the recorded message said it was CardHolder services (no company) and that my credit card account was up to date but they were offering a percentage reduction...... sounds like a SCAM to me.

I have never been a Verizon customer in my life, never even done more than look at their website to see that they cannot touch the price,the plan or unlimited data that I get where I have been for over 12 years, so I never give them any of my information to be contacting me even for a sales call.  This is crap!    

Considering that I do not have Verizon, and I have never been a Verizon customer, how is this not a scam?  I think it is more likely that when a few people got the call they just happened to be Verizon customers who were past due.  Where I used to live Verizon was not the best option and I have had the same provider for 12 years, even after I moved, I get actual real unlimited data and not a "data package" plus more minutes much cheaper than Verizon so I have no plans to change, so this number can stop calling.

Caller wanted to invite me to a timeshare buy.  Informed me that since this what not a solicitation for anything the Do not Call list was not enforceable.  Called back 3 times in one minutes time.

This is definitely a SCAM! I do not have Verizon or any other cellular service account. There would be no legitimate way for them to have my name or phone number. Like the previous poster said, the people posting that its legit are the scammers themselves. I have and will continue to report the calls. They have been calling multiple times in a row, every single day. The fines for this type of harassment are enormous... Just FYI.

it's driving me nuts. they've been leaving me messages three times a day for the past week. i can't block them, because they call from a different number each time.

They haven't done a very good job warning customers.  I just got a call tellhing me to call that very same number.  The message was the same too.
I have been a Verizon customer for over 10 years and that is not how they conduct their business.

Received a call this morning from a 623 area code number (I am in Phoenix, so it's a local area code) with a recorded message to call 'Verizon' at 877-403-0835 & use my cell number as my "reference number" for some status update to my number/account. Looked up the 877  number, got to this site. Looked up the 623 number the message came from, and lo & behold...it's a number owned by T-Mobile.
This is NOT a legitimate Verizon call...do NOT be fooled. Looks like T-Mobile trying to poach customers from Verizon.

This is a huge scam. Not Verizon!!! You call the # and an automated message comes on with a dollar amount and tells you its past due and you have to pay it right now in order to avoid your account from being suspended. Then they want you to enter your Credit Card information. HUGE SCAM!

I received the same voicemail this morning - i never answer a call if I don't recognize the phone number (called from 617-892-4452) and they left the same message.

The "678" number may be a land line connection for a VoIP phone service.  I had a Verizon message myself this morning, telling me to call the same (877) 403-0835 number, but it originated from a "313" area code. After doing some digging, I found that this 313 area code number is tied to a VoIP land line (which could be Vonage, Skype, or any other Internet-based phone service).  So that explains the various businesses that call from the "678" number.  I am about to report this at the same "313" number as well.

My Verizon call, BTW, was about a "change in status to my account".  I cancelled a lot of services last week, in preparation for going to another wireless carrier.  My guess is that it is a telemarketing call...

I always get this call just after my bill is do.I wonder who has access to my info and is using it to call me at this time. Maybe an inside person at Verizon getting paid by another company to furnish information. Just a guess.

This number is calling and harrassing me at my job, i've never even had verizon phone, but they tell me i owe  them money and need to pay, I told them to stop calling me at my job, and I have been divorced for 10yrs and the are asking for me by my married name,,,,,,,DON'T GIVE ANY INFO TO THESE PEOPLE

I got a call from this number ..I called Verizon  gave them the number ..and they have verified that this is NOT Coming from them ..and that they do not use this type of message to alert you of overdue bill ..they call you from verizon number . PLEASE BE ADVISED IT IS A SCAM ! I have reported it to phishing  ..as the Verizon rep told me to do !
The people who are coming on here saying it's legit are probably the scammers ..they are pretty smart that way !! Dont be fooled ..just call Verizon at a verified number and ask before you call this # back ...and anyone can look up your bill info and see if you are overdue by using your phone # and a few key words !
ALWAYS CALL VERIZON FIRST ..and NEVER CALL back any #'s you do not recognise ..it's always very simple to go on the internet look up numbers to verify or find out where the call is coming from or if it's a legit business ! BE SMART PEOPLE !!

Since Tuesday I have received calls for this Number and also 973-718-4774 -3 calls and I've also gotten calls from a Washington stae area code and a few other area codes. I never answer them but if I call the number back it says that is the Verizon message retrieval center and give another phone numer to call to get the message.
These call come on my home phone and my cell phone. I get text messages from Verizon and emails from them too when my bill is past due. It is bordering on harassment.

Received a msg left on my home phone "from" this number.  The man said he had a very important legal matter that he did not know how to go about without hearing from me and that I should have my legal representative or myself call immediately.   He left the following number to call  855 695 4433.  As I don't owe any bills nor have any legal matters pending, this is a shill call and Im ignoring it.

Claims to be from Verizon about a past due bill. Verizon always sends text messages about your bill status, and if it gets late enough they will have an automated call that will allow you make a payment or to talk to an account rep.

This call demands a payment be made over the phone immediately with taking to a rep! SCAM!!

The Voicemail states "This is Verizon Wireless calling about the wireless account belonging to (My name), please call us to day at 877-403-0835 where you will be prompted to enter your 10 digit reference number (they say my phone number) once again the number to call is 877-403-0835 and the reference number is (they say my phone number)". O.k. I call the number...... it automatically says we have verified your number.... please enter you billing zip code to retrieve your personal message........

I hang the phone up..... because I have been a Verizon customer for over 6 yrs and I know for a damn fact that they would not do that.... they leave messages for you to call them and they tell you personally on the phone what they called for.....

True enough.... I called and reported this event to Verizon and they confirmed my suspicion..... and notated my account.... and forwarded this information to supervisors, so they could warn other customers........

It's Verizon calling about an overdue amount. It's not a scam. They have only called me on the instances where my phone bill has been seriously overdue (due to problems with my bank's automatic payments but that's a whole different story). Once everything is paid up, the phone calls miraculously stop.

Received call from this number at 9:20 AM.  Answered phone but, the other end was silent.

It's an obvious scam.  Verizon does not call from a 678 area code.  They do not call at odd hours.  They send a text to notify you of your bill issues.  ANYBODY can find our you cell phone service provider, your number and name.  It means nothing.  Use common sense.  AGAIN, this is a scam - OBVIOUSLY.

Next~the bill just came this morning so I keep getting it when it hits and backs up the payment. I will pay uall on Wednesday morning when I get diisability. After today I will reset my bank to pay u automatically. If its a payment me know through writing. Thx

I also have received it twice today. Bill isn't due yet. I called Verizon and asked and the lady said it was an automated message. I'm not sure though. Verizon always asks for a security number for verification and this automated message didn't. It said you cannot make payment arrangements and must pay now, to proceed with making payment press 1. Just strange.

I got a call from this number saying something about it was Verizon and they wanted to discuss my account. First thing I thought was its a scam...so I called *611 on my phone which is verizons number to check a balance. Turns up, my account was past due ( by a coupla days). Hey, glad I found this out now rather than have the phone shut off cause the wife forgot to pay the bill.
