Same story, I posted on Craigslist today for my lost cat. I Never put my phone number on ads but well... if it helps bring my cat back... I smelled a scam from the beginning. The guy kept saying he couldn't hear me and to talk louder,  I ended up yelling into the phone then hung up on him. He called me right back so again I asked him how he found out my cat was missing he started to prattle about social network and a 70% success rate. I interrupted him and asked how much money he wanted. Same thing,  non profit but a nominal fee of $80. I didn't let him get any farther but told him he should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of people who only want their animals back and not to call me again and hung up.

A wee bit of hyperbole, there, huh!  .."they have 74 office in all over the nation and they have a team of 14000 professionals.."  Wow - that many employees!  <sarcasm>  Guess people are becoming more educated about this scam and it's cutting into your profits!

Good grief, yet another shill!
All these posts, complaining that the caller &/or company was a scam ... now a "satisfied customer" appears, as if by magic, on a site that is dedicated to listing problematic phone numbers.

I got this call today. Weird because I posted that I had FOUND a dog, not LOST one. If they were truly concerned and a legit business, wouldn't they have taken the time to actually read?

Received a call from a man with a heavy accent stating that they saw I had lost my cat recently. Initially I had thought our vet had given them information since we had to put 1 of our cats to sleep due to cancer and it this call had something to do with the cremation or additional memorial type products. I quickly remembered that we had also moved and received a new home telephone number a mere 2 weeks ago and we haven't given this number to anyone.

I too just received a call from 702 224-2331    I wasn't able to get the phone to ring when I called back.  I sent a text which I got a response saying the number was a landline.    Really... someone in the Las Vegas, NV area found my lost dogs who escaped from my yard in Georgia!?!      Strong foreign speaking accent on the voice message.        I too posted on Craigslist...as well as other sights.

I got a phone call yesterday from 702-224-2331 to ask if I had found my dog. I asked if he had my dog or knew where he was.  He said no -but- and he started telling me about a Pet Rescue and it costing $70.00 but I would get it or part of it back.  I had a hard time understaning him, and felt sure from what I did understand that this was a scam for money, especially with him being in Las Vegas and being so persistant. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. I hope I don't have to change my phone no. because of this.  I had just posted info. about my dog on craigslist the day before but this time included a reward amount.  I wonder if that is what triggered this phone call. I had not gotten a call from a previous ad I had submitted on craigslist.   BEWARE!!

Same number called me. Answered it thinking it was my washer scheduled for delivery today and a foreign man started telling me about his non profit pet rescue group. I struggled to understand him and kept questioning where he got my number, which he kept avoiding. For $70 they would contact local orgs, vets, etc to find my lost dog and it would be refunded she was never found. I said no thanks, we're doing the same thing ourselves from a local non profit, dogs finding dogs. I also questioned how someone out of Las Vegas was going to find my dog in MD. Of course, he suddenly pretended to not understand me. I said no thanks, and I hung up. Then googled that number and here I am. Disgusting what they're trying to pull on those in auch a vulnerable situation. Hope they are caught.

Just received a call from a foreign man from the 702 224 2331about being part of a pet rescue group that would help me find my lost dog. I asked numerous times where he got my number and he wouldn't tell me. Just continued wih his spiel on how he was going to contact local orgs, vets, etc until they found my dog. First plan $70 and if dog not found, it would be refunded. I said no thanks, we've been doing the same thing ourselves and working with a local dog tracker. I said how are you going to help me all the way in Las Vegas, and he acted as if he couldn't hear me. I said no thanks, we'll stick to our current search methods and hung up on him.

I just got a called earlier today about my cat who has been missing since last summer. I just now was able to figure out craigslist.I also didn't answer because at first and was an unavaliable number. Then it was this number. They said "I'm a still looking for my missing cat?"Really thats sick. He is indoor outdoor and he also came back. One day before the big ligtning storm we had during the summer he never came back. I feel bad enough for letting him out,but to pray on people like that...Thats just sick...

This is definitely a scam preying on what they hope will be vulnerable people who have lost pets and listed them on Craigslist.  I am certain that is where they got my number.  There are reputable Pet Rescue services out there but they don't solicit clients by marketing calls.  Please, research anyone you are thinking about using and don't let these unscrupous companies make your pain even worse.

Just because a "business" has a webpage doesn't make it legitimate.  There are numerous complaints about this sort of scam - you pay your money upfront and guess what?  They don't find your pet and you don't get a refund.  It's just another sick scam - one that preys on those who have lost their pets.

My wife answered the phone. She has no talent for accents so despite other callers stating "clear Indian accent" I can only relate she said the caller had foreign accent-but he will rescue out lost cat on craig's List for a fee.  It's unknown if he wanted the fee up front before making any effort to find the feline but after you send the money for a "fee" how do you recover if nothing is done? you can't. If they have a website then you could go to it and know it's legit. Too many unanswered conditions-my guess-Kitty Scam. There's people who are willig to pay almost anyhting to get the pooch/kitty family member back but most of recoveries are just pure luck-and animals are resilient creatures and manage Ok for long periods sometimes. Our feral cat that ran away while at the Animal Hospital after a nails clip, was being put back in the car We have had a snow storm but she was found in the wild in the first place-knows how to forage and tend to business. We have put out posters, cat food that's probably drawn every raccoon in the area and listed her on Craigslist.and SPCA.

Haha the guy just called me not even 10 minutes ago, left a VM asking if I was still looking for my cats.. I won't answer now that I've read on here it's a scam., plus he is in a state thousands of miles away. Doubt our 2 cats walked that far in 4 days...

They're definitely preying off people who are posting lost animal ads on Craigslist.  I posted ads on Craigslist for my cat on 02/04/2014 and 02/05/2014.  Fortunately, I received their call AFTER I'd already gotten my cat back.  I used to live in Las Vegas and changed my phone number and area code and was curious about who had "found" me several states away.  Glad for everyone else's input on this site.

Same story as everyone else. I posted a lost pet on Craigslist yesterday. Started with the calls today. I didn't answer the call as I was sitting at my computer and googled the number as it was ringing and found this page.

I realized this was a scam when they admitted they did not find our cat but tried to sell me a service to find the cat.  Another clue was 'Kevin' sounded Indian, and was reading from a script and really couldn't answer my pointed questions but kept referring me to a pet rescue website. Now they call back everyday, I guess so Kevin can get his daily call quota in. Really people, get a life what you do for a living is sick.

I received a suspicious call from "Unknown" today.   The man with an accent said he was part of a 'Pet Rescue Team' which was a free service from a 'govt agency'.   I had posted my lost dogs on craigslist and this is where they got my number.  I told him I was busy and asked for his number to call back and he gave me this one:  702-224-2331.   Looked it up and it is from Las Vegas, NV

I also received a call from this man with a clear Indian accent.  He would not tell me where he had acquired my number, but our lost dog was posted on Craigslist and other sites. For $70.00 the "pet rescue volunteers" will look for my dog, for $130.00 he will give me a money-back guarantee. I asked why the fee if they were staffed by volunteers. He replied, "the cost of the website and printing the flyers".  He said they would cover a 50 mile radius of our home. I told him I already had posted 150 flyers- he said they would print "thousands". I asked where his office was.  He said we have offices in 74 cities around the nation (never giving me an exact location)  His number was "withheld" on my screen and I got this 702-224-2331 number when I asked how to call him back.        stedward- did you get your cat or your refund within four days?

I received a call from a New York number, but they gave me the 702-224-2331 number to call back. Said they would find my lost cat. He had a clear Indian accent. He told me to look up his website "The Pet Rescue" and told me they were based out of Las Vegas. It all looks very impressive on the webpage, but I have a hard time believing this is not a scam. Oh, he also told me this was a non-profit company and they would only charge me a nominal fee of $135. I got the money back guarantee too if they didn't find my cat in 4 days.

I have been getting calls from this "Pet Rescue Team" and "Pet Rescue Center" for months. I am on the national "do not call" list and have an unlisted number as well but these Indian scammers keep calling me all the time. They apparently got my number from my lost cat ad on Craigslist. They have also used another phone number previously which, when I searched online, turned up an agency in India which advertises numerous business services including debt collection and telemarketing. I never answer their calls and never call back. After finding this page of similar stories about these scammers I will now notify the phone company. I suggest you do the same.

I had a similar call. The caller ID did NOT match the number that they said to call back. Trying to call back the original number says that it's a Skype number. "Sean" wanted to charge me $110 for their services and if my dog wasn't returned in four days that I'd get a full refund. What I should have said was that if they found me dog in four days I'd pay them double and they wouldn't have to worry about refunding my money. I guess I can always call them back and yank their chain. Apparently they troll the legit online pet finding services like findtoto.com and lostmydoggie.com to get your phone number and name. It just smelled from word one. Now I'm also getting e-mails for alarm systems.
