They have called over and over again this morning. The message is a female voice that say "I'm sorry". The calls are spaced a few minutes apart. It is clearly just harassing.

Spoofing/Scam/Junk Call. Had caller ID as 877-404-5778 but real number in my call log was 701-217-1659.

Received one call and pressed "2" to be removed. Received another the following day and got through to a manager named Victor. Essentially, they are trying to cash in on people in over their heads with credit card debt by closing your account and taking on the debt. They were quite misleading and attempted to pass themselves off as representatives for my credit card companies. Pretty ridiculous, I hate bottom feeders.

This number appeared on my prepaid cell phone as a missed call. In the past, I have read that it is indeed scammers, supposedly from Africa (maybe the same ones who email posters on Craig's List). This is why it doesn't matter if you're on the "do not call" list. They're illegal and could care less about the list. This I learned from Verizon when I called to complain about repeated calls from them. But here's what I do now to help me with my frustration and anger: I have a police whistle by my phone and whether I answer the call or return the call and dial the number for a person, I wait until a live person answers and blast the whistle several times. I have to say, the calls have greatly decreased and I haven't had one on my land line for months. If all the solicitors start calling my cell phone, I may give it up. The good thing is I don't keep it on so it only costs me if I return the call, and that I can avoid. Thanks for posting here. The WWW is a wonderful thing for safeguarding ourselves against those who would rob us one way or another.

Got a call from 701-217-1659, and when I pressed 1 to got forwarded to a person with a heavy accent, and when I asked them how they got my number, they said it is public record, and they hung up. This number is from Western Wireless and is a cell number. Would be very weary as they are a scam. They won't identify what company they were from other than a debt consolidation company. Do not give them your credit card numbers. This should be illegal

Got 2 calls from them in the past week on Skype. The first, they left a message stating that congress passed a bill to help with debt, blah, blah, blah. The second, they didn't leave anything. Fortunately, I can block them so it's no big deal.

Got a few calls from these people. Our local police department says they are not legit and that they are just fishing for info so they can scam you. I'm on the Do Not Call List, but apparently they don't care.

Ha, I don't even have a phone! I have a texting app on my IPod and it still alerts me when people try to call, I just can't answer them. LOL must be a crappy telemarketing company to call someone who doesn't even have a phone! Apparently it is a scam, so I will not bother calling back, I just wish they'd stop calling.

I got a weird call from sears.com yesterday who asked me some security questions and made me feel very uncomfortable answering them. Today I go this weird phone call 701-217-1659. Glad that I searched the number online first before answering the call. It sounds like a scam.

I keep getting calls from this number with a pre-recorded message. It's about credit card payments. I don't have a credit card, but that didn't stop them from calling at 8:20 and again at 9:20 this morning!

I got a call from this number on my brand new cell phone. I answered it and a recorded message told me that they were from my credit card company and that there was no problem with my account, but if I wanted to lower my interest rate I should press 1, or press 4 (I think) to be taken off their call list. Pressed 4 and was immediately disconnected.
Since this number is brand new I'm guessing that they just auto dial numbers in numeric order, hoping to reach a sucker.

I just received this call. I work for a large financial institution and I can promise you that any large financial institution does not use a 3rd party for their card member services. These are fishing phone calls trying to get people to volunteer their bank/credit card information. Please people for your own good do not disclose your info to these people. If your bank or credit card issuer were to be calling you in regards to an account or credit card they would already have your account information in front of them and would not need you to provide it to them. The only time you disclose that info is if you call them cause well then obviously you know who you are speaking to.

I am on the do not call list! I do not owe any bills!
| mkm 2010-11-17 18:49:26 Unknown |
Scam call recorded message fishing for personal information hidden behind an offer to lower your interest rate. Does not identify who is behind this. Refers to credit card, but does not identify which one that might be... Definitely a scam. Should be shut down / prosecuted.
