OK, just got a call from this number, though it was from an individual who said he was new to Portland, had seen our business (we rent shop space) on CraigsList, was looking for work space, and had a "masterpiece" to work on involving something to do with Hitler. He threw in that some people might be made uncomfortable by this project, a statement with which I gently agreed. He then said he was sick of talking to me and promptly hung up.
This seems much at variance with the other reports for 702-454-0505, doesn't it?
Any thoughts?

If you have posted free ad on google/yellowbook on the web you are going to get a bunch of this crap. It is really annoying!!

I'm encountering the same issue. The last time I actually got someone on the phone they were not very professional, abrupt, unwilling to listen or let me get a word in. They pretty much confirmed my listing info and made it sound like if I did not buy into "premium" service that my business would cease to be.
Frankly if this is a caliber of employee that YP is using to get more business I'm terribly reluctant to have anything to do with them. There is a lot be be said for how a company's sales and customer service staff treats its potential and existing clients.

Just got a 2nd call from these yahoos (they called yesterday too), this one was from Betsy Bell. I asked her what she was calling about and she says "the internet."
I said, "that's a really broad topic, what specifically about 'the internet'?" Then she launched into her spiel and then I hung up.

You harass people by calling them, or did you know? I happen to be on the national do not call registry, but I'm sure you are only using the list of numbers so that you can call them. Get a real job and stop pestering people!

I got a call from Betsy Bell at this number at 9:00 a.m. on a Wednesday, saying that she would like to do business with me. Of course, I got excited, because I have just started a new business - but I haven't started advertising yet. She gave me a callback number of 702-852-4118 (but she called from 702-852-4118), saying it was her "work number, so don't be alarmed if you get my voicemail". I called her back anyway to find out how she got my number (I paid $10/yr. to keep my info off the Whois registry.) but got her voicemail. Of course, she called back with 5 minutes. Turns out she was calling about a previous business I had, where I did not pay the $10/yr. and was inundated with phone calls from the Las Vegas area as well as terrific amounts of spam in my inbox. Trust me - if you have a website, you want to fork over an extra $10 a year. It keeps your name, address, phone number, and email out of the hands of spammers and telemarketers!!

I do not bother answering out of area calls....ever.

Some lady from Yellowpages called from 702-454-0505 and pumped me for information about one of my businesses. I don't usually take such calls, but I was friendly and supplied it. As soon as she found out most of our customers weren't in the local area, she hung up, without so much as a goodbye.
Presumably as soon as she found out she wouldn't be selling me any yellowpages phone book ads she simply hung up. Rude telemarketers are one reason why the Yellowpages are obsolete I guess. The most efficient sales practices certainly won't solve this problem, though new management of their telemarketing services might.

I answered and a woman said "do you want more customers". I said "excuse me". Then the woman asked again if I wanted more customers.
I just sat there because she was so monotone sounding, then she hung up.

Got a call to our marketing department today, forgot the womans name but she sounded like she smokes a least 3 packs a day. She was really rude, unprofessional, and condescending. We DID just fill out our AT&T listing, and at the end of every sentence she kept saying " I dont know if you knew that" in possibly the rudest tone ever. Yes, you have reached the marketing department....we are well aware of how to update our listing. There was no need for her to be snide and keep repeating "well, I dont think you knew that".
I ended the call, we know what we are doing and are not interested in their really rude upselling techniques. Next time they call they will be sent to voicemail, I almost want to take our listings down.

I anticipated getting a lot of these types of calls when I posted the "free" online business listings to get my name "out there".
For those of you in Oregon, the oregonlive.com site has a free business listing service. When I do a search using that one I come up in a good place. I haven't been able to find my business in ANY of the other five I've listed my business with and have gotten several calls to upgrade. FYI: I was told by a rep of one of these online listings that you WILL NOT show up in ANY search engine unless you pay for the extra services. These are scams so they can sell you info.
Maybe I should call these folks back and give them a sales pitch! I run a tour company and I do corporate events! ha!

Nice business tactics AT&T Advertising Solutions!! You call me asking for the name of our marketing person and when I ask you for your name - you immediatly hang up on me! Real Nice - NOT the kind of company I want to spend my marketing dollars with.

they are calling right now, number on caller Id as "out of area". I do have a small business and would consider re-listing with yellow pages if they'd only be up front about it. Must be some automated machine.

Got a call from a young man saying was from "at&t" (not at&t advertisting). He said he read my ad on craigslist and wanted to know if I "could take on any more business in 2012." Got excited for a minute thinking I might land a commercial cleaning contract, but I'm glad I googled the number before I called back.

Cold call telemarketers they call thousands of businesses every day! why don't they have thier company name in caller ID are they ashamed of what they do???? my guess they are
YP 2011-06-06 20:54:21 Unknown
dave you are an idiot. nobody can bill you for saying yes. You have to agree to the terms and go through a 2 minute verification to sign up.
john c 2011-06-06 20:54:21 Unknown
yep, no message, just a bunch of creepy breathing.
Dave from Boston 2011-06-06 20:54:21 Unknown
On line internet yellow pages... If you answer this call do not say the word yes. These sort of calls sometimes get recorded and than they have another department call you when you don't pay the bill they send you and play back you saying the word yes! Although I can't be sure, this is the same scam, just always be careful not to ever say the word "yes" on a phone conversation with some one you don't know, who wants to sell you something or give you a free trial !!!!

I received a call from 702-454-0505 a man named Ryan with the department of Advertising Solutions from ATT. He was very odd and was fishing for information. Unfortunately he struck out with me as I felt odd about the call so asked him for contact information. He gave me the number 877-972-4378 which is what brought me to here. I called ATT with my own contact number and they knew nothing of either his name, department phone number etc. He got very rude and pushy when I started questioning him and his intent. Watch out.
