Folks, there are laws regarding collection agencies and how phone calls are to be conducted.

If you receive a call, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RECORD THE CALL. Document the time and caller ID as well.  Use your smart phone, a simple recording device from a thrift store will do-put your phone on speaker and record. Depending on the State that you live in you MUST inform the caller that you are recording the conversation. The caller MUST identify who they are and their name. It makes no sense that regardless of the fact that you may or may not owe a debt, that anyone should be receiving harassing and unlawful phone calls. There is not a lawyer in America that wouldn't take your case for FREE. Often times, you'll get paid part of the settlement, just go through your phone book and find any lawyer. That easy.  Pay your bills but harassing phone calls are just as bad. Please record the calls and if you feel that you have received a disturbing phone call, please contact a lawyer ASAP.  It cost NOTHING to contact a lawyer.

You can also send a Cease and Desist letter (google for more info) stating that you no longer want to receive any more calls/contact. Just type up or write a letter to them stating that you no longer want any more phone calls/contact. Sign it and make sure you date the letter and send it certified. Your account may go to another collection agency that may be more reputable and nicer.

You have rights as well! Company uses numerous numbers. Hope this helps and good luck folks!

We've been receiving calls from this number for a few days now, and earlier today I called the number back to find out who it was because they never left any voicemail messages.  The man that answered said his name was Noel and at first refused to tell me what their company was and why they were calling.  He was the RUDEST and MOST UNPROFESSIONAL person and then hung up on me.  I called back to try to get some answers and find out why they've been calling us over and over.  Then, he finally told me that it was a collection agency and that they would only speak to my daughter because supposedly she gave them her number and so they would not speak to me.  My daughter is six years old, and obviously has not done anything or signed anything to be involved in any way whatsoever with a collection agency.  He then began to cuss at me over the phone and was calling me a liar.  Then, he hung up again.  I Google searched the number and found these posts, a whole page of complaints, another site of posts/comments about how this number is a scam, and also their website.  I called their number (678) 995-4242 to try to get some answers thinking that perhaps someone has stolen my daughter's identity and is using it without our knowledge.  I then spoke to a woman who was just as rude (who also hung up on me).  I am now convinced that this is just a scam.  Do NOT give these people any information and block the number!

I got a call from this number, 678.937.0911. My experience is quite different from the ones offered here, so I thought I should share it.

I didn't answer the phone when I didn't recognize the number. Before calling it back, I researched the number. I found it to be a debt-collecting company called Carter, Young, Inc. out of Atlanta.

A man named Noel Freeman answered the phone and identified himself as the negotiations manager for the company. He was very professional and advised me he was collecting for my debt incurred by my son on which my husband and I co-signed. (We won't be doing THAT again.)

Before we got into negotiations, I told him I was looking at this website where his company was being raked over the coals for being so rude, unprofessional and downright hateful in some instances. By this time, I had talked to him enough to know that my experience would be different and had already decided if it continued that way I would come here and leave this report.

As I tried to tell that to him, he continuously interrupted me to tell me about their Better Business Bureau rating of A+. I already knew that from my research. They'd had 25 complaints and had successfully closed all 25 with everyone happy.

I did have to interrupt him with a bit louder and more stern voice to please stop talking (he'd interrupted me when he started his long explanation about his company). When I finally had silence, I told him I understood that debt collectors are trained to interrupt and not stop talking no matter what. I advised him if he continued that with me, that I would end the call and leave a much different report here. He apologized and promised it wouldn't happen again. He kept his word.

He offered to cut the debt by more than 50 percent, and when I told him how tiny any monthly payment from my son would be, he was very understanding and said, "We understand people have hardships. Anything he can do is better than nothing at all."

I advised him that I needed to discuss the matter with my husband and son, but that I would call him back as soon as I had something to report to him. He also agreed, at my insistence, to see if he could lower still the full amount of the debt so as to make it realistic for my son and ensure the debt will get paid. He agreed. Whether that happens remains to be seen. I wished him a happy weekend, as he'd told me about his daughter in my state whom he was coming to see and we exchanged pleasantries before the call ended on a very positive note.

I have detailed this conversation bit by bit because I wanted to be sure my experience was fully documented, since all of the rest of these stories are so bad.

By the way, he did not deny the bad experiences others had, but expressed concerned they'd occurred. He said Maria no longer works for the company and he didn't know who Dorothy was.

Don't know this person

This woman is a bi*** with a capital B .... she is your typical scum of the earth bill collector.

She could have very easily said I'm sorry for the call I am a bill collector and I will remove you from my list and Have a nice day .... that would have been great but she chose to hang up on me so I called her back 7 or 8 times and told her what I thought of her as a person and a bill collector. EWver noticed how bill collectors don't like getting tracked down either ... LOL.

This lady called my number and I recalled her back. She was very rude and critized me for being a stay at home mom and my husband being in the military. she tried to get our cc# over the phone and I told her just send a bill to our house and she ended the call by saying they she would reccomend my husband be sued. We had people move into our apartment when we moved on post and our landlord never called saying they wheren't paying rent. So now my husband is getting a lawyer bc she called him yelling at him and put the military down so yeah we are not very happy. Glad to see others having problems with the same Maria Gill.

It seems she is upto something.  Thanks folks for posting this.  Now, I know I need not return her call.  She is not genuine.

Call received on Cell Phone AFTER calling my home number & left same message only saying "Hi, this is Maria. You need to call me at this number." No additional information what-so-ever.  Apparently, it is going to be a repeat thing based on what I am reading from others having been called by this same number.  I am on the 'do not call list' but this does not seem to deter people.  My cell phone is for emergency use only and is not a number I ever give out.  Please stop the calls. Also, my home number is an unlisted number that I pay additional charges for each month to keep it as such.  These calls violate my privacy & intrude into my life and that of my family. My bills are paid, I keep my appointments, I have no reason for anyone to call me without invitation other than family.

This woman named "maria" calls my cell numbers.  Refuses to answer any questions asked her but feels she has to right to question us.  when you call the number back, she hangs up

This number has been calling my phone probably 2-3 times a week for about a month and I never answered.  The lady left a couple messages saying, "Hi Dorothy, this is so and so with a debt collector and you need to call back".  I am not Dorothy, nor do I know a Dorothy!  I saw the number calling my phone this morning and I decided to answer to let them know that they have the wrong number and the lady was VERY rude saying that she spoke to Dorothy on this number and I asked how long ago b/c I had only had this cell number since Jan. 09. and she said ok I'll take you off the list and hung up!

same here i saw number several times on my phone and also a recorded msg on my voice mail for someone not here told me hit one if i wasnt that person so i did. person called this mornin i missed call so i called back cuz didnt recognize number a lady answered and i asked who it was she hung up so i called right back and she asked if i was this other person and i told her no she hung up again so i call back again and she said she removed me from her list and hung up again. i looked up in reverse white pages and she is unlisted but yes she is very rude

This agency called in regards to a collection upon a cosign of an apartment for someone else.
When I tried to inform her that it was a wrong number she quickly hung up. I tried calling back at the above mentioned number that appeared on my cell's caller ID, it being a collection's call I wanted my number to be taken off their list since I am not the person they are wanting to reach.
The moment I called back the same woman picked up the phone and immediately answered, "If it was the wrong number why are you calling back?" and hung up without another word.
