Same as others report:  Recorded message from "John Daniels" allegedly from "North American Bank Card" promising us the moon and the stars if we try out their no contract, free terminal, etc., etc. credit card processing - including an offer to give us $500 if they can't do better than our current rates.  If these so-called companies all spoke the truth, we wouldn't be paying anything for credit card processing at all.  (BTW, I never tell them what our current rates are.  I tell them, "If you think you can beat it, give me a number.  You shouldn't need to know what our rate is if, as you claim, you already have the best rates around."  The one guy who went along with this wasn't lower.  So much for their bluster.)  I almost have to wonder if this isn't a way to tap into the credit card processing flow so they can obtain people's credit card information.  Is that possible?  It just seems odd that there are so many credit card processing companies out there, some of whom seem a little TOO eager to do business.

The do not call list does nothing.  I simply don't answer my phone anymore.

you have way too much spare time if you waste so much of it playing with these callers and writing long descriptions of it.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

695-304-3077, not a legitimate US area code, caller ID spoofing a mexican area code. Prerecorded message for merchant card services. Can't file a complaint when the DNC complaint form doesn't recognize the phone number as a legitimate US area code and refuses the complaint form. Don't waste any time with this one, just read here and ignore.

Sorry, but "live" or "dead" does not seem to make much difference. If the number rings through it is live, elsewise the telco will return a "no-such-number type signal."  I have good call blocking for a repeat caller, but block/answer/no answer/ voice mail/dead air. They keep coming like the Energizer bunny.

Telemarketer calling cell phones to get you to try a machine. They are also using the ploy to get you to press 2 to be removed from their data base. Doing that only tells them that you have a live number. Report them to the National Do Not Call number 888-382-1222.

All I got was the number or code you dialed was incorrect. Not sure who this is

I DID NOT ANSWER, BUT LOOKED UP EVERYWHERE. and FOUND this  IN MR NUMBER: "NO NAME FOUND" OFFERING MORTGAGE" .

received a call from this number.  Did not answer in time. Can't seem to trace where this number came from.  One search said it was not in the U.S.  Probably a solicitor or something similar.
