I assure you that Quality Communications is a legit contractor for Cox Communications, I worked there for many years. The number that you have provided in the replies above it an ex employee named Marcus J. DO NOT CALL HIM OR RESPOND TO HIS POOR EFFORT HE CALLS A LETTER AND PLEASE TURN THIS IN TO COX COMMUNICATIONS. He has been trying to find a way to file some sort of lawsuit on Cox Communications and Quality Communications. If you call 702-432-5565 i assure you that you will get the main office. Im said to see that this has happened to so many Cox customers and I hope that the person causing this finally gets caught.

bbeesley,

This is not legitimate. Why wouldn't Cox mention this in our actual bill?
The site for Quality Communications" is clearly a load of crap- full of errors and completely unprofessional. Also, the caller ID would say "Cox" or "Quality Communications", not "Unknown Caller".

Also, there is no reason for them to come into the house.

This is bu***hit.

Stop trying to scam people.

I just received a call with that #. I did not answer though. Has anyone called Cox to verify if this is a scam or not?

OMG look at this page on "Quality Communications"'s site- look at their hours, written in as 7:00 am - 8:0 pm. Yes, that's right- with one zero.

This has GOT to be a scam.

I just got the letter described above, and a call from 702-463-9015, and I am suspicious as well. Glad I'm not the only one. I thought the same thing- what the hell do you need to come inside of my house for? That sounds shady.

Also, I have been getting bogus calls/letters about a range of things- my credit card rate (funny- I don't have a credit card), my vehicle's warranty, a free trip, etc. I suppose it's time to check my credit report and make sure everything's alright.

Anyone else having other problems like that?

I just got the same shady letter.  The Cox logo on my monthly bill has red,and green in the logo.  This letter does not.  What are they monitoring in my house to tell if my signal is bad? This seems like some kind of scam to get someone in your house.  Beware!!

We got both a letter and the phone call - didn't answer; but the letter looks very shady, with low quality printing, weird wording ("any time Mondays-Saturdays from 8 am-7 pm" - who puts "s's" on the end of day names?) and a very generic contracter- "Quality Communications." It looks like this company may possibly be legit, but their phone number is different than the one listed/the one that called us which is most likely a # for someone unrelated to either Cox or "Quality Communications." The front of the letter has the logo and an address printed underneath that has a very weird font/print quality....overall, i agree with everyone else, BE CAUTIOUS. if you have a cable issue, call Cox's phone number that is listed on their website, and avoid any correspondence with anyone at the # 702-463-9015.

Someone from this number called and left a msg. saying a problem had been detected on our cable internet and we should call to make an appt. for someone to come from Cox Cable in Las Vegas to come and fix it. When Cox was questioned, their rep. stated that this is not how Cox Cable does it. He said Cox would just send an rep. to the area cable box and fix the problem and that the rep. wouldn't come inside the house to mess with the modem.

The letter is legitimate

We are looking at our logs for modems that are registering high transmit levels.  This could cause the customer to experience packet loss or poor performance, especially as it gets warmer here in Las Vegas.

We are reaching out to these customers and offering to send a technician out to investigate the cause and resolve.

i got the same exact letter apparently from "Willard Lundstrom". It had grammatical errors and the logo seemed to be off. i did find that a willard lundstrom did/does work at cox as a vp. he donated campaign money a couple of months ago: http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.ph ... m&first=Willard   whether or not that letter is from him is in question.

Have been examining my letter and found a variety of flaws, leading me to conclude that it is unprofessional and a scam:

1. The date has no comma in it (May 28 2008)

2. The address listed on the letter is in fact associated with Cox, but not for repairs or anything like that (121 S. Martin Luther King Blvd., Las Vegas, NV. 89106). In fact, here are the only three places I could find that address on their site:
Here, having to do with making payments- http://www.cox.com/support/lasvegas/contact/serviceHIS.asp
Here, having to do with inventory control-
http://www.cox.com/about/Diversity/Suppliers/communications.asp
And here, having to do with job opportunities:
http://www.cox.com/lasvegas/eeo.asp

3. Best of all is the sentence with extra words in it, the extra word being in CAPS:
"We ask you to select a time MOST that is most convenient for you."

4. As another poster said, they put "s's" on the end of their hours, which is unprofessional (Mondays-Saturdays)

5. When the number they gave (702-463-9015) called me, caller ID showed "Unknown Name", not 'Cox' or 'Quality Communications' (I have posted above about their bogus site).

Just very unprofessional.

Also suspicious to me is the contractor they said they'd be sending out, from "Quality Communications". The "hit counter" at the bottom of the site I found for them (http://www.qcwire.com/) says they've only had 411 hits. Could it be a site they've created just to back up their scam letter? Seems to be written poorly as well, their site.
