Got my first call from this outfit last night. Only understandable portion was National Diabetic Association. At first I thought it might be a legitimate survey. After listing far too long to a woman I could not understand, I caught she was offering me a free diabetic meter upgrade. This triggered SCAM in my mind. Finally I simply said I cannot understand anything you are saying. She then said she was putting her supervisor on the line who was no more understandable. All they kept saying was no worry, Medicare and Supplement will pay all costs. Finally I said not interested and hung up.
If Liberty Medical is behind this I hope somebody can hang them to the wall. Their saturation TV ads drive me nuts. Have noticed several more outfits of same type now showing up on TV. Must be a sign of our aging population.

At least once a day, someone claiming to be from the National Diabetes Association calls me. Each time I tell them I am not interested and ask them to take my number off of their calling list, to no avail.
I think they are purposely trying to make me dislike people with thick foreign accents.

I get "Unknown Name" from this number, they've called 3 times today already...
| who are you now (debt collectors, etc) 2011-06-06 20:54:11 Unknown |
isn't this a tpca-or tcpa- violation? Anyone-class action? Anyone know who's the caller, and how to route them to the ftc, attorney generals who'll do something, fbi, justice department, etc.

I just got a call from 701-217-1195 named "important call" on my Caller ID. This is in my bucket of "harassing phone calls" so I just unplug the base unit which takes messages and let the caller give up. Right now I haven't looked up where this Area Code is. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who's gotten this call. I've got my own "Do Not Answer" list.

This # is showing up repeatedly on my caller ID with the name "important call". It does get your attn, but my msg machine is functioning fine and if it is so important they should leave a msg.but don't, I was pretty sure it was a scam so I thought I would check them out. Glad you guys have put your comments here, too.

Have been seeing in caller ID "Important Call" but the number keeps changing, this was the latest "important call". If it was that important, they should leave a message?

I just got a call from this number identified on my caller ID as Kennare, ND. I should not have anyone calling me from up there and they do not leave messages. I received a call earlier in the day from 7016255007 indentified as LOAN MOD DEPT so these two may be associated phone bank.

Ive researced what to do leagally about this annoying phone call I keep getting day after day after day, and there isnt even anyone there when I answer, then they hang up. Im so sick and tired of this. So, in my research I have learned, You have to get an address, to this number, you have to send a certified letter requesting they do not call your number any longer. Once you have proof they have recieved your letter, and they do call you again, you then have all you need to file a law suit against the company. I am now in search of whom this is. and I will post the address and name for you just as soon as I have it.. stay tuned..

Sick and tired of the constant phone calls from this number. I am also on the do not call list.

The calls I keep continuously getting (like 2 0r 3 a day) from Unknown name, Unknown Number, or 25000 are from diabetic supply companies. When I ask where they got my name and number they try to give the bs "from medicare". Not!!! Whomever gave these people my number are in violation of the DTC and the HIPPA act. My medical information is PRIVATE. I will keep demanding to know where they got their information. They always just hang up. Very intrusive b****eads!

Recurrent calls from a masking number 800-000-0000 over weeks. As it is obviously not a real number i usually don't answer. Yesterday I picked up and a woman said she was from the National Diabetic (mumbled word) and she asked for me by name and wanted to follow up on what she claimed was a report of a diabetic in the household. I said that was inappropriate and i did not want any more calls from them. I got another one again today, same schpiel, and I again said I want no more calls.
Faking the idea that there is a diabetic in the household clearly targets vulnerable confused people who might actually be diabetic. Disgusting. So I am reporting it here, as it seems to be the same operation that used the 701 number as recently as December.

Received call from this number late morning, then an "out of area" call a bit later, followed by a "private caller" a few minutes later. They actually had the audacity to put "IMPORTANT CALL" as the caller ID

I pretended to be the person they asked for to gather information. Telling them not to call back was not working after about 5 calls today. They claim to be the National Diabetic Association and are trying to sell a medical device. After pretending to be interested to gather information, I told them at the end of the call that I was reporting them to the FCC. I did call the 800 number for Liberty Medical, and they claim to have no idea.

Called 12-6-2010 @ 16:22 and 12-7-2010 @ 14:58, not gonna answer!

Just got our first call from this number, during dinner. They hung up on the answering machine. Sounds like we should be expecting a lot more calls.
And they have the nerve to use "IMPORTANT CALL" as caller-ID info.
Thank you to our politicians, FTC, and FCC for allowing this crap to go on.

I have no idea who these fools are but we are on the National DNC list + the WI DNC List. These are annoying and I really want them to STOP!!! I'm of the opinion that we should be able to Opt IN instead of OUT of these kind of calls.

I got a call on my land phone today. Couldn't understand much of what she said so I asked her to spell who she was working for. All I could understand was National something and then G.I.C. - whatever that is. I kept saying I can't understand anything she was saying and finally she hung up.

These morons calling from 701-217-1195 are Liberty Medical ( http://www.libertymedical.com ), the diabetes mail order outfit that uses Wilford Brimley, the elderly actor, in their television commercials.
The calls are outsourced to a foreign country (the Philippines) in an attempt to circumvent US federal and individual state Do Not Call laws.
The (wo)man that calls says "National Diabetic Association," or similar, in a heavily accented, hard to understand voice.
A Google for "National Diabetic Association," "National Diabetics Association" and "National Diabetes Association" *ALL* return hits to the Liberty Medical web site!
Liberty Medical's toll-free number is 1-800-705-5797. Let them know directly how you feel about their violations and spoofed CID (displaying "IMPORTANT CALL" instead of Liberty Medical), along with filing complaints with national and state Do Not Call lists and the FTC.
Or if you're close enough to stop by, or prefer to write them in an attempt to get them to admit something useful as evidence in writing, here is their address:
Liberty Medical Supply
10400 South Federal Highway
Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952
I received two unsolicited calls from these morons on December 06, 2010 @ 2:07PM and 4:20PM CST. Same woman on both calls and asked for my step-father, by name, both times. My step-father and I are both diabetic, but have NEVER contacted Liberty Medical, or anyone else. All our diabetic needs are taken care of locally and have been for years.
On first call told her she was in violation of federal Do Not Call list laws illegally spoofing Caller ID information - she promptly hung up.
On second call told her she had already called here earlier today, to immediately place this number on their do not call list and to stop the harassment or else.
Upon calling the 701-217-1195 number back there is no identifiable information given, only the choice to press "1" to be removed from their preferred caller list and placed on their do not call list.
And just to be complete, the 701-201 area code and exchange show to be for Spencer, North Dakota - which is just 2 miles outside of Bismarck.
I hope some of the information I have provided will be of some use to others...

The FTC does *NOT* act on individual complaints.

We received a call from this number @ 5:47PM CT and the callerid shows "Important Call". Woman caller had thick accent as others described. She asked for me and when my family member was checking to see if I was available, she hung up.
Perhaps it was "Peggy" from the Discover card commercial and the location shown is in these videos is in Spencer, ND

If these people are calling about diabetics supplies and you have never heard of them, it is illegal for them to contact you unless they have your written permission or they have supplied you with some materiel or service before. Take down all the information you can and then call the Office of the Inspector General Fraud Hot-line in your state or your local police department. NEVER give them your personal information, like insurance or Medicare number even if they tell you the supplies will be free.
