I received a call from Mrs Johnson also, but it was to a friend asking where I was and she need to get in touch with me concerning a legal matter. I called back and was told that I had a debt from 2007. Do not recall the debt, I told her it is possible, she told me not to deny it and it was a debt of over $500 and was a felony. To make a long story short, DO NOT TRUST THIS WOMAN!!! Do not know what she is up to, but I do plan to report this immediately!!

My roommate received a call today from Mrs Johnson, stating that she needed to get in touch with Henry D regarding an important legal matter. That the matter was being transferred to my local county for prosecution. I called the number back and was asked to verify my personal information, and was told that I had a legal matter pertaining to a debt I have from 2007. She asked if I was responsible for this debt and I said possibly, without further information I could not confirm it. She told me that I should not deny it ( which I was not doing ). She said to stop denying it, that she had the information in front of her. I said that I was not denying it, I was not sure exactly what she was talking about. I then asked her if the call was being recorded and she stated yes, it was. I said that I did not give permission to record the call. She said that if I did not allow her to record the call it was the same as denying ownership of the debt. My friend then took the phone from me and asked her to stop recording the call as it is illegal in our state to record calls without both parties permission. He asked her the name of the company she worked for and at first she refused, then stated it was Credit Processing Unit. He again asked her to stop recording the call and what debt she was talking about. She then proceed to give the information to my friend!! He asked her if she stopped recording and she hung up on him. He called back and she proceeded to hang up on him again. He called back a third time and got a voicemail for Michelle. How this woman got my friends number she would not tell us. We have no bills or connections whatsoever together, She did have my personal information, how she got it is a surprise to me. DO NOT EVER GIVE ThIS WOMAN ANY RESPONSE WHEN SHE ASKS YOU TO VERIFY ANYTHING!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY BIG SCAM AND NOW I FEEL MY SECURITY HAS BEEN BREACHED AND MUST WATCH ANY ACCOUNTS THAT I HAVE.

Ms Johnson also called me with some acct MasterCard acct from 2009. Asked call to send me any details and they refused. Turns out Ms Johnson is really Tammy Wilson and weighs 300+ lbs. Never heard of the courts providing a courtesy call before proceeding with a filing. To Ms (Tammy) Johnson, get off you big bottom and get a real job.

I just received a call, well I didn't, they called my 85 year old grandmother, telling her that I had a very serious felony charge, and I needed to be contacted right away. So my grandmother calls my mom, my uncle, my sister trying to get in touch with me. So, I call back the number 678-894-7531 and a Ms. Johnson answers the phone and says I'm in serious trouble, facing a felony charge, because I made a payday loan through cashnet back in Jan 2010 and failed to pay. I told her I did not make one, never, but maybe my wife did that I didnt know about. There she went into a rant saying I was responsible even though my wife did it, told her to calm down, I was just saying. Anyway, checked with my wife, who said it was a scam right off the bat and she never made one. Ms. Johnson insisted that she wanted to help me but the paperwork was already in process for me to be picked up, I needed to make a deal that I would pay half of $1500 by Friday and she would send me an email to show arresting officers, but I would still be liable for the other $1400. If I didnt make arrangements with attorney fees I was looking at close to $5000. When I starting pressing her for info, the phone accidently hung up.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I received a call on my cell phone from a Miss Johnson at this number 678-894-7531...Sounding very official and needing to verify my identification. the name of the company conveniently couldn't be heard as the phone had a dead spot. She claims that I had a Mastercard credit card with a large balance from 2006 that is going to be in litigation for garnishment and or leans applied. I never had such a card nor did I let on that I did. I also reminded them that even if I did "which I don't" that NH has a 2 year statute of limitations from such depts. Please be careful, she had my last 4 of SSN and told me she spoke with my ex-wife Cxxxxxx to verify my location (like i was on the lam for ditching a credit card bill) first off my wife is Cxxxxxx not my ex wife. She did not speak with this woman or anyone else about me. All lies. I told her I don't acknowledge the credit card and don't bother me again she said do not call back on the number she called from and promptly hung up. Smells of Scam to me...

These people called me at work looking for my daughter for a debt she said she owed.  We had paid this debt back in full in 2012.  My daughter talked to a Mrs. Johnson and I talked to a Richard Barnes.  Both very rude people saying they were going to serve something on my daughter to some attorneys office and the charges were very severe.  They said we had 30 minutes to return their call and get this matter resolved.   They wanted us to pay right away but would not give us a paperwork or information backing up their claim.  This is such a scam and I hope these people get caught for what they are putting people through.  Don't ever give them any information or credit card or anything.  I am going to check what other places I can report them to.  Rudest people ever.  They yell at you and expect you to pay them.

Mrs. Johnson called my bldg/ where I live and my service coordinator called me and gave me h er number. Yes she was rude and wouldn't tell me anything so if  she calls me again or threathens me, I will contact my States Attorney General to complain.  This matter does not concern me and I will not become her debt collector.  Any further calls will be harassment., I truly believe this is a scam trying to extort money from unsuspecting citizens.

These people attempt to scare you by saying "were calling from a law group" Ohh whatever. Do NOT in the least be intimidated by these people. You have rights and a respectable law firm would not try to scare you by asking for an address so that tehy may serve you, OR tell you your about to be served at work.

DEMAND PROOF OF ANY DEBT THEY ARE CALLING ABOUT.  My opinion ALWAYS use a PO Box for ALL your mail.

These people called my parents and even my aunts house looking for me. I called them back and talked to Michelle Jones. She was extremely rude and not helpful at all. She said she had already verified the information with my ex wife and that I do owe the bill. I told her that I do not know what bill she was talking about. The only information she would give me was the last 4 digits of a credit card that I supposedly owe on.

Ok I called them back since they were calling me at work and she "Mrs Johnson' wouold send me proof of debt ket saying I'm just going to send you to Tarrant County for processing. I told her I have paid this in full and will not pay her w/o proof. She said that it was mailed to me and emailed to me and I asked her if she could email it again she said no. (Red flag)She told me I had 15 minutes to send proof and I told her I was at work and could send it when I got home- she became upset and raised her voice and talked over me. By law if I request proof of debt she has to send it any time they wont that is a red flag.

They say it is from a Payday loan that I was sure was already paid. Very nasty person stating his name was Richard Barnes. But there is not a Richard Barnes Law Firm that is associated with that number that I can find. I contacted an attorney and their office told me to tell them to send me the paperwork so my attorney can look at it. I have not received any paperwork from these people at this time. It is not legit until there is proof I have been served.
