Received calls to two of my numbers in rapid succession, but didn't answer either.  Card Services is FIA Card Services which used to be MBNA before being bought by B of A.

Called the number on the back of my credit card and cust. svc. saw some notations from the fraud department on my account for today.  Appears that the automated system called me due to the notations from today.  Fraud department said that charge went through and no new holds.

I called the 800 number on the back of my card.  678-797-7000 is a legitimate BofA number (but it can be spoofed by spammers and fishers).  The return number they left on my voicemail was also legitimate (800-427-2449).  I called BofA to complain the voicemail only said it was CARD SEVICES, Security Department and DID NOT identify as BofA.  In the past, I've received spam text and voicemail from "Jennifer at Card Services," so I thought this was an illegal call since I am on the DNC list.

My call to BofA representative indicated this call was initiated by BofA because I made two "unusual" purchases at local national food chain stores.  However, they were ONLY ABOUT 25-35% above normal.

This tells me the Government and big banks are snooping at a level approaching Big Brother.  Be forwarned - expect a call if you buy out of your "normal" pattern.

Corzine and other financial leaders "loose" billions with no accountability while we citizens can't even purchase our food in peace.  Vote the bums out in November 2012!

The call was from BofA to let me know that there is a fraudulent charge on my credit card. I had let the call go to VM and then called the card services number on the back of my credit card. It was indeed a fraudulent charge and the BofA customer service rep confirmed that someone from one of their other departments had tried to call me earlier about the charge. Also received email alerts from BofA about "Irregular Credit Card Activity." BofA seems very diligent to respond to suspicious charges. If you get a call in the future, please call your credit card company to validate any strange charges on your credit card. Mine was a Walmart charge that originated in Texas and I live in CA.

It is bank of America. They didn't ask me for any personal information, besides verifying some recent transactions. They told me my debit card number had been compromised, a new one was on the way, when it was mailed, and to expect it in the next couple days. Got home from work and it was sitting in the mailbox.

When a stranger claims to be your card issuer and wants personal info from you, the correct procedure is to hang up and call your issuer using the number on the back of your card. *NEVER* give out info to a stranger who calls you no matter who the stranger claims to be. Would you believe me if I called you and told you I am Henry Paulson, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, and I need your credit card number? Beware of shills on this thread who claim this number does belong to your card issuer -- don't believe them and it's completely irrelevant anyway because you must *NEVER* give your personal info to a stranger who calls you *OR* call him back on a number he gives/leaves you. *ALWAYS* call the number on the back of the card.

Legitimate call from Bank of America. At some point a card or account was compromised; they were letting me know the problem and the fix. If you have any doubts, call the customer service number on the back of your card. (Hit 00 to speak to a representative without going through the bull****.) Really a good thing.

I received a call from this number asking me to verify a "suspicious transaction."  The problem is that the transaction took place FIVE MONTHS AGO.  This seemed strange as I typically am contacted within 1 day (if not within hours) of the transaction.  When I confirmed it was valid, they noted that the purchase (tickets) indicates I may be out of the country and would I like to confirm the dates I will be gone so they can put a note on my credit card (or know when to break into my home!).  I then called the number on the back of the card (BofA) and they confirmed they had NOT contacted me, and reminded me of a security breach Visa had at the time of the purchase, which led to them issuing me a new card.

Many of you noted the calls were real... which may be true, but it's also possible the caller ID was spoofed for others of you (those who don't own a credit card from BofA, etc...) -- read this article for more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing.

I'm going to see if my phone carrier can confirm who it was that called, since the caller ID was obviously wrong in my case.

It is the Bank of America. There was a suspicious charge. They stopped it. Besides the call I found a message in my account mail and they froze me card.It was a 600. ChargeThey took care of it and will investigate. I think someone got the my
Number from a restraint transaction. All it takes is a quick picture into a cell phone and the 3 numbers on back to make an online purchase

Legit call from BOfA fraud services (card Services security department). Did find two fraudulent transactions on the account. You don't have to read the CC number, phone number on file will suffice. They did not leave a message on mobile but left one on the home phone.

Just got a call from this number.  They left a message, said something regarding St Mary's something or other (he mumbled & ran his words together) and said there was some a recent transaction coming in to them regarding my Master Card account and needed to talk with me about it, and that I should call them back at 800-427-2449.

Yeah right, I don't even have a Master Card account.

Don't fall for it folks.

Ah, no, I won't trust this call. Because the call back number appears in this database as a phishing one. So I will check the accounts I have and go from there... safely!

I am the most cautious person, but don't be alarmed if you get a call from this number, it is BofA (or a service they use: FIA Card Services) - it is not a scam.  Service is legitimately telling you about a possible fraudulent charge - at least in my case it was, a charge they don't usually see on my credit card.  They didn't leave a message for me.

When you call it back it says you can visit their website.  Still doesn't give you much info.  I called number on back of my credit card to be safe and they confirmed had been trying to reach me.

So, no need to worry in this case!

This phone number, 678-797-7000, IS NOT BANK OF AMERICA!!!!

Bank of America's credit card fraud department is 1-800-732-9194 and their customer service number is 1-800-432-1000.  I got the fraud number from Bank of America's web site.  The customer service number is on the back of my Bank of America debit card.

If I called you and "said" I was with Bank of America, would you give me your account information?  No, you wouldn't.

And IF it really was Bank of America's Fraud Department calling you, they would already have your credit card information; they wouldn't ask you for the whole card number!!

THIS IS **NOT** BANK OF AMERICA!!!!

I called the number back and the lady that I was finally connected to said that "they handle many different credit cards, but that she wouldn't know which one I had unless I gave her a credit card number".

BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IF YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD OR DEBIT CARD, OF IF YOUR BANK CALLS YOU AND YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE, EITHER CALL YOUR BANK DIRECTLY OR CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD!!!!

JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE CALLS AND SAYS THEY ARE FROM BANK OF AMERICA, DOESN'T MEAN THEY *REALLY* ARE FROM BANK OF AMERICA.

ONCE AGAIN, WHEN IN DOUBT, CALL YOUR BANK DIRECTLY OR CALL THE 1-800 CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD!!!!

This is NOT a legitimate call. I recieved a message on my voicemail from "cardmember services" about needing to verify my transactions due to suspected fraud. The message wasn't for anyone specific, both mu husband and I have a BofA credit card. When I called the number that they gave me and asked which card this was in response to, she hastily said Bank of America then she asked for my full 16 digit card number.

I stopped right there and told her I was going to call the number on the back of my credit card, she got really pissy with me, answering "Fine, do that then!" then hung up on me.

Event Reminder
This, I think, really is Bank of America.  Fraud Department, to be exact.  They were calling to explain why my MasterCard, at the time, was frozen.

I already knew that the card was frozen and had a frustrating conversation with BA's "customer service" dept, which just would not tell me why the card is frozen and why they did not call me immediately, when this card was closed.  Had to find out on my own, when my on-line M/C link dissapeared.

While I appreciated the Fraud Department's call, do wish Bank of America called me right away.  And, those dang "customer" service people do not seem to know anything, other than CYA answers and the script that's in front of them on his/her computer.

I'm on verge of closing all BA accounts!

This is a call from a third party company who administers fraud/safety conerns for several credit card companies. The name of their company is actually "Card Services" but I also did not feel comfortable giving some random company all my personal information over the phone. So, I called my credit card company (from the number on the back of my card) and asked about it. Indeed, one of my online purchases had been flagged as potentially fraudulent. I was grateful to know they are looking out for me! I had it removed and everything is fine now.

Part of a fraud campaign targeting numerous financial institutions.  Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.

The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from some con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.  There is a similar pattern to other fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

I was skeptical at first as well... But  this number didn't ask for any information from me, only to verify transactions... And when I called Bank Of America to verify he did say it was for Card Member Services.

Hope this helps.
