The reason I answered this call is because I miss-read the area code, thinking it might be family from Alberta.  The company called DOC - wanted to consolidate debt and reduce mortgage - ha, ha!  Scammers!!!!

Received a call from Jeff Ortiz and said he was from the Securities and Exchange Commission.  He told me I won $450,000 in a drawing done by Las Vegas Network Company.  I do not remember entering a drawing but he said when I used my visa from one of their sponsors like Walmart or entering a Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes, my name was entered.  In order for me to claim my prize, I have to call HCC for Houston Casualty Company to arrange the delivery of my prize to a bank of my choice.  He gave me this number to call 1-800-308-6583 and a Federal Claim number.  If I have questions, I can call him back at 702-425-6226.  I immediately called the 800 number and Rick Morgan answered and congratulated me and I gave him the Federal Claim number.  Brinks supposedly will be delivering my prize since it is very valuable at the bank I selected.   I will be receiving 4 items which are as follows:

Item 1 - a cashier's check for $150,000
Item 2 - $300,000 in cash (LOL, why in cash when we're now in the 21st century where transactions are done online)
Item 3 - Federal Tax Exemption form for $43,000 supposedly for the tax the company paid on my behalf
Item 4 - Cashier's check for $1,000 as refund for the insurance fee to deliver the prize

Here's the catch, I have to pay $1,000 and wire transfer it as soon as possible to a TD bank account under Patricia E. Miller in New Jersey to process the delivery of my prize the following day.

I didn't believe anymore what I was told so I checked the internet to feed my curiosity.  I found out, SEC does not have a branch in Las Vegas, 702-425-6226 is not in service (but then Rick Morgan called me back and gave me 702 425 6251 to contact Jeff Ortiz), there is no Jeff Ortiz with SEC, HCC does not have an 800 number on their website and Las Vegas Network Company cannot be found online.

Bottom line, it was a scam to lure me into sending $1,000 for a bogus $450,000 prize.

Had a voicemail from Ortiz at SEC to call him back at 702-425-6226 regarding a "high value package" in my name.  Called back and the number was changed or no longer in service.

Recieved a call from Gordon Holly w/ the Federal Gaming & Securities stating I've won $450,000. Gave me some information (generic), but would not give me the address of the Federal building and his supervisors name due to security reasons.  The number he called from was 202-609-7397. He also referred to himself as a Senior Legal Officer of the Federal Gaming commission.

Just received the exact same phone call as Tim and Phil above.  Sounded important enough as it was a "senior legal officer at the federal gaming board".  I will call back from a different land line and see what he says.
