Got a call from 701-264-5957, the caller ID only said Dickinson ND, and when I answered it was a recording about credit card services. There was no way to remove my number from their call list. Annoying

One has to wonder why they would waste their time making these calls. Even sales companies for that matter.  The person on the receiving end is most likely not in favor of an anonymous call in the first place.  I've heard of people calling back and just leaving the phone off the hook for awhile. They say to be sure to insert *67 before dialing the number so as to make your phone anonymous calling them back.  If enough people would do this, it would be like all the unwanted mail being returned to the initial sender.  They don't like getting their flyers and snail mail sent back to them, especially when they have a postage paid stamp on their return envelopes.  Get enough people to call back and they'll be swamped with phone calls and the fun for them should cease.  Just a thought.

It is the Lower interest rate SCAM again.  When I got the live person, I just kept shouting YES until they hung up.  Nothing will stop these people!  If you don't answer they keep calling.

The current flood of junk callers operating since 2009 is from criminals hiding behind spoofed VOIP accounts who never liked obeying the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) in the first place. That's the law the DNC helps enforce. The list itself *IS A LIST* downloaded *for a fee* by honest businesses, not a defense shield and not a call blocker.

What you "found out" about expiration "every five years" is outdated information repeated on many old web pages. The fact is that the DNC program was such an early popular success that registrations were all made permanent just as the first batch neared expiration in Spring 2008.

If we all fail to report TSR violations, it will be assumed that we don't have a problem with runaway illegal sales calls in America. What you permit you also encourage. Because not everyone has given up reporting to the FTC and attorneys general, several credit reprice scammers have been heavily fined and a few are in prison besides.

Canned female voice, dreadful echo as if recorded via speakerphone. As is often the case with suspect callers, this one did not waiting for a greeting, so we have only the tail end of the pitch. Sounds like another credit card reprice scam. Stupidly prompts for keypresses, tries to create false urgency

I've my own partial transcript from a call on 10 May at 13:25 Eastern. The woman sounds entirely too bubbly and ends every other sentence in that irritating vocal inflection making it sound like a question. Those I've indicated with (--?)

"... current credit card account --? It's urgent we speak to you regarding this matter before your file is closed. Press nine now to speak with a representative --? [01 second beat, inhale] To no longer receive this offer, please press the number three button now. Thank you, and have a wonderful day."

We cannot assume that the same scam company has revived a phone number, which apparently went dormant two years ago after a couple months of similar misuse. This is an easy fraud game to play, attracting anyone who can round up cheap labor and hide behind spoofed VOIP accounts.

I received the identical message you received at 12:10 pm, EST, Monday, May 13. Did not answer but blocked number as soon as received. I have been on the DO NOT CALL list  for years & redid couple years ago when found out you had to do every 5 years best I can remember now. WHAT GOOD IS IT ANYMORE? I guess the scammers stopped using this number back in 2011 and have picked it up again.  Yay.  We all need to report them to www.donotcall.gov.

Received a call but got disconnected.  When I called back, got a message saying thank you for calling back, and that I could opt out of receiving calls, but it would take 72 hous to process the request.  It was never clear what the call was for.

Just got a call from them.  They said Hi and the line went dead moments later.

We have received the exact same call several times on all of our unlisted numbers (home, private lines, and several cell phones).  It's always the same: a long pause followed by a male voice saying "oh, hi" and then disconnection.  My guess is that a computer is being used (possibly in another country) to robot-dial every possible phone number in the United States in order to make a list of working numbers that are actually answered.  I expect the scam calls will start coming in after this list is complete (and possibly sold to scammers).

I got nowhere trying to get their info.  They refused to give me their website or address.  They would only tell me the were a nonprofit and therefore could call me as much as they wanted.  I blocked my number and called back and gave a fake name, address, and phone #.  I let them go thru their spiel and they finally told me they were a referral center for AAA Cooke County Consolidation located in Chicago, IL.  He also said that AAA CCC had an A+ rating with the BBB (which I confirmed online) and that they had received an award for no complaints.  Not anymore!

Recorded message from "A company affiliated with Google's local search directory", and they wanted to ensure that my company's information was "not deleted" form Google's search.   Clearly spam.

Missed a call from 1(701)625-5916 voice mail started half way though saying I was only making the minimum payment and could lower my totally amount.... I DON'T HAVE ANY CREDIT CARDS she gave me the number (866)553-1917 to call back... to say the least not calling them back.

I googled both numbers.. They only come up with sites like this reporting the numbers

I received a voicemail on my work phone from the 701# - the message was left by "Ashley" saying we (she did not say my name) had spoken last week about possibly lowering my credit card interest rates.  She left me a # to call back 866-553-1917, which I did.  Another woman answered, and I said there was a message left on my work phone, but it never said who the message was intended for.  The lady apologized & said that Ashley should not have called a work #.  She asked for the # that was called, and that she would have it blocked.

What I want to know is how they got my cell # to begin with. I haven't handed that out to anyone outside immediate family, and only three of them.

few apps i know that ask for those accesses: FreeMusicDownloader, FlashLightFull, WordsWithFriends, UnblockMeFree, and JewelsFree. MOSTLY GOOGLE BASED APPS THAT ARE FREE.

Did the research, YOU NEED TO READ THIS POST, yes i have a GalaxyS and one of my apps just asked for an update on my FLASHLIGHT APP and my GPS app. under agreements that you have to click ok for the update to follow thru was to allow access to my sms, phone calls, internet access full, and contact info. i unistalled both app. I HIGHLY SUGGEST TO EVERYONE RECIEVING THESE CALLS TO BE CAUTION OF THE APPS YOU DOWNLOAD AND THE ACCESS THEY WANT YOU TO AGREE TO BEFORE INSTALLIN OR UPDATING.  also those of you who do not have Smartphones... you are getting these calls bc someone you know and has your number has a app that they agreed to share their contact info. HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP.
