked). I haven't seen ANY evidence that anyone is stopping the tele-scammers from operating. There is one scamming group, that puts out millions of calls in one day (and they run many different scams). Posting on this forum, at least lets folks know a little something about the nasty folks who are calling them. And yep, I sure don't believe that anyone is going to save me from harassment from a criminal, who is pretending to chase down some imaginary named character for some alleged debt. When these folks finally quit calling my number, another group shall be calling for some OTHER imaginary person, and the whole pattern shall repeat itself. So far as rights, it appears as though we all have the right to be endlessly harassed by nuisance calls from scammers. Apparently, you are the only one in the universe, who realizes how things really work... hope that is working out for you. BTW, had an account that was cleared through MF Global, and although it was against the rules for those folks to steal 1.2 billion dollars from client accounts, it happened anyway (laws were broken, but no criminal charges were filed). So no ... I don't believe that anyone is going to stop the phone calls from criminals ... unless they are really diligent and intelligent, have an endless amount of hours and money, and have legal know how, that far exceeds the norm. If one scam type gets shut down .. the criminals just shift to running an entirely different kind of scam (at least, that is what my tracking of the phone calls has shown me thus far). If you know a way to stop these folks ... then the rest of us would certainly be blessed by your actions. For now, shall never answer unknown numbers, and shall post warnings for others.

Calls everyday, no message
Resident47 2013-09-01 11:12:09 Unknown
Your callers do not maintain this site or this web page. Your callers cannot magically determine which numbers should not be called based on anonymous comments. You cannot expect compliance with your orders until you deliver them *directly* to your caller. This agency has a domestic mailing address. I suggest using it for Certified Mail demand letters and process service as needed.
Resident47 2013-09-01 11:10:09 Unknown
No one else reading this page can ''stop this number from calling'' on your behalf. That is *your job*. State and federal laws exist to help you get it done.

Ed, why not try reading my remarks from February more slowly, and actually glancing at the pages I linked? The *entire point* of my response to AB was that the DNC registry is not "relevant" *AT ALL*!
Claiming "there is nothing in place to stop them from calling" indicates that you are on the same Square One as "AB" so far as comprehending your rights when facing collection activity, one of which is a quieter phone. To get that done takes *direct action*, not filing reports, not waiting for a regulator to save you, and not the block/ignore response.
Resident47 2013-09-01 10:37:32 Unknown
I'll thank you not to insinuate that we're on the same team. Plenty of people who don't owe a nickel are hassled by collection agency skip tracers. In this case I'm one of them, and I'm none too pleased with its secrecy and "peek-a-boo" call patterns.
Resident47 2013-09-01 10:37:07 Unknown
AB wasn't asking anything. AB was venting. If I wanted to knock that commentor, I could work up unsuitably coarse insults like yours. I'm only pointing out how *not* to combat debt collectors. Learning not to broadstroke all unwanted callers is a critical early step.
Resident47 2013-09-01 10:36:35 Unknown
No one can "work for" a list and I'm only impatient with one "normal human behavior", namely stupidity. AB came here Angrier Than Thou only to moan about "unwanted calls from various scammers", denigrate the evidently misunderstood DNC registry, and then trot out that tiresome threat of noisemaking as a vengeful response. AB was not interested in solving a problem, but maybe others reading here are.
Thowing a tantrum because the DNC registry does not function beyond its scope is unhelpful. Different nuisance call categories are covered by different rules and strategies. In many cases, you must *take direct action* if you want them stopped, not spew unfocused rants and wait for a rescue. As soon as you learn those distinctions and your options, your handling of nuisance calls improves markedly, possibly along with your temper.

Calls every so often and never leaves a message. When I have answered, they get nervous, say nothing and quickly hang up. I recommend to block them and to report them for harassment phone calls.

I have a second line on my phone with a number that is NOT publisheD and has NEVER been given out to a single person. I receive daily calls from this company (that uses multiple phone numbers). No response to my answering the phone, and never leaves a message.
THIS IS A SCAM BECAUSE THEY ARE CALLING TO A PHONE NUMBER THAT HAS NEVER BEEN USED. WHICH MEANS THEY ARE USING AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM OF RANDOM PHONE NUMBERS TO CALL, LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO SCAM.

Let's be fair here. The collapse of America is actually the hard work of both parties over 30 years. The spirit of bipartisanship is alive and well!
